The door was pushed open from the outside, and a middle-aged man with an unremarkable appearance walked in, slowly approaching the bedside. Feng Zhe glared fiercely at the newcomer, but unexpectedly, the newcomer was different from the previous ones, speaking softly to Feng Zhe: “Someone named Little Chuan sent me here.”
Upon hearing this, Feng Zhe became agitated and struggled against the iron chains binding his hands.
The middle-aged man quickly shushed him, putting his index finger to his lips to signal Feng Zhe to be quiet. “Let’s make our move later. I’m afraid of retaliation. The Liu family has a lot of influence in the base. We haven’t heard from Little Chuan for the past two days. I’m afraid he’s probably in grave danger.” The man’s voice was filled with regret.
Feng Zhe’s eyes flashed with even greater ferocity; he no longer trusted the middle-aged man’s words. Little Chuan might be a possibility; he hadn’t mistreated him during all this time he’d been with him. Feng Zhe had never suffered such humiliation. “Liu Yue, you sl*t, you actually brought Liao Feifan to deal with me! I’ll make sure you regret this when I get out of here!”
The middle-aged man used his strength to help Feng Zhe break free of the chains on both sides. Meanwhile, someone outside was watching them through the window. Before leaving, the man left a bag. Feng Zhe opened it and found several level two or three crystal cores and a knife inside.
The middle-aged man walked out nonchalantly, received a crystal core at the door, thanked them profusely, and left. The guards at the door didn’t notice anything amiss. The man walked out of the street corner and turned into a small alley, nodding to the two people in the shadows, “All taken care of.”
One of the men standing in the shadows waved to the man without saying a word. The middle-aged man, clearly unfazed, nodded and left.
The man who had just waved his hand said to another man beside him, “Yueyue, let’s go. What’s there to see here? I’m hungry. I want to go back and eat the feast you made.”
Qi Yue glanced sideways at Tang Ke, his expression a mixture of affection and a half-smile, “Aren’t you curious why I did this?”
Tang Ke wasn’t interested at all. Even if Qi Yue hadn’t said anything, just based on the fact that they had tried to drug him at the banquet that day, he wouldn’t have let Feng Zhe and Liu Yue off the hook. Now that Qi Yue wanted to play, so be it.
“Yueyue, you can play however you want. Don’t even mention them, you can play with me too.” Tang Ke grinned and snuggled up to Qi Yue.
Qi Yue nudged the person who had brushed against him and gave them a slap in the stomach. “Have you no shame? What do you have that’s worth playing with?” After saying that, he looked the other person up and down, sneered, and left.
Tang Ke rubbed his stomach, watched the person walk away, and quickly chased after him. He put his hand on Qi Yue’s shoulder and shamelessly continued the previous topic: “I have a lot of things to play with, let’s have you start by playing with Little Brother Tang.”
Qi Yue remained unmoved, and said contemptuously as he walked away, “I’m tired of playing with Little Brother Tang. Now I want to play with Little Sister Tang.” He raised his eyebrows high and smiled, watching to see how Tang Ke would respond.
Tang Ke remained unfazed: “Little Sister Tang is too shy to be seen by people, so let’s play hard with Little Brother Tang and play a spitting game.”
Qi Yue scoffed even louder, his face showing regret at not seeing Tang Ke make a fool of himself, and decided to ignore this lecherous scoundrel.
Tang Ke persisted: “I heard from Oak that we’re having dog meat soup later. Are you looking down on little brother Tang?”
Seeing Qi Yue’s puzzled look, Tang Ke said sarcastically, “It’s my turn tonight. You must be upset that Little Brother Tang didn’t work hard enough before, so you specially made this to nourish me.” Then he added, “I will definitely not let you down. I’ll drink all the soup and show you my performance tonight.”
D*mn, dog meat soup is an aphrodisiac, I forgot about that. Qi Yue was annoyed and walked back faster. He couldn’t let this guy eat any more of that stuff.
Unfortunately, the dog meat soup was a huge hit. The half-eaten dog was completely destroyed, with not even a scrap left; the bones were smashed and all the marrow oil sucked out.
After the meal, the handsome young man who had spoken with Qi Yue in the kitchen earlier brought over a bespectacled man in his thirties who looked very refined.
To Qi Yue’s amusement and exasperation, the refined man kowtowed three times to him in an unyielding manner, serving as his apprenticeship ceremony. He even said that he would later bring a formal apprenticeship gift, supposedly a family heirloom passed down from his ancestors.
