Chapter 84: Molly

In the past two or three days, Jian Ningxuan had several important trading plans. Therefore, he temporarily stationed himself at the company, closely monitoring the market with his team, ready to respond to any changes.

Without her portable charger, An Bu resumed her usual routine, spending half her time at home and half outside. Three days had passed since rescuing Zhong Rui. Calculating the time, there were only two days left for the little girl Molly, whom she had encountered in the mall. An Bu decided to visit her and see how she was doing.

At 4:30 in the afternoon, the dismissal bell rang punctually at Huimin Elementary School. An Bu leaned against the car door, watching the stream of elementary school students pouring out, lively and full of energy. She usually didn’t get close to children because the death aura on her might have some impact on them. Fortunately, in a bustling city, this effect wasn’t very noticeable.

However, before long, An Bu spotted Molly in her line of sight. Molly walked alone, head down, quietly moving forward without taking the school bus, and no one came to pick her up.

An Bu turned to the driver and bodyguard in the driver’s seat and said, “Wait for me at the Jixing intersection; I’ll be back shortly.”

“Miss An…” Before the bodyguard could object, An Bu had already followed Molly.

Molly walked along the street to the west, her gaze vacant and heavy, lacking the innocence and liveliness expected of her age.

After about ten minutes, she arrived at a two-story detached house. Molly pressed the doorbell, and after waiting for a long time with no one answering, she seemed accustomed to it. Her face showed no expression as she sat on the steps at the door, hugging her knees and waiting quietly.

An Bu felt strange; if this was Molly’s home, why didn’t she have keys? Did she forget them?

After waiting for more than ten minutes with no one returning, An Bu was considering whether to approach and chat with her when Molly suddenly did something surprising. She took out a pencil sharpener from her school bag, cut a wound on her finger, and bright red blood immediately flowed from the cut.

An Bu opened her mouth, took a step toward her, but then stopped after two steps. Her gaze fell on the place where the blood was dripping, where a group of ants was slowly gathering. Shortly after, a few wild cats came running from nearby and surrounded Molly, licking the blood on the ground and her hand.

Molly touched the bodies of the cats, and her originally stiff face finally showed a happy smile.

An Bu quickly realized that Molly might be a special blood donor, and the blood on her body had miraculous healing effects. Of course, it wasn’t the kind of extraordinary existence that could revive the dead or cure all diseases. Instead, the serum in the blood could provide essential substances for cell growth, effectively inhibit the spread of cancer cells, and have anti-aging effects, like a natural evolutionary element, very rare.

An Bu had encountered a few of them before, most of whom were recruited by well-paying institutions. Only a few individuals with significant backgrounds managed to avoid being controlled.

Judging by Molly’s appearance, it seemed that no one had discovered her special abilities yet.

An Bu thought for a moment and decided not to approach rashly. Instead, she stood outside the yard and called out to her, “Molly.”

Molly raised her head, looked at An Bu warily, then relaxed, a hint of curiosity flashing in her eyes.

“Do you still remember me?” An Bu asked with a smile.

Molly nodded, “You’re Little Bear Sister.”

An Bu had given her a teddy bear before, so she called her “Little Bear Sister.”

“Why are you sitting here alone? Where are your mom and dad?” An Bu asked.

Molly didn’t answer the question, just silently looked at her.

An Bu guessed that she might be wary of strangers, so she didn’t continue probing. Instead, she asked, “Molly, why did you cut yourself?”

Molly looked at the cats wandering in the yard, whispered, “I want to be friends with them.”

Molly’s expression dimmed as she held her fingers, silent and thoughtful.

“Friendship isn’t built like this,” An Bu crouched down, hands folded on her knees. “If I want to be friends with you, I would give you a teddy bear.”

Molly’s eyes brightened, and she looked up at An Bu.

An Bu continued, “Do you still have that teddy bear?”

Molly took out the teddy bear from her school bag and shook it shyly.

An Bu laughed, “It seems that Molly also wants to be friends with me. Hello, Molly, my name is An Bu.”

An Bu… Molly murmured while holding the teddy bear, repeating it a few times.

She became a bit introverted, but not like the type who couldn’t make friends.

An Bu asked, “Molly, when will your family come back?” Looking at the time, it was 5:55, and ordinary office workers should be off work.

“I don’t know,” Molly, who was now less guarded against An Bu, said. “Auntie Sun often goes out to play cards, and there’s no fixed time.”

“Auntie Sun?” An Bu recalled the woman she saw in the mall last time. “Who is she to you?”

“My nanny.”

An Bu was speechless. How could there be such a nanny? Letting a seven or eight-year-old child go home alone, and after returning home, not being able to get inside. What if something happened?

“Do you not have keys to your home?” An Bu asked.

Molly replied, “Auntie Sun said it’s not safe for me to carry keys.”

Is it safer for a child to be left alone outside than carrying keys? An Bu asked again, “Do your mom and dad know about this?”

“Dad and Mom have gone abroad and won’t be back for a long time. Auntie Sun doesn’t allow me to speak ill of her; otherwise, she won’t give me food, and she’ll sell me.” Molly stared at her small feet, her face showing a hint of fear.

