Chapter 108: The Grublin Restaurant

The police didn’t find the ring on anyone, so they had to assign more people to search within the stable’s premises. After Silvia’s horse went out of control, Hettie had been with everyone, not even going to the restroom. Therefore, she hadn’t had the chance to dispose of the ring yet.
Before evidence was found, no one believed that Hettie would do such a thing. She was usually kind and talented, never giving people a reason to doubt her. In contrast, Silvia was assertive and outspoken, often unintentionally offending people. When they learned about the “accidental” incident between Hettie and her boyfriend, quite a few people even spoke up for Hettie. After all, in M country, sexual norms were relatively open, and occasional infidelity wasn’t a big deal for some.
This horse-riding competition was also suggested by Hettie “inadvertently,” but everyone subconsciously thought it was Silvia’s idea because she was better at riding, and she herself didn’t find anything wrong with it. In fact, Hettie came from a small farm and had excellent riding skills. If the competition had been fair and square, she might not have lost. However, she chose the most despicable means.
Until the police found the ring in the gap of the stable fence, which had a mechanism to shoot out a needle when slightly rotated, even before the analysis, the identity of the suspect could be basically confirmed.
Senn, who firmly believed in Hettie’s character, was shocked. Yilic, who had been sarcastic towards Silvia, was also shocked. Everyone who had supported Hettie was shocked. The gentle and kind girl had turned out to be a scheming woman?! If Silvia had unfortunately fallen from the horse and died, it probably would have been considered an accident, and the ranch would have been responsible for compensation. She subtly accomplished a murder, even if it was just resulting in disability; her goal would have been achieved.
Hettie originally planned to take the ring with her when leaving the ranch, but unfortunately, the dragnet was wide, and not only did Silvia come out unscathed, but her plan was also exposed. In the disbelieving gazes of everyone, Hettie’s hands were handcuffed, and she was led into the police car.
“Oh my God, how could this happen?”
“Hettie, why did you do this?”
“Tell me, this isn’t true, right? You’re being wrongly accused, aren’t you?”
Hettie slowly raised her head, scanning each person with a sad expression. “I’m sorry for disappointing you all.”
Seeing this, sympathy rose in everyone’s hearts again, subconsciously seeking excuses for her actions. Silvia watched coldly, her eyes showing no ripples.
After the police car started moving, Hettie asked, “Officer, can I know who drew the ring for you?”
“Sorry, I cannot disclose that.”
She slowly lowered her head, and the sadness on her face suddenly disappeared, turning into a gloom, completely different from her previous appearance.
An Bu changed into fresh clothes, preparing to leave the stable with Jian Ningxuan. Silvia walked over and invited, “Ann, can I treat you and your friend to lunch?”
“What about your friends?”
Silvia shrugged, “We’re no longer friends.”
An Bu saw her appearing indifferent, but her eyes couldn’t hide the weariness and disappointment. She knew she had suffered considerable damage this time, and even her temper had restrained a lot.
“Sure, free lunch is hard to come by. I’d love to.” An Bu smiled and agreed, then looked at Jian Ningxuan beside him.
Although Jian Ningxuan was not very willing, he did not object either.
“Great, let’s go. I’ll take you to try the donuts at the Grublin family’s restaurant; they’re guaranteed to be delicious.” Silvia led the two towards the parking lot outside the stable.
Silvia and her friends had a total of three cars, parked side by side. When they got into their cars, they happened to meet them. Silvia didn’t bother to say hello, just drove away with An Bu and Jian Ningxuan, leaving the others in the dust.
“An Bu, can we leave after having lunch?” Jian Ningxuan’s good mood was destroyed by this unfortunate event.
“How about staying for one night? I heard there’s a celebration tonight, and I want to stay to see it.” An Bu suggested.
“What celebration?”
“The Yungeli Beer Festival. All the nearby residents will participate, and you can drink for free, play in the mud, and watch bikini-clad beauties dance.”
Jian Ningxuan asked, “…Are you going to wear a bikini too?”
An Bu looked at him with a smile, “If you wear a grass skirt, I’ll wear a bikini.”
Grass skirt… Jian Ningxuan’s mind conjured up an image of himself wearing a grass skirt, and he suddenly felt a chill. More importantly, he worried that his high body temperature might cause the grass skirt to catch fire, and that would be a tragedy.
“I’m not suited for a grass skirt.” He was clear about his elite positioning.
An Bu looked him up and down, then nodded in agreement. “You’re more suited to be a runway model, shining and heating up under the spotlight.”
Jian Ningxuan said, “…”
“Ah, Mr. Jian, you’re not really a model, are you?” An Bu suddenly reacted.
Jian Ningxuan paused, almost forgetting that she no longer remembered her past.
“I’m a trader,” he introduced, “analyzing data every day, observing market trends, manipulating things behind the scenes. It’s not the glamorous profession you imagine.”
“So, you’re a trader.” An Bu joked, “When I have money, I’ll let you handle my investments, alright?”
“Sure,” Jian Ningxuan replied.
All of Bubu’s 20,000 savings were in his hands. The bank card and credit card he had given her were burned, so where did she get money now?
Jian Ningxuan felt that there were many mysteries about Bu Bu, and he was willing to spend his lifetime slowly uncovering them, as long as she was well.
Silvia brought the two to Grublin, the largest restaurant in Yungeli. Unlike the quiet elegance of high-end restaurants in the city, this place was noisy with the constant buzz of conversation, clinking glasses, and loud calls. There were even quite a few men shirtless, using vulgar language and behaving rudely.
Jian Ningxuan, seeing this scene, almost turned around with An Bu. Seeing Silvia’s appearance, she should come from a good background. Why would she invite them to eat in such a place? Although every place had its own customs and characteristics, he expressed respect but might not be able to adapt.
In the past, when Jian Ningxuan studied abroad, he hadn’t even been to a bar. One reason was that he didn’t like crowds, and the other was due to his cleanliness obsession. But seeing An Bu not saying anything, he held back.
The three found a seat in a corner, ordered some specialty dishes, and began chatting.
“Don’t judge this restaurant by its appearance; the food here is really good,” Silvia explained. “I was not used to it the first time I came, but after eating, I was immediately conquered by its deliciousness.”
“Then I must try it.” An Bu smiled and agreed.
Jian Ningxuan glanced at her: What can you taste?
An Bu didn’t notice Jian Ningxuan’s subtle expression and continued to observe the surroundings.
All she saw were dark silhouettes, with many showing signs of impending illness in certain areas, indicating that they might die from diseases in the future. However, with regular health check-ups, the risk of falling ill could be avoided.
At this moment, a waitress brought food and drinks to their table. Silvia gave her a 100-yuan tip, receiving a warm blessing in return.
Jian Ningxuan picked up An Bu’s knife and fork, carefully wiped them clean, and then pushed the vegetable and fruit plate closer to her.
An Bu handed the steak and salmon skewers with bell peppers in front of him.
Sylvia: “…”
Why did she invite an engaged couple who are so in love to dinner when she’s feeling so low emotionally…
