Chapter 219

Having evaded both the anomalies and the patrol teams, Lou Yan and Fu Xuezhou arrived near the heavily guarded Qitian Building.
The Qitian Building was located in the heart of Xiyang City and was the tallest building in the city. Resembling a cone, it tapered towards the top, with dark-colored glass reflecting the colorful light of the sky. Before the resurgence of anomalies, the Qitian Building was a symbol of Xiyang City and had hosted several large-scale commercial events.
The area around the Qitian Building was heavily guarded, with cultist guards encircling it inch by inch. These cultists were either awakened individuals with supernatural abilities or half-anomalies. Not only was the area around the tower guarded, but there were also cultists stationed on the top floor, monitoring the surroundings. Lou Yan even saw half-anomalies with wings carrying weapons flying around the Qitian Building.
The most heavily guarded area to enter the Qitian Building was its entrance. Apart from the cultist guards stationed there, there were also two peculiar-looking cultists. One of them resembled a dwarf, as round as a ball and with a fierce and sinister appearance. He was tightly scanning his surroundings. When a small fly approached from two meters above his head, aiming to fly into the Qitian Building, the dwarf instantly opened his mouth, and his frog-like tongue shot out several meters long. With remarkable agility, he caught the fly in his mouth, chewed on it, and swallowed it, the whole process as fast as the wind.
If it weren’t for Lou Yan’s keen eyesight, one might not even notice the dwarf extending his tongue to snatch the fly.
The appearance of the other cultist was even stranger. He was as thin as a stick, with an enormous belly and a head three times larger than normal. He moved around like a spider, crawling on walls and floors, while transparent spider silk spewed out of his mouth, weaving a dense web at the entrance. When the light of the setting sun shone upon it, the web faintly glowed with a fluorescent light.
Lou Yan’s gaze swept from top to bottom, from left to right. Apart from these non-technological methods, there were also many technological measures in place. The cultists had truly spared no effort in their defense, indicating how seriously they regarded this meeting.
Seeing how tightly guarded the Qitian Building was, Lou Yan actually felt relieved. This meant that the cultists’ meeting had not yet ended.
Lou Yan gave Fu Xuezhou a meaningful look, silently asking him how they should proceed.
Fu Xuezhou returned a puzzled look in response.
“…” Lou Yan gave Fu Xuezhou another urging look, “Didn’t you say you had a way to sneak me in and eavesdrop? Let’s go.
Afraid that Fu Xuezhou might not understand, Lou Yan even pointed to his own ear, reminding Fu Xuezhou not to forget his previous words. His ear was bitten by him. He shouldn’t just be talking big in the end.
Fu Xuezhou seemed to understand Lou Yan’s meaning and hesitantly nodded. Lou Yan looked at him expectantly, waiting for Fu Xuezhou to come up with a good idea. But instead, Fu Xuezhou slowly approached him and finally planted a gentle kiss on his ear.
Lou Yan: “…”
Lou Yan: “……….”
D*mn idiot.
Lou Yan’s face darkened, and he pushed Fu Xuezhou away with a hand, scolding him in a low voice, “What are you doing!”
After speaking, Lou Yan immediately glanced towards the Qitian Building. Seeing that they hadn’t alerted the cultists, he glared at Fu Xuezhou again, annoyed.
Fu Xuezhou tilted his head, looking somewhat innocent, as if he didn’t understand why Lou Yan was angry. He approached again, his cold breath spraying on Lou Yan’s ear, causing a tingling sensation. “Didn’t you ask me to kiss your ear?” he whispered.
?!
Lou Yan was about to burst into laughter from anger, “I was asking you how to get in!”
But Fu Xuezhou licked Lou Yan’s earlobe with his tongue and just before Lou Yan was about to get angry, Fu Xuezhou said in a slow and soft voice, “Shh, keep quiet, or we’ll be discovered.”
Lou Yan’s movements were forced to stop as he looked towards the entrance of the Qitian Building. The dwarf-like cultist was vigilantly looking around, seeming suspicious, as if he had heard something.
Lou Yan could only remain still, letting Fu Xuezhou play with his ear. As his ear became increasingly hot and Fu Xuezhou’s actions became more excessive, from kissing Lou Yan’s ear, it moved to his neck, then his hand wandered into Lou Yan’s clothes, moving slowly towards his chest, and finally returned to Lou Yan’s ear.
When Lou Yan’s earlobe swelled up again, his face turned extremely dark.
Fu Xuezhou finally lightly nibbled on Lou Yan’s earlobe before backing away satisfactorily. “I have a way to get you in.”
Lou Yan said coldly, “You better have a real way.”
Fu Xuezhou pursed his lips, grabbed Lou Yan’s hand, and walked out directly, even taking Lou Yan all the way to the entrance of the Qitian Building.
And throughout this whole process, the cultists seemed to have not seen Lou Yan and Fu Xuezhou at all, letting them walk up to them without any hindrance.
Before Lou Yan could be surprised, Fu Xuezhou turned around, picked up Lou Yan, and leaped to the third floor, avoiding the high-tech security and entering the building through the window.
It wasn’t until their feet touched the floor that Lou Yan came back to his senses. “Fu Xuezhou, how did you do that?”
If they were to forcefully enter the building, Lou Yan alone could come up with dozens of ways to break in, and those people outside wouldn’t be able to stop him. But what they needed was to sneak in without being noticed. Fu Xuezhou had brought him in so effortlessly, Lou Yan hadn’t expected it to be so easy.
