Around 2-3 in the morning, Jian Ningxuan changed An Bu’s beddings and brought a computer, books, fresh clothes, and a cat-shaped pillow from home. Eventually, exhausted, he leaned next to An Bu and fell into a deep sleep.
Cuddled in his arms, An Bu decided to endure the consequences of stiff limbs and accompany him for four hours. However, her brain didn’t stop working and repeatedly reviewed various knowledge points.
In the early morning, Jian Ningxuan abruptly opened his eyes, quickly glanced at An Bu beside him, and then relaxed.
“Morning,” An Bu raised the cat pillow and poked his face a few times.
“Morning,” his deep voice, with a hint of seductive allure, Jian Ningxuan checked the time and found it was almost 8 am.
“Do you want to sleep a little longer?” he asked, stroking An Bu’s head.
Still sleep? If she continued, she would completely stiffen up!
Thinking this, though, she said, “I’ll lie down for a bit longer. Can you go buy breakfast for me?”
“Sure.” Jian Ningxuan got up from the bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
An Bu remained in her original position, lying flat on the bed. When Jian Ningxuan entered the bathroom, she immediately started doing stretching exercises, lifting arms, bending legs, rolling over, doing sit-ups, starting from slow and mechanical movements, gradually becoming natural and flexible.
Just as An Bu clung to the bed rail, lifted both legs, and entered a half-inverted position, the bathroom door suddenly opened. Jian Ningxuan stood at the doorway, looking displeased as he watched her “performance.”
“Did you forget that your vertebrae are dislocated?” Jian Ningxuan walked over, straightened her body, and pressed her back onto the bed.
An Bu gripped the blanket, sighing, “I feel uncomfortable all over if I don’t move.”
“Turn around, I’ll find a masseur for you, and you’ll get a massage every day until you recover,” Jian Ningxuan ordered. “Before you heal, don’t mess with your body.”
An Bu immediately decided to wait until he left to start messing with it again.
However, she was too naive. Jian Ningxuan had just left when two female nurses entered, responsible for taking care of her and supervising her.
Living like this was unbearable!
An Bu had a premonition that she might be directly sent to the morgue in ten days.
Before she could come up with a plan, Officer Sun, along with two policemen, arrived at the hospital to inquire about what happened last night.
“How’s Miss Fei?” An Bu asked.
“She broke her right leg and is currently recuperating in another hospital. There is no danger to her life,” Officer Sun said. “I’ve already roughly understood the situation from her. She said she was able to escape because you blocked the two criminals for her. The two criminals had guns, and you…”
Officer Sun looked An Bu up and down, unable to find any traces of being shot.
“I was lucky not to be shot. I was just put into a coffin by them,” An Bu replied.
Officer Sun felt that he would rather be shot than be buried alive.
“The two criminals haven’t been caught yet. Do you remember their appearance?” Officer Sun asked.
An Bu took out a cellphone from a drawer. “This is what I stole from one of the criminals. I don’t know if it can provide any clues. As for their appearance… give me paper and pen; I’ll help you sketch.”
Although An Bu’s sense of color was tragically lacking, her sketching skills were still good.
Officer Sun immediately ordered someone to prepare paper and pen, and at the same time, handed the phone to a police officer, asking him to deliver it to the forensic department.
In no time, the police officer returned with the sketchbook and pencil, and Jian Ningxuan followed suit. Seeing that An Bu was about to use her injured hands to draw, his face immediately darkened.
Without waiting for him to speak, An Bu preemptively said, “I won’t use force; it won’t hurt.”
Upon hearing “it won’t hurt,” Jian Ningxuan immediately thought of her “pain insensitivity,” and his expression worsened.
Officer Sun also realized An Bu’s condition at this point, expressing apologetically, “I’m sorry for the oversight. Please describe their features, and we’ll contact you for a portrait later if needed.”
“It’s okay. I hope you can catch those two criminals soon, or else the safety of Miss Fei and me might still be at risk,” An Bu said, addressing both Officer Sun and her household cat master.
As expected, Jian Ningxuan didn’t stop her after hearing this. He just sat on the bedside, watching An Bu’s fingers, ready to intervene at any moment.
With a sketchbook in one hand and a pencil in the other, An Bu quickly recalled the appearance of the two criminals in her mind and began portraying them on the paper.
The lines were simple but distinct, with high recognizability.
Officer Sun praised, “I didn’t expect you to be good at drawing.”
Jian Ningxuan gave him a disdainful glance, thinking that his An Bu could do everything.
“I’m done.” An Bu handed over the sketchbook. “I hope you can apprehend the criminals soon.”
Officer Sun was about to take it, but Jian Ningxuan took the sketchbook first, pulled out his phone, and took several photos of the drawings.
Officer Sun paused for a moment but didn’t stop him, saying, “Mr. Jian, if you find their whereabouts, please inform us.”
