Chapter 133: Old Driver

When Fu Junyao opened the door, the first thing he saw was not An Bu, but a furry dog face.
“What is this…”
“This is a pet I specially selected for your mother, a little Czech Terrier.” An Bu walked into the living room with a cage and a pile of pet supplies, explaining, “Since your mother doesn’t even want to be close to you guys now, I thought I’d try using a pet to attract her attention. Do you mind having a dog at home? If you do, I’ll take it away and think of another way.”
“It’s okay, my sister and I both like dogs, and my mother doesn’t dislike them either, she just hasn’t raised one herself before.” Fu Junyao felt secretly surprised. The price of a Czech Terrier is not cheap, and the starting price in China is at least 20,000 yuan. An Bu’s final salary probably didn’t cover the cost of this Czech Terrier alone.
“That’s good then.” An Bu put down the cage and took out essential pet supplies such as a leash, shampoo, cushion, comb, bowl, and dog food from her bag. This kind of small expense was insignificant to her as long as it could achieve the goal of saving someone.
Fu Junyao quietly watched her busy, recalling the information he had recently found.
An Bu was an orphan, and her age was more than twenty years apart from Aunt Gu An. Although it might not be her, there was a possibility that she could be her daughter. After all, An Bu’s parents were unknown, and her name contained an “An.”
An Bu completely didn’t expect that Fu Junyao suspected her to be her own daughter. She turned her head and asked, “Mr. Fu, can I let the puppy out now to let it familiarize itself with the environment?”
“Um, sure.” Fu Junyao’s gaze fell on the Czech Terrier again. Its head was large and long, with slight wrinkles on its forehead. Its two not-too-big eyes were partially covered by messy eyebrows, shimmering with a black-brown light. Its blue-gray fur was uneven, with long hair on its muzzle and four short legs, making it look like a shrunken version of a long-faced grass mud horse.
Actually, this type of dog didn’t look ugly, but the one An Bu bought was definitely an ugly one among Czech Terriers. However, it seemed completely unaware of this fact, entering the new environment without any fear, strutting around as if patrolling its territory.
“Czech Terriers don’t like to bark much, so you don’t have to worry about it disturbing others. These days, let’s teach it some common sense of life. After it learns, let it meet Mrs. Qu to see if she likes it.” An Bu stated her plan.
Fu Junyao hesitated and asked, “If you want to please her, why not choose a cuter one? Like a Husky, Teddy, or Pomeranian?”
“Because this Czech Terrier is uniquely ugly, which makes it easier to attract others’ attention.” An Bu analyzed seriously, “Just imagine, seeing a clown swaggering in front of you every day, could you resist the urge to reach out?”
Fu Junyao looked at the clownish Terrier swaggering around, indeed feeling the urge to rub it on the ground a few times.
“You’re right,” he agreed with An Bu’s viewpoint.
For the next few days, besides taking care of Qu Xiu’s daily life with the nanny, An Bu trained the Czech Terrier with Fu Junyao.
An Bu had never been particularly fond of animals, especially dogs. They either ignored her or were on guard, and some even saw her as potential food, waiting for her to die before taking a few bites. Fortunately, there were not many stray dogs now, and most pet dogs ate dog food, so they were not very interested in the meat of a corpse. Otherwise, she would really be tragic.
“Old driver, come here.” An Bu waved to the Terrier, who then ran to Fu Junyao on the other side.
Fu Junyao touched the Terrier’s head and smiled, “How many days has it been, and you still haven’t made friends with it?”
“It’s just a gay dog who doesn’t appreciate the opposite sex.” An Bu glanced arrogantly at it.
“But the nanny gets along well with it.” Fu Junyao stated the fact.
“Because the nanny feeds it dog food every day.” An Bu tried to find a reason for her being disliked.
Fu Junyao couldn’t help but laugh lightly.
At first, he thought An Bu was a gentle and reserved girl, but after a few days of getting along, he found that she was particularly lively, and there was always a lot of fun with her, without worrying about being bored.
“I think it’s almost time.” An Bu suddenly said, “Let old driver go and relieve Mrs. Qu’s boredom, shall we?”
“Old driver” was the nickname An Bu gave to the Czech Terrier, whose full name was “Czech-Ski.”
Fu Junyao nodded and carried Czech-Ski to the door of Qu Xiu’s bedroom, gently pushing the door open and letting it in. He and An Bu stood at the door quietly observing the situation.
Czech-Ski first looked around curiously, then trotted elegantly towards Qu Xiu sitting by the French window, circling around her wheelchair, occasionally sniffing at her feet.
Qu Xiu was suddenly startled by this sudden appearance: Where did this ugly dog come from?!
Seeing it pawing at her slippers, she couldn’t help but lift her foot to kick it away, not using much force as she couldn’t muster much strength now.
Czech-Ski thought Qu Xiu was playing a game with it, so it eagerly pounced over. When she lifted her foot, it quickly snatched her slipper away. Carrying the slipper in its mouth, it ran to the corner and put it down, looking back at Qu Xiu provocatively, as if saying, “Do you want it? Come and get it!”
