Chapter 70: Faking Death Incident (Part Two)
<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>
An Bu formed a barrier around her with her vitality points. Although it could prevent her from absorbing too much death energy, the consumption of vitality points was enormous.
She guided the death energy, rapidly approaching the center of the ancient tomb cluster. However, when there was still a distance of twenty or thirty meters, she stopped in her tracks. Strands of death energy slowly wafted out of the cave on the small mountain peak, like dark clouds, shrouding the entire mountain.
Such thick death energy indicated that it came from at least fifty or more deceased individuals, all of whom had died under unnatural circumstances with deep attachments. Coupled with this specific Feng Shui pattern, the death energy condensed, gradually forming self-awareness.
To solve this problem, there were currently two methods. One was to break the tomb open entirely, releasing the death energy within, but the one who opened the tomb might be entangled by the death energy before it dissipated, putting their life at risk. The second was to seal the death energy outlet again, set up a large Feng Shui array, and slowly purify these death energy. Once the death energy was purified, there would be less danger in opening the tomb in the future.
In An Bu’s view, the second method was more secure, though it required a considerable amount of time. She knew how to arrange a Feng Shui array, but she couldn’t stay here for too long. If she sought help from others, there was a fear of mistakes.
Should she report to the relevant authorities and let the national archaeological team handle it, or should she figure out a way to seal the ancient tomb herself?
Just as An Bu was in a dilemma, she suddenly heard a “plop” sound behind her, followed by several voices exclaiming, “Someone fell into the water!”
“Zhang Hao, why did you push Little Qi in?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? Why would I push him?”
“Stop arguing, let’s save him.”
“Don’t worry, Little Qi can swim.”
After a short while, Little Qi did emerge from the water, cursing as he swam to the shore. Just as he was about to climb up, a foot suddenly appeared above his head, forcefully kicking him back into the water.
“Master, what are you doing?!” The crowd exclaimed.
“He’s possessed by a ghost. Don’t get close, it’s dangerous!” The old Feng Shui master saw Little Qi surface, then kicked him forcefully again.
“I… gulp… d*mn…” Little Qi was truly having a terrible day.
An Bu glanced at them, and most of the people showed signs of impending death, although not immediate. She had no way to retreat. If she abandoned them, these people might all die.
Ignoring them, An Bu gathered the death energy and continued moving towards the center of the ancient tomb. The closer she got, the weaker the barrier formed by her life force became, and her life force value gradually increased.
Upon entering the cave, An Bu’s figure was completely engulfed by the death energy, and the corpse blood within her surged and boiled, eager to absorb them. She forcefully suppressed this desire, bit her finger, and used the corpse blood to draw a formation on the ground.
Absorbing life force could make her appear as lively as a normal person. If she absorbed death energy, she would completely lose human emotions and become a walking corpse that only knew how to consume death energy.
An Bu did her best, just to retain that tiny bit of vitality belonging to a living person. Regardless of the circumstances, she would not give up.
The external noise gradually faded away, and her surroundings turned pitch black. There was a deathly silence, as if only An Bu existed in this space.
She could no longer hear any sounds, smell anything, or see anything. The Feng Shui array on the ground could only be drawn based on her feelings, a difficult and laborious task.
This was the world invaded by death energy, chaotic and yin energy, with nothing remaining.
When she completed the last stroke, her fingertips seemed to be attracted by some force. The next second, the death energy around her formed a massive vortex, madly surging towards the formation on the ground.
Under this force, the life force barrier around An Bu shattered, and her death energy value skyrocketed rapidly.
An Bu’s eyes gradually turned as thick as ink, memories in her mind disappearing bit by bit, as if washed away. No, she didn’t want to lose her memories, didn’t want to start over, and definitely didn’t want to forget her cat master!
She had put in so much effort to have her current life. How much knowledge had she studied to become who she was now? If everything started over, she didn’t know if she could continue.
Curling up on the ground, fists clenched, An Bu activated the Destiny life force value for the first time, resisting the death energy from the outside.
-10, -25, -40… Each point represented a precious wealth accumulated through saving people in just a few dozen seconds, consuming over four hundred points.
Only when all the death energy was absorbed by the formation did the decline in life force value stop.
An Bu’s vision and hearing gradually recovered, she could only see blurry images and hear faint sounds. Memories were forcibly wiped away, her brain felt heavy, her body swayed, and An Bu fainted on the ground.
As a walking corpse, An Bu had always been conscious, but this time, she fell into a passive sleep under the impact of life force and death energy.