This refined-looking man was named Su Yan. His family had been imperial chefs for generations. His culinary skills were passed down through generations, and he had mastered all the techniques of Chinese cuisine, considering himself the best chef in China. He was truly ashamed that Qi Yue’s cooking was even better than his own pride and joy. People, filled with admiration, began to fawn over Qi Yue, praising his incredible skill and delicious food. The man, in his thirties, looked at Qi Yue with starry eyes, even through his thick glasses.
Looking at Qi Yue’s eldest disciple, there weren’t just one or two people with dark faces, there were three of them.
The living room is where the usual post-meal meeting takes place, and the conversation after dinner is mostly about people with superpowers.
As Tang Ke spoke, he glanced at the open kitchen door. The kitchen was right next to the living room. Through the wide-open door, he could see Qi Yue inside the living room, as well as the shifty-eyed bespectacled man next to him.
Yan Bin frowned, squeezing his hand on the bridge of his nose. Where did this chef come from? What kind of look was he giving Qi Yue?
Lin Yuze calmly sipped his tea, but kept glancing towards the kitchen every now and then. After a while, he frowned almost imperceptibly. No wonder this guy gave him a dog; he must have been born in the Year of the Dog, he’s practically wagging his tail.
Su Yan, Qi Yue’s newly accepted eldest disciple, was explaining the history of Chinese cuisine to him. Qi Yue listened with great interest. This Su Yan truly lived up to his reputation as the number one chef in China; his knowledge of food was exceptional. He didn’t look like a chef at all, more like a professor, and his speech was witty and engaging. The more Qi Yue looked at this place, the more satisfied he became. Although his own culinary skills stemmed from his special ability, he was now very interested in cooking. He was delighted to have someone to exchange ideas with and learn more about food pairings.
Su Yan, thirty years old, had only ever been interested in kitchen matters since childhood. He was also a bit of a simpleton, completely oblivious to the impending volcanic eruption outside. He and Qi Yue, master and apprentice, spent the entire afternoon whispering in the kitchen. Finally, seeing that it was getting late and fearing it would be too late to return for the apprenticeship gift after dinner, they hurriedly left, hoping to return before making dinner.
Watching the person leave, Yan Bin subtly winked at Gangster A, who was following beside him. The man quietly left the room and followed Qi Yue’s eldest disciple.
The arrangements were mostly complete, and all that was left was for departure. Everyone spent the afternoon whiling away in the living room. Oak and Yan Bin seemed to have a remarkable rapport; initially, it seemed they were kindred spirits, but surprisingly, Oak had previously been Yan Bin’s subordinate, having lost contact after the apocalypse. Now, after their reunion, Yan Bin, through some unknown means, had managed to get Oak following his subordinate. So, it turns out Qi Yue’s boss’s boss is now Yan Bin… Ugh…
Even after dinner, the eldest disciple still hadn’t appeared. Qi Yue kept craning his neck to look outside. Su Yan seemed like a man of his word, so why hadn’t he come when he promised? It wasn’t about any family heirloom; it was mainly because finding like-minded people was difficult.
Sighing, Qi Yue cleaned up the mess. It seemed Su Yan wasn’t coming. Su Yan had said he was knowledgeable about cuisines from various countries, and he had wanted to discuss French cooking with him.
Surprisingly, Yan Bin only stayed a short while after dinner before taking his leave. Just as he stepped out the door, Gangster A, who hadn’t shown up all afternoon, was already waiting nearby.
Gangster A stepped forward and reported directly: “Brother Bin, everything is ready. That kid won’t be showing up again for a while.”
Yan Bin looked at Gangster A.
Gangster A tactfully explained in detail: “I had someone beat him up and smash his glasses. That kid is nearsighted with a prescription of 2000 degrees. He can’t go out without glasses. We can’t find lenses with that prescription at the base right now.”
Yan Bin nodded and praised, “Well done.”
Gangster A grinned. Oh yeah, Brother Bin praised me, so from now on, he’ll be the one coming to eat with Brother Bin.
Qi Yue had been flirting with other men right in front of them all afternoon, so punishment was inevitable. That night, the two men who were supposed to take turns actually joined forces in a sinister way. Neither of them left, and after drinking the dog meat soup, they became even more powerful, making Qi Yue cry and beg for mercy to no avail.
As the moon rose above the treetops, Qi Yue struggled in dire straits, while the three men tumbled about.
District C is the base’s well-known hotspot for prostit*tion. At the end of a dark alley, a small courtyard sits. This courtyard is several streets away from Guan Fengzhe’s previous courtyard; it’s very secluded, and it’s difficult for anyone unfamiliar with the area to find it.
There were about seven or eight men who looked like thugs guarding the entrance and the courtyard, chatting and laughing in groups of two or three.