Qu Xiu, missing one slipper, “…”
Czech-Ski, seeing her not moving, felt that stealing one slipper wasn’t enough, so it dashed over to her other foot, intending to snatch the other slipper.
Qu Xiu instinctively pulled back her foot and scolded softly, “Go away.”
Her voice was hoarse and weak, lacking any deterrent power, naturally unable to stop Czech-Old Driver.
It clung to Qu Xiu’s foot wearing the other slipper, using all four limbs to try and remove her slipper.
“Ski!” Fu Junyao, at An Bu’s signal, scolded, “No more nonsense.”
Czech-Ski twitched its ears, reluctantly crawled out from under the wheelchair, and ran towards Fu Junyao.
Fu Junyao pointed to the corner and ordered, “Go, return the slipper!”
Czech-Ski looked up at him, wagging its tail happily, with an innocent look of “I’m a dog and don’t understand human language.”
Fu Junyao glared at it, “Just looking at me won’t work. Go and return the slipper!”
Czech-Ski hung its head, its long eyebrows covering its eyes. It turned around, ran to the corner, picked up the slipper, and brought it back to Qu Xiu’s feet.
Fu Junyao was about to praise its intelligence when he saw it taking advantage of Qu Xiu’s relaxation, snatching her other slipper again, gleefully running to the door, putting the slipper down, and wagging its tail as if showing off its achievements.
Fu Junyao: This is different from training. Don’t add drama arbitrarily, okay?!
An Bu noticed Qu Xiu glancing over here, feeling a slight movement in her heart: It seems that the strategy of dog conquering is somewhat effective.
They returned the slippers and casually introduced Czech-Ski to Qu Xiu, telling her some interesting stories about Czech-Ski, then left the bedroom while carrying it.
Fu Junyao frowned. “Mom still doesn’t seem to have any reaction.”
“Don’t worry,” An Bu smiled, “I carefully observed. She only looked at you twice just now, but she looked at old driver seven times.”
Fu Junyao: Should I be happy about that?
“Old driver, well done. Your ugliness finally came in handy.” An Bu generously praised.
Czech-Ski didn’t want to talk to you and threw a disdainful look at you.
Fu Junyao felt relaxed, his gaze uncontrollably focusing on her.
After work, An Bu once again declined Fu Junyao’s dinner invitation and bid farewell.
She had driven out today. Since there was still some time left, she started carpooling, picked up a few passengers, earned an extra hundred yuan, and even provided psychological counseling to a passenger who was contemplating suicide, successfully rescuing them from despair and earning several points of vitality points.
Around 6 o’clock, An Bu called Jian Ningxuan, “Mr. Jian, what would you like to eat tonight?”
“Anything is fine.”
“Just heard the weather forecast, it seems to be raining tonight. How about hot pot? On the rooftop garden, we can have hot pot while enjoying the flowers, the rain, and the cool autumn breeze.”
“Mm.”
His voice didn’t reveal any excitement, but An Bu could imagine him sparkling with joy.
“Wait for me for 30 minutes.” After hanging up the phone, she dashed off.
Jian Ningxuan put down his phone, a smile playing on his lips, and went to the kitchen to prepare the ingredients in advance, waiting for An Bu to come back and handle them.
In the evening, An Bu eagerly prepared dinner and planned to enjoy a romantic hot pot feast with her cat master, but halfway through, the expected drizzle turned into a downpour, drenching them both from head to toe.
“Hahaha…” An Bu ran back to the villa with Jian Ningxuan, both looking disheveled but very happy.
“You’re still laughing. Come on, let’s take a shower and change our clothes.”
An Bu spread her arms, “Today, I’m in a very good mood. Little Jianzi, come and help me change.”
Jian Ningxuan looked at the dripping wet Mrs. Jian, her curves fully exposed and extremely tempting.
“I’m not Little Jianzi.” Jian Ningxuan corrected, “I am Zhen*.”
* referring himself as being an emperor
“Hahaha, Mr. Jian is learning to joke seriously.”
“Are you going to change or not?”
“Change!”
An Bu pounced over, stripped the cat master naked first, sucked in a few breaths of vitality, and then quickly stripped off her own clothes, comfortably slipping into the bathtub.
Jian Ningxuan, who was about to help the lady change, “…”
Wasn’t he supposed to change clothes?
“Come here quickly, Mr. Jian. I need your warmth.”
Jian Ningxuan’s spirits lifted, and he walked into the bathtub glowing with enthusiasm, diligently warming his poop scooper…
Early the next morning, as An Bu was preparing to go to the gym, she suddenly heard Jian Ningxuan’s phone ring. The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number, and seeing that Jian Ningxuan was still asleep, she answered the phone for him.
“Um, I’m his wife. What? Okay, I got it, we’ll be right over.”
As soon as the call ended, she saw Jian Ningxuan looking at her with sleepy eyes. “Whose call was it?”
An Bu replied, “The hospital called just now. Molly’s father woke up.”
Jian Ningxuan, fully awake now, his face calm again, got up and said, “Let’s go see.”
