Chapter 85: Mrs. J

Jian Ningxuan chose a seat furthest from Molly, with An Bu sitting in between. An Bu then handed them each a bowl of rice, one big and one small.
An Bu set the table with food. Molly noticed that everyone had different bowls—hers was a little fish, An Bu’s was flowery, and Uncle Jian’s was a cat. The plates on the table were colorful and varied, making it a delightful sight.
After a while, as Molly ate, she surreptitiously glanced several times at Jian Ningxuan, who was enjoying his fish. Finally, she gathered the courage and softly called, “Uncle Jian.”
Jian Ningxuan raised his eyes, indicating that she could speak.
“I want to eat lobster. Can you peel one for me?” Molly timidly requested.
Without saying a word, Jian Ningxuan put on disposable gloves and peeled seven lobsters, giving three to Molly, one to An Bu, and keeping the remaining three for himself.
“Why does Little Bear Sister only have one?” Molly asked curiously.
“She doesn’t like lobsters; she only likes vegetables and fruits.” Jian Ningxuan looked at her sternly. Why call An Bu “Sister” and him “Uncle”? Do you know the difference in generations?
Molly completely failed to grasp his meaning, showing a “so that’s how it is” expression on her face.
An Bu: Back in the day, she also used to love eating lobsters…
“I haven’t had lobster in a long time.” Molly nostalgically looked at the lobster meat in her bowl. “My parents used to take me out to eat it frequently.”
An Bu asked, “When they come back, you can ask them to take you out.”
“They haven’t contacted me for almost a month, and I don’t know when they’ll be back.” Molly, with a desolate expression, finished eating a lobster.
“A month?” An Bu was surprised. “How long have they been abroad? Where did they go?”
“For over half a year, a month ago on Big Tortoise Island, and three months ago on Monkey Head Island.”
An Bu estimated that Molly was referring to “Daxi Silicon Island” and “Huotu Island.” These places were mostly primitive forests or hilly swamps, not suitable for travel.
“Molly, what do your parents do?”
Molly thought for a moment, hesitatingly replied, “Dad is a geneticist, and Mom is a plant superhero.”
An Bu: Geneticist and botanist, right…
Unexpectedly, Molly’s parents were scientists. However, they shouldn’t be so neglectful of their child. Even if they were busy, not contacting her for a month was too much. Could something have happened to them?
An Bu then asked, “Has that Aunt Sun been taking care of your daily life?”
“Not really.” Molly shook her head. “She only came to my house last year, and she was nice to me at first. But when my parents went abroad, she stopped liking me. Maybe I’m too clumsy, always making her angry.”
An Bu clenched her fist. “Who said you’re clumsy? I’ll teach her a lesson for you.”
Molly shyly smiled.
Jian Ningxuan had been silently listening to their conversation, noticing that An Bu didn’t seem familiar with this little girl. Why was she asking about her family?
After finishing dinner, An Bu washed Molly’s face, placed her on the living room sofa with a cup of juice, and let her watch cartoons.
Later, An Bu made a call to Molly’s home using her phone, and after seven or eight rings, someone finally answered.
“Hello, is this Aunt Sun…”
Before An Bu could say anything, an impatient voice interrupted her, “What are you calling so late for? You’re disturbing people’s sleep! Don’t you let people rest anymore?!”
An Bu: “…” Are you sleeping? Haven’t you noticed that Molly is missing!
“Hello, I’m An Bu, Molly’s friend. She will be staying at my place for the weekend. I hope you…”
“Molly… Right, why hasn’t that girl come back yet? Staying at your place? Who are you? Who gave you permission to do this?” Aunt Sun’s speech was a bit slurred, and her tone was very irritable.
An Bu frowned. “Are you drunk?”
“None of your business whether I’m drunk or not! I warn you, send Molly back immediately, or don’t blame me for calling the police.”
“Go ahead and call.” An Bu decisively hung up the phone.
As a professional nanny taking care of children, getting drunk to the point of slurred speech was unacceptable. How did such a person pass the resume review?
Molly looked at An Bu timidly. “Is she asking you to send me back?”
“No worries, stay here with peace of mind.” An Bu paused and asked, “Does Aunt Sun often drink?”
Molly nodded.
“When she’s drunk, does she ever hit you?”
Molly shook her head and whispered, “She has never hit me, but she locks me in my room, doesn’t let me eat, and only lets me out the next day when I go to school.”
An Bu and Jian Ningxuan exchanged a glance, deciding not to let that nanny get close to Molly again.
Jian Ningxuan suddenly asked, “What’s her full name?”
Molly took out her notebook from her school bag, showing the nanny’s signature: Sun Caizhen.
“Enough about her.” An Bu held Molly’s hand. “Let’s go, time for a bath. Do you have any homework left? After the bath, I’ll help you with it.”
“Okay.” Molly nodded cheerfully. As long as there was someone to accompany her, she wasn’t afraid of doing homework.
Jian Ningxuan called the bodyguard, instructing him to buy a set of children’s toiletries and two sets of children’s clothing. Then he opened his computer and searched for information about Sun Caizhen. Nannies are usually hired through household service companies, and with Molly’s parents’ status, they shouldn’t randomly find someone online.