Liu Yue looked at the people in front of her with disdain. “Don’t try any of these little tricks. What do you want? I’ll give it to you. I advise you to release me right away, or my father won’t let you off the hook.” She was kidnapped by her family’s driver on her way to the research institute.
The men in front of her, with their lewd expressions, reached out and touched Liu Yue’s face. “Beautiful lady, will you give us anything we want?” The people next to her also started touching Liu Yue inappropriately, making lewd noises and jeers.
Liu Yue questioned, “How dare you! Don’t you know who I am? My father is Liu Zhengnan from District B. What supplies do you want? Or crystal cores? I’ll give them to you.”
Liu Yue was also somewhat uncertain. Even the bodyguards who had served the Liu family for over a decade had been bribed. Could these people have been sent by Qi Yue? Impossible. Didn’t the person who sent them say that Qi Yue spent his days cooking in the house like a maid? That good-for-nothing wouldn’t dare to do such a thing. Who was it then?
She slapped away the hand that was touching her chest, and a sharp glint flashed in Liu Yue’s eyes. “Who sent you?”
“It’s me.” A voice came from outside the door. Feng Zhe pushed the door open and entered, followed by more than a dozen men who seemed to have been found from nowhere. The men had ugly faces, were of varying ages, and some looked to be around sixty or seventy years old. They were filthy and smelly.
Liu Yue instinctively covered her nose, her beautiful face tightly furrowed in frown. Feng Zhe, he actually managed to escape! Those idiots, what use are they? They can’t even keep an eye on a piece of trash.
“Cousin, I know you hate me, but you don’t know that what happened before was all forced upon me by Liao Feifan.” Liu Yue cried, feeling wronged.
Feng Zhe, like a ghost, his eyes flashing with venom, rubbed the bandage wrapped around his right hand and asked unhurriedly, “Oh? Liao Feifan forced you? Wasn’t this a pre-arranged plan to get rid of me?”
“Liao Feifan forced me while you were away. He forced me! He said if I didn’t agree to stand with him, he would kill me and my parents.” Liu Yue’s tears streamed down her face as she pushed past the people in front of her, trying to get to Feng Zhe’s side. But she was held back by them.
“Cousin, you must save me and get rid of that Liao Feifan. I’m already yours. If even you don’t help me, what’s the point of my life?” Liu Yue looked at Feng Zhe with a resentful expression, tears streaming down her face, looking pitiful.
Feng Zhe burst into laughter, then his face suddenly turned cold. “Cousin, I can’t bear to see you die. I’ll make sure you live happily forever.” As he spoke, he waved to someone next to him.
As Liu Yue watched the man approaching with a syringe in his hand, she took a step back and loudly questioned, “What is this?”
“Cousin, you’ve forgotten this? This is something you used to give me, saying it would keep me happy.” Feng Zhe spat on the ground. “But I can’t handle this stuff. You probably don’t know that I just came out of rehab before the apocalypse.”
She quit drugs a long time ago! Despite all that money he received, he’s already started playing mind games with her.
“Cousin, cousin, you are the one I love most, please don’t do this to me.” Liu Yue pushed away the person who came closer.
“Then prove how much you love me. Go in, stay by my side forever, and I’ll believe you.” Feng Zhe was a typical spoiled rich kid. He hadn’t been around for nothing after all these years; he’d seen it all, both in the underworld and the legitimate world. But he really hadn’t expected Liu Yue to be so ruthless towards him. If it weren’t for his help all these years, did this b*tch think she could have gotten so high?
The man holding the syringe turned around, seeking instructions from Feng Zhe. Feng Zhe impatiently snapped, “What the h*ll are you standing there for? Do you expect me to do it myself?”
Those who had previously groped Liu Yue swarmed forward, pinning her to the ground and tearing at the chest of her white dress. Some even covered her screaming mouth. Her snow-white arms were exposed, and the men in the room, their eyes gleaming with lust, swallowed hard. They had never seen such fair skin before, and this young woman was incredibly attractive, a hundred or a thousand times better than the women sold in District C. Some couldn’t resist reaching out to touch Liu Yue’s br*asts, kneading and fondling them.
Liu Yue struggled with muffled sobs, her eyes filled with intense hatred. With a forceful bite, she bit down on the hand that was covering her mouth.
“Ah.” The scream came from the man who had covered Liu Yue’s mouth. The man pulled his hand back, saw the blood streaming down his hand, and immediately slapped Liu Yue across the face in anger.
Liu Yue’s head hit the ground with a thud, and she fainted.
The man with the syringe stepped forward, pulled Liu Yue’s arm, and injected the substance from the syringe into her.