An Bu suspected that Molly’s death was most likely related to this nanny.

After thinking for a moment, An Bu invited, “Molly, tomorrow is the weekend, do you want to come to my house? I’ll make lots of delicious food.”

Molly hesitated but then said dejectedly, “Auntie Sun won’t agree. She doesn’t let me talk to others or play with others.”

“It’s okay; we’ll just contact your mom and dad directly.”

Molly became even more dejected, “Every time it’s them contacting me. I can’t reach them.”

What kind of parents were they? It wasn’t easy for Molly to live healthy until now.

“In that case, Auntie Sun also can’t reach them?”

Molly nodded.

“Good.” An Bu stood up and waved to Molly. “Come here, come with me. Later, I’ll call your Aunt Sun and let her know you’re staying overnight at my place.”

“What if she insists on me going home?” Molly wanted to make friends, but every time Aunt Sun stopped her. As soon as she saw Molly with someone else, she would drive that person away harshly. Now, no one at school was willing to interact with her.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” Tomorrow was Molly’s deadline, keeping her by her side might help her avoid the impending disaster.

Finally persuaded, Molly carried her school bag and walked out of the yard with An Bu.

So, trafficking children is really a straightforward matter. Innocent children are just too easy to deceive… Wishing all human traffickers an unfortunate end!

Meanwhile, the bodyguard uncle at the Jixing intersection was already feeling a bit weary from waiting. Just as he took out his phone to call An Bu, he saw her coming around the corner, holding the hand of a little girl.

The bodyguard quickly got out of the car, opened the door, and waited for An Bu to approach. Unable to contain his curiosity, he asked, “Who’s this child?”

“Picked her up on the way.” An Bu lifted Molly into the car and smiled, “How about it? Isn’t she adorable?”

The bodyguard’s mouth twitched. “Hehe, as adorable as you. But, does Mr. Jian know about ‘picking up’ a child on a whim?”

“He’ll know when he comes back. Now, let’s drive. I need to get back quickly to make something delicious for this cutie.”

The bodyguard didn’t say much more, clearing his mind and focusing on driving. Let Mr. Jian worry about this matter himself; after all, women and children were his concerns.

An Bu brought Molly home, helped her put away her school bag, tended to her wound, then turned on the TV, handing her the remote to play with.

Sitting upright, Molly observed her surroundings with curiosity. Her face showed a mix of restraint and excitement.

An Bu walked over with a plate of fruits, sat beside her, and then, using a knife, skillfully carved a cute bear out of a piece of melon.

Molly widened her eyes, marveling at the scene.

“Give it a try.”

Taking the melon bear from An Bu, Molly hesitated, reluctant to eat it.

An Bu smiled and carved a rabbit, a fox, and a little pig successively.

A round of fancy carving skills instantly skyrocketed Molly’s favorability. She looked at An Bu with great admiration, as if she was watching Barbara the Little Witch.

“You can play alone for a while; I’ll go cook.” An Bu stood up to leave but was stopped by a small hand grabbing her clothes.

Turning around, she saw Molly with an expectant expression, asking, “Little Bear Sister, can I come watch you cook?”

Thinking that An Bu, who could turn fruit into little animals, could probably do something even more magical with food, Molly asked with anticipation.

“Sure, let’s do it together.” An Bu smiled.

In her heart, Molly cheered and followed An Bu into the kitchen, wearing oversized slippers.

At 7:00 in the evening, Jian Ningxuan returned home. As he looked up, he saw a child’s head on the dining table… Oh, no, a child with her chin resting on the table, staring fixedly at him with big eyes.

Jian Ningxuan: “…” A strange creature appeared in the house.

“Mr. Jian, you’re back.” An Bu, carrying a tray, walked out of the kitchen. “Hurry, wash your hands. Dinner is ready.”

Jian Ningxuan changed into slippers and walked over, glancing back and forth between An Bu and the little girl. How come, in just one day, An Bu brought a child home? Can’t afford to be careless even for a moment!

“This child is named ‘Molly.’ Her parents are abroad, and she’ll stay at our place for a couple of days.” An Bu saw him come back and felt relieved. With the protection of the cat master, she didn’t have to worry about her death energy affecting Molly.

“Molly, this is my friend. You can call him ‘Uncle Jian.'” An Bu introduced Jian Ningxuan to Molly.

Molly obediently greeted, “Uncle Jian.”

“Mmm.” Jian Ningxuan nodded coolly, looking at An Bu and then walking into the bathroom.

“Does Uncle Jian not like Molly?” Molly asked anxiously.

“Not at all.” An Bu whispered, “Uncle Jian just looks a bit stern, but he’s easy to get along with. If you don’t believe me, later, ask him to peel a lobster for you. He’ll definitely do it.”

Molly nodded, determined to try.

An Bu set the food on the table and then took out her phone to make a call to Molly’s home. However, once again, no one answered. She had already made several calls, and it was unacceptable for the nanny to still be absent at such a late hour, leaving a child unattended outside the door!