After a moment, Jian Ningxuan found Sun Caizhen’s basic information. Her public resume appeared clean, with extensive experience and a good reputation. However, upon further investigation, Jian Ningxuan discovered that she had been repeatedly complained about for misconduct, including alcoholism, theft, and irresponsibility. However, this information was concealed by the household service company.
Jian Ningxuan then investigated Molly’s parents, but unfortunately, they had been abroad for over half a year, and their contact information was not readily available. It was challenging to track down their location. Other relatives of Molly’s family were either abroad or in rural areas, making it difficult for them to come quickly. Jian Ningxuan also didn’t know what their relationships were like.
Although he had a way to deal with the nanny, after dealing with her, who would take care of Molly?
At night, after Molly fell asleep, Jian Ningxuan discussed this issue with An Bu.
An Bu replied, “I won’t raise a child, and neither will you.”
Both of them, one with high temperatures and the other radiating an ominous aura, were not suitable for raising children. At most, Molly could stay for two days, and then she had to be sent away once she passed the death deadline.
“With her parents temporarily unreachable, how do you plan to arrange her?”
“Leave her to the school teachers or hire a new nanny for her?” An Bu sought Jian Ningxuan’s opinion. “What do you think?”
“Yeah, you handle it, and I’ll take care of overseeing.” Knowing that An Bu didn’t mean to personally take care of Molly, Jian Ningxuan relaxed. If there was such a little thing at home, he would probably have to be cautious with every breath; who knows if she might get heatstroke just because he breathed a bit too much.
The next day, An Bu noticed that the death energy around Molly had become more intense, and there were just over 6 hours left until her death.
Jian Ningxuan invited his team to dinner today and specifically asked An Bu to join.
So the two of them, along with Molly, went out together to the reserved restaurant.
Jian Ningxuan’s team members often traveled on business, collecting various consultations all over the world. Since they had recently completed some major deals, making a small profit of a few billion, they decided to celebrate.
It was An Bu’s first time meeting Jian Ningxuan’s friends, and before this, she always thought he was so handsome that he had no friends.
In the private room, as everyone chatted, they stood up when Jian Ningxuan walked in. Soon, they saw An Bu and Molly behind him, all showing shocked expressions.
D*mn, the legendary perennial bachelor not only got a girlfriend but even has a child?!
Eight single dogs looked at their boss in despair: What happened to forming a group of lonely old people together!
“My girlfriend, An Bu,” Jian Ningxuan introduced calmly, but the radiant expression of love on his face was unbearable.
“Hello, Mrs. J, I’m called ‘Charm.'”
“Hello, Mrs. J, I’m ‘Windmill.'”
“I’m ‘Mouse,’ nice to meet you.”
…
An Bu: “…” What kind of weird nicknames are these? It’s completely different from the cool cat Master!
After they all introduced themselves, An Bu asked Jian Ningxuan, “Do you have a nickname?”
Jian Ningxuan: Cat Master.
“Of course,” Charm raised his hand. “The boss’s nickname is ‘Boss,’ ‘Mr. J.'”
An Bu laughed, “Should I also get a nickname?”
Jian Ningxuan nodded, seriously saying, “You can call yourself Mrs. J.”
Everyone: “…” The boss is naturally born to be cool; he doesn’t even have to try.
“Let’s eat.” Jian Ningxuan turned to the waiter, and everyone sat down, no longer making a fuss and started chatting about recent news.
An Bu helped wash the dishes while listening to their conversation. These people were industry elites, with agile minds and broad knowledge. She wondered how Jian Ningxuan managed to bring them under his command.
It was evident that these people had the same doubts.
Windmill asked, “Mrs. J, how did the boss pursue you?”
An Bu replied with two words, “Relying on looks.”
Jian Ningxuan: “…”
“No way?” Mouse self-promoted, “Mrs. J, look at me, I don’t look worse than the boss. Do you want to consider me?”
Jian Ningxuan cast a disdainful glance at him.
An Bu chuckled, “You’re too dark.”
Too, dark! He was the whitest among them! He could accept any other reasons, but this one he wouldn’t!
Mouse said in dissatisfaction, “I’m obviously whiter than the boss! Even though you’re the boss’s girlfriend, you shouldn’t ignore facts!”
An Bu said, “In my eyes, he shines, and you don’t.”
Jian Ningxuan shining: (=ω=)☆
Mouse: Single dogs shouldn’t argue with those in love; you can’t win…
As the dishes were served, everyone chatted happily, and the atmosphere was lively.
At that moment, An Bu’s phone suddenly rang, displaying an unknown number.
She apologized to everyone and stood up to the side to answer the phone.
“Hello.”
“Hello, may I speak to Ms. An Bu?” A strange baritone voice came through the phone.
“Yes, who is this?”
“I’m a police officer from the Chengnan Police Station. We received a report that you took away an 8-year-old girl without authorization. To avoid misunderstandings, we hope you can come to the police station to explain the situation.”
An Bu subconsciously looked at Molly, only to see her enveloped in an aura of death. The fragile flame of her life was like a candle flickering in the wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment.
There was only 1 hour left until her death.
Strange, she had already kept Molly away from that nanny, so why was the death aura on her still intensifying? Could her impending death be unrelated to that nanny?