“Sure.” Jian Ningxuan replied indifferently, handing the sketchbook to Officer Sun.
After that, Officer Sun questioned An Bu about the process of her and Fei Xinjue’s abduction. After comparing the two testimonies, verifying there were no inconsistencies, he got up to bid farewell. If he didn’t leave now, the esteemed Jian would start a fire.
Officer Sun left the ward in a hurry, sweating profusely.
Jian Ningxuan lifted An Bu’s hand, carefully checking the wound. The incision hadn’t split open, and his facial expression finally eased a bit.
“I’ve hired two bodyguards for you. Be sure to take them with you when you go out,” Jian Ningxuan earnestly reminded.
“Okay.” An Bu nodded obediently.
Jian Ningxuan stared at her, still worried that she might cause trouble.
“I promise not to leave the bodyguards’ sight.” An Bu raised her hand, swearing.
Jian Ningxuan withdrew his gaze, choosing to believe her for now.
Naturally, An Bu couldn’t lie in bed all day. However, she didn’t want to roam around the hospital. The only place she could move freely was the garden. So, after meals, she would leave the ward to walk, exercise, chat with other patients, and play chess. In short, she kept herself busy.
The daytime was relatively easy to pass, but at night, the hospital became eerie. Fortunately, she had her cat master to ward off evil spirits; otherwise, she feared she might unintentionally absorb a large amount of death energy.
Considering An Bu’s surplus energy, Jian Ningxuan came up with various ideas, such as finding someone to give her a massage, exercising and correcting her posture together, watching movies, playing games, doing crafts, exploring cuisine… striving to be a competent and considerate cat master.
The days in the hospital were not as difficult as An Bu had imagined; instead, they were surprisingly comfortable.
Three days later, An Bu saw Fei Xinjue, who had been transferred to the hospital. She sat in a wheelchair, plain-faced, a bit less capable than usual, and a bit gentler.
“Thank you, Miss An. If it weren’t for you sacrificing yourself, I’m afraid I would have been killed long ago,” Fei Xinjue sincerely expressed her gratitude.
“Don’t be polite. In the end, I still implicated you.”
Fei Xinjue smiled, “Regardless of the cause, you’re my lifesaver. Not everyone can create opportunities for survival with their own lives in such a situation.”
An Bu didn’t continue this topic but asked, “How did you manage to escape?”
“It was a stroke of luck,” Fei Xinjue recalled that night’s experience, still with lingering fear. “It was very late, and I could only run based on my instincts. Inadvertently, I rolled down a hill, fell into a ravine, broke my right leg, and shortly after, I heard someone nearby. Although the ravine I was in was still relatively concealed, being found was only a matter of time. I originally thought I was done for, but unexpectedly, the criminal didn’t continue tracking me; instead, he ran away. Probably because he heard the rescue sounds from the other side.”
At this point, Fei Xinjue looked at An Bu in amazement. “Miss An, you’re amazing. In an isolated and helpless situation, you managed to steal the criminal’s phone, seek help from the outside world, and miraculously survived after being buried alive for 100 minutes.”
An Bu: If you were also a corpse, you would understand that it’s not called “surviving” but a different form of pretending to be a corpse.
“However,” Fei Xinjue suddenly furrowed her brows, a bit puzzled. “When I was escaping, I vaguely remember you seemed to have been shot?”
An Bu denied firmly, “No, the bullet missed me.”
Fei Xinjue nodded, not doubting. If An Bu had really been shot, there was no way she could have survived.
“It seems we’re both lucky.” Fei Xinjue reached out her hand to An Bu, “I don’t know if you’d be willing to be my friend?”
“Of course.” An Bu never refused positive friendships.
While the two were chatting, an ambulance rushed into the hospital, and a person covered in blood was quickly pushed out by medical personnel and rushed to the emergency room.
An Bu frowned, picked up her newly purchased phone, and sent a text to Jian Ningxuan: 【Dear, I miss you.】
【(Cat Master): Ten minutes.】
An Bu immediately smiled.
Seeing her expression, Fei Xinjue teased, “What’s making you so happy?”
An Bu beamed, “My power bank is about to arrive.”
Fei Xinjue looked puzzled: Is a power bank something rare? Is it an imported high-energy power bank?
However, she soon understood.
Under the sunlight, Jian Ningxuan, dressed in a casual suit, shone brightly as he walked towards them.
An Bu opened her arms and rushed into his embrace with a thud, absorbing his vitality beautifully.
Meanwhile, in the emergency room, the patient who had just been brought in was declared dead, and a wave of death spread out. Following the most concentrated yin energy around An Bu, it drifted over but was promptly dispersed by a vibrant aura.
An Bu thought contentedly, “Having a cat master at home is like having a treasure!”
Her cat master, cute recharging, beautifying, nourishing, warding off evil spirits, harmonizing life – truly versatile!
