Chapter 135: Fireworks

“This isn’t good, Zhu Zhu.” Yuwen Chu enveloped Mingzhu under him, kissing her gently and leisurely. Mingzhu felt like he was a lion sharpening his claws, ready to tear his prey into pieces. This man was too terrifying, the more she thought about it, the more she felt that way. To prevent the situation from getting out of control, Mingzhu forced herself to laugh and asked, “What’s not good?”

Yuwen Chu’s eyes were somewhat hazy. “You just said this is a mutual thing, but I’ve been pleasing you for a while now, shouldn’t you give me some feedback? Why do you keep wanting to escape? Are you scared? So, you’re also a coward.”

“What’s there to be afraid of? Why would I be scared?” Mingzhu retorted stubbornly. Even if she was scared to death, she would never admit it.

“You’re afraid you’ll fall in love with me, afraid you won’t be able to leave me.” Yuwen Chu smirked cunningly, looking very pleased with himself. “Actually, I’m quite nice. There’s no shame in liking me. I won’t laugh at you.”

“I’m not afraid of you.” Mingzhu gritted her teeth, pushing him away and straddling him. “Let’s see who’s afraid of who.”

Yuwen Chu looked at her with a smirk. “Let’s wait and see.”

Mingzhu pinched his chest muscles fiercely, and seeing him looking at her with profound meaning, she blushed and turned away in embarrassment. “Humph! You’re so full of yourself.”

Before she could escape, Yuwen Chu grabbed her hand and reached around her from behind, embracing her and resting his chin on her neck, his face against hers, whispering softly, “I am indeed quite full of myself. People need dreams, dare to think of beautiful things, only then will they have good luck.”

Mingzhu didn’t understand and didn’t want to understand. Her dreams had been too beautiful, so waking up felt particularly desolate and hopeless. If she were to dream again, it would be of a prosperous family, her father and brothers alive, and a peaceful life without suffering from loss and turmoil.

Yuwen Chu slipped his hand into her inner garment and kissed her lips again, gentle and passionate. Mingzhu felt breathless, overwhelmed by his kisses, and heard him whisper something in her ear, but she couldn’t make it out clearly. Instinctively, she held onto him tightly, anticipating what was about to happen, and shyly pleaded, “Be gentle.”

Yuwen Chu fell silent, trailing kisses down her cheek, even more tenderly than before. But Mingzhu still felt pain, which only made her more nervous, and the more painful it became, the more nervous she grew. She couldn’t help but cry, prompting Yuwen Chu to stop and gently kiss away her tears, sweating profusely but patiently comforting her with soft words, trying to reassure her that everything would be alright.

As Mingzhu cried, she gradually lost her strength, and with a soft “mm,” she hugged his shoulder lightly, exhausted.

Yuwen Chu’s eyes flashed with a hint of amusement. He exerted a sudden force, noticing Mingzhu’s tremble, and stopped, carefully examining her expression. Mingzhu didn’t think of herself as delicate, but she figured it was because he was being overly gentle and attentive that her pain seemed to magnify to the extreme. She didn’t want it to be like this, so she gritted her teeth, tears welling up as she looked at him, indicating that it was just a piece of cake.

Yuwen Chu’s gaze darkened as he held her tightly, whispering, “Zhu Zhu, if it hurts, let it hurt. You don’t have to pretend in front of me. Be yourself.” He knew what kind of person she was. He wanted her to treat him with her true fierceness, not with a mask of gentleness. His father was right; Mingzhu’s authenticity was the most precious treasure. He wanted the real Mingzhu, her true affection, not a facade of tolerance.

Mingzhu leaned her head lightly on his shoulder and whispered, “Yuwen Chu?” Hearing his grunt of acknowledgment, she asked, “If I’m good to you, you’ll be good to me, right?”

Yuwen Chu glanced at her and replied earnestly, “Naturally.”

Mingzhu couldn’t be sure if he meant it, but assuming he did, she continued, “If one day you don’t want me anymore, will you betray me behind my back, joining others to stab me?”

“No.” Yuwen Chu’s voice was firm and steady, carrying a convincing power.

Mingzhu smiled through her tears. “Good. I want to be good to you, sincerely. So don’t disappoint me.” For now, at least. If the past repeats itself, she would be the one to kill him with her own hands.

“Foolish.” Yuwen Chu sighed, holding her tighter and kissing her tenderly again.

With her eyes closed, Mingzhu felt like she was drifting in a boat, unable to say how much she liked it, but there was no longer the fear and disgust she felt before. She didn’t think about the past anymore. Who would have known that Yuwen Chu could be so gentle and caring? She admitted to herself that she wasn’t a heartless person, and she always repaid her debts. He was so tender and caring towards her, so she should reciprocate in some way, at least to let him know that she appreciated his kindness and remembered his affection.

Mingzhu quietly opened her eyes, peeking through her lashes to see Yuwen Chu looking at her with concentration. His gaze was as tender and affectionate as his actions, like the way her eldest brother looked at a rare and precious weapon… him treating her with such gentleness and care… if he could be like this with her forever, wouldn’t that be wonderful? Mingzhu felt a sudden wetness in her eyes. She tentatively hugged him back, softly calling his name, “Yuwen Chu, Yuwen Chu…”

Yuwen Chu stiffened for a moment, then gritted his teeth and let out a muffled groan, gripping her waist tightly and exerting force. Mingzhu, caught off guard, let out a low cry as fireworks burst before her eyes—a sensation she had never experienced before. She couldn’t understand why it felt different when Yuwen Chu did it. In a daze, she heard him whisper softly in her ear, “Zhu Zhu, I truly like you,” then he kissed her hair gently and tenderly.

After cleaning up, Mingzhu buried her head in the covers, feeling both embarrassed and annoyed. She hadn’t expected herself to lose control like that, nor had she expected such a boring and even terrifying thing to be played out by Yuwen Chu. It was too frightening, an experience she had never had before, and she felt a bit uneasy.

Yuwen Chu lay beside her, lazily smiling, grabbing a strand of her hair that escaped and twirling it around his fingers, the sweet scent of lilies lingering in the room, making even the air seem lazy and joyful.

Yuwen Chu looked at Mingzhu, who was still buried in the covers and motionless, feeling somewhat pleased. “Aren’t you bored?”

Ignoring him, Mingzhu pretended to be asleep, not hearing him. After a while, she only heard Yuwen Chu say, “Ah, already asleep? That’s not good. Let me lift you up and lay you flat.” Then he actually came to pull her blanket and reached into her covers.