At this moment, not far from the cave where An Bu was located, the old Feng Shui master was sticking talismans everywhere, chanting incantations. As An Bu sealed the death energy, the people’s consciousness gradually cleared, and they all thought it was the old Feng Shui master’s doing. Looking at him, their eyes were filled with admiration. Even Ge Tingting began to doubt if she had misunderstood him.
“Hey? Look quickly, it seems there’s someone lying over there?” At this moment, a crew member pointed to the cave where An Bu was located and shouted.
Everyone followed his gaze and indeed saw someone lying there.
Ge Tingting’s heart tightened, quickly walking over to help the person up. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be An Bu.
“Sister-in-law!” When did she arrive, and why did she faint here?
Ge Tingting suddenly caught sight of a strange pattern on the ground, and a realization dawned on her. The reason the resort returned to normal was probably because of An Bu. Although she had previously claimed not to care, she still rushed over despite the danger when the director called for help.
“An Bu, wake up!” Ge Tingting anxiously called.
“Tsk tsk, is this the expert you invited? I’ve said before, a little girl with no skills won’t amount to anything. Look, she’s now fainted out of fear, right?” The old Feng Shui master lectured with the tone of an elder.
“Shut up!” Ge Tingting glared at him, then turned to the director and said, “Director, could you please help me call an ambulance?”
The director looked strange, hesitated, and said, “Tingting… I feel like Miss An… seems to have…”
“What?”
The director struggled and said, “…Seems to have no breath left…”
“What nonsense are you talking about!” Ge Tingting’s face turned pale, staring at An Bu in her arms, her body cold, and no signs of breath. She trembled, holding An Bu’s wrist, finding no pulse…
No, no way! How could she die? How could she die!
Ge Tingting’s mind went blank, and she was completely stunned.
She couldn’t imagine how her cousin would react to this news. The Jian family knew how deep his feelings were for An Bu. Originally, a happy couple, separated by her capriciousness, this guilt would surely torment her for a lifetime.
“Cousin-in-law, don’t scare me, wake up…” Ge Tingting hugged An Bu and cried uncontrollably.
After getting off the plane, Jian Ningxuan didn’t call An Bu, wanting to give her a surprise.
Entering the house, Jian Ningxuan put away his luggage, looked at the colorful decorations in the house with joy, took out his phone, checked An Bu’s location, and found that she was near the hot spring resort.
Is she soaking in the hot spring again? Jian Ningxuan hesitated whether to wait for her at home or go directly to find her.
Let’s go find her!
He didn’t want to wait for a moment.
Holding the keys, just about to leave, the phone rang suddenly, and Ge Tingting was calling.
Jian Ningxuan walked downstairs while answering the phone, “What’s wrong?”
“Cousin, cousin, come back quickly…” Ge Tingting’s voice was hoarse as she cried.
“What happened?” Jian Ningxuan stopped in his tracks.
“Sister-in-law had an accident… Sister-in-law is dead…”
Jian Ningxuan felt like he heard it wrong, “Which sister-in-law?”
“An Bu, An Bu, wu wu wu…”
“What… What did you just say? Say it again.”
“Sorry, cousin, Sister-in-law An Bu, she’s dead, dead…”
Jian Ningxuan stood still, his brain spinning for a while before finding his voice, “Where is she?”
“Hospital, we’re at the central hospital…”
Without waiting for her to finish, Jian Ningxuan rushed into the parking lot, drove towards the central hospital.
His expression was blank, and the dreadful news he had just received still felt unreal.
How could his An Bu die? She said she would be studying cuisine at home, waiting for him to come back and taste it.
The thirty-minute journey took Jian Ningxuan only twenty minutes to reach the destination.
Ge Sirui, Ge Tingting’s brother, was waiting for him at the entrance. Seeing him approaching, Ge Sirui immediately greeted him, his face solemn, “Ningxuan, I’m very sorry…”
“Where is she?” Jian Ningxuan stared at him coldly.
Ge Sirui hesitated in his speech and didn’t say much, leading him to the ward where An Bu was.
Later, Ge Tingting called for an ambulance and took An Bu to the hospital. After the examination, the doctor predictably pronounced her death, but the cause of death had not yet been determined.
Jian Ningxuan walked into the ward, looked at the serene face on the bed, and couldn’t believe that she was already gone.
He squatted by the bedside, gently holding An Bu’s hand, his brain losing the ability to think, feeling that his soul was torn into countless pieces, drifting and unable to piece itself together.
“Cousin…” Ge Tingting was about to say something, but was pulled out of the ward by Ge Sirui.
Jian Ningxuan wanted to call An Bu’s name but found that he couldn’t make any sound.
Her departure seemed to take away all his feelings.
The treasure he had finally found was lost like this…