“The power of nightmare,” Fu Xuezhou said.
Lou Yan, being extremely clever, instantly understood. “Like Dream Butterfly, turning the power of nightmares from dreams into a tangible force in reality to deceive others?”
In other words, Fu Xuezhou had probably enveloped the two of them with the power of nightmares, making them “non-existent” in the eyes of others. The power of nightmares was originally the ability to tamper with others’ senses and memories, to create illusions, so when those cultists saw the power of nightmares enveloping Lou Yan and Fu Xuezhou, they would also be deceived by the nightmares, which was why they could swagger in without anyone noticing.
A hint of amusement flashed in Fu Xuezhou’s eyes as he nodded faintly.
Lou Yan marveled at how useful the power of nightmares was, then looked around. This was an empty restroom, narrow and clean. When he didn’t hear anyone else present, Lou Yan sneered twice, suddenly grabbed Fu Xuezhou’s collar and pushed him down, then raised his knee and struck Fu Xuezhou’s abdomen hard. Caught off guard, Fu Xuezhou took the blow completely, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
Fu Xuezhou stood up without a word, his beautiful pale face expressionless, his black eyes quietly looking at Lou Yan. Sweat clung to a few strands of silver hair.
He looked somewhat pitiful.
But Lou Yan didn’t pity him at all. Instead, he grabbed Fu Xuezhou’s chin with a smile that was not a smile, his tone carrying a hint of danger. “Fu Xuezhou, what just happened won’t happen again. If you go too far next time, don’t blame me for being ruthless to you.”
Saying that, he narrowed his peach blossom eyes, seemingly a flower bud waiting to bloom but filled with poisonous thorns.
Fu Xuezhou followed the force of Lou Yan’s hand, looking down at the flower, his long eyelashes casting a shadow of indecision below his eyes. Fu Xuezhou understood that Lou Yan was referring to him taking advantage of Lou Yan under the enemy’s nose, knowing the danger of being discovered.
Without a trace of change in his Adam’s apple, Fu Xuezhou’s eyes were covered, and he asked calmly, “How ruthless?”
“You wouldn’t want to know.”
Lou Yan sneered and let go of Fu Xuezhou, “You better behave yourself—especially when we’re on a mission.”
The silver-haired man looked at Lou Yan, his eyes devoid of emotion. “But we’re lovers.”
“Even lovers have to behave themselves and work seriously when they’re working, okay?” Lou Yan glanced at him mercilessly, “Even lovers can’t stand your unrestrained behavior anytime, anywhere.”
Fu Xuezhou lowered his eyes again, his hands in his pockets, not saying a word. The white T-shirt with Crayon Shin-chan printed on it hung loosely at his crotch, making him look young and innocent, as if the male protagonist from a comic had broken through the three-dimensional world and come to reality. Seeing Lou Yan’s imposing appearance and Fu Xuezhou’s silent demeanor, Fu Xuezhou looked like a victim.
Even the aura emanating from him seemed to have suffered some major hit.
Lou Yan couldn’t understand. Were his demands too unreasonable? Which couple would be hugging and kissing while fighting against evil forces?
They were here on serious business!
The veins on his forehead jumped again. Lou Yan couldn’t bear it anymore and cursed under his breath with a dark face, “Fu Xuezhou, who are you pretending to be a victim for?! My chest is d*mn sore from you groping it. Who’s the victim and who’s the perpetrator here!”
Fu Xuezhou raised his eyebrows at the words. “Does it hurt?”
Lou Yan sneered again. “No!”
Fu Xuezhou furrowed his brow slightly, without saying a word, he walked up to Lou Yan and grabbed the hem of Lou Yan’s shirt, about to check Lou Yan’s chest. Lou Yan tightly gripped his hand, leaving a bruise on Fu Xuezhou’s wrist, impatiently saying, “What are you trying to do?”
“I just want to take a look.” Fu Xuezhou’s brow furrowed even deeper, a cold aura surrounding him.
Lou Yan chuckled again, “What are you looking at? Stop wasting my time. This is your final warning, Fu Xuezhou. Hurry up and find out where the cultists are meeting.”
Fu Xuezhou knew that Lou Yan was genuinely angry this time. After hesitating for a moment, he didn’t insist on lifting Lou Yan’s clothes any further. He pursed his lips unwillingly and withdrew his hand, his gaze lingering on Lou Yan’s chest for a few seconds.
Lou Yan almost felt like his gaze could penetrate through his clothes and see his body, as if the heavy gaze had materialized into a pair of hands. Lou Yan forcibly suppressed the urge to turn away from this gaze, along with all the sensitive thoughts and strange reactions, glaring fiercely at Fu Xuezhou.
After a few more seconds, Fu Xuezhou averted his gaze, his mouth twitching slightly. Suddenly, his mood seemed to take a turn for the worse. “I’m sorry.”
He turned his head to look out the window, his profile tense and cold. He seemed annoyed and repressed, but not towards Lou Yan or the other cultists, but towards himself.
Lou Yan thought he was apologizing for wasting time and not being serious enough about the task. Seeing his sincere apology, Lou Yan’s attitude softened, “It’s okay, let’s forget about it this time. Let’s go, we need to find the destination quickly.”
Fu Xuezhou turned back, looked at Lou Yan for a moment, the annoyance disappearing, and he nodded.
