No need for technique, no elaborate setup. Bo Jin gripped Xie Ruan’s hands, pressing the person he had longed for against the wall, kissing him thoroughly from inside out.
By the end, Xie Ruan’s cheeks were flushed, his mind hazy, almost forgetting where he was.
Bo Jin chuckled softly, unwilling to let go, pecking him lightly on the lips. “Are you okay?”
It was his first kiss, and he was so inexperienced he nearly suffocated his boyfriend.
It was Bo Jin’s fault, really—he took the blame willingly for once.
After all, this was something to be practiced diligently.
Luckily, they had plenty of time. They could easily explore all 108 kissing techniques together.
Bo Jin pressed his forehead against Xie Ruan’s, gazing at his close-up face, finding every part of him so lovable that he couldn’t get enough. If he could, he’d shrink him down and carry him around in his pocket, never letting him out of sight.
“What do you think?” Xie Ruan shot him an annoyed glare.
He had expected Bo Jin’s kiss to be like him—languid, carefree. But it turned out to be anything but; Bo Jin was a voracious beast, insatiable and forceful. He controlled everything, leaving Xie Ruan no room to resist.
“I think it’s perfect.” Bo Jin’s eyes sparkled with a satisfied smile, looking like a peacock in full display. “So good we should go again.”
Xie Ruan: “…”
He knew Bo Jin wouldn’t say anything decent!
“Get lost!”
“What happened tonight?” Bo Jin reached out to brush aside Xie Ruan’s damp hair and looked into his eyes. “Did your mom talk to you again?”
Smart as he was, Bo Jin couldn’t guess that Xie Ruan had gone to the orphanage and heard about his past from Aunt Feng.
Xie Ruan’s body tensed, then he lowered his gaze and mumbled, “…Yeah.”
Aunt Feng had told him that Bo Jin hadn’t been adopted again because they feared he’d be hurt once more. On the surface, the Shen couple looked fine, but no one knew how terrible things really were.
The orphanage would definitely keep this a secret from Bo Jin, and Xie Ruan would help protect it.
Fortunately, Bo Jin had already come up with an excuse for him. Otherwise, he’d have to come up with a lie on the spot that might not sound as convincing.
“Move in with me.”
Bo Jin had wanted to say that for a long time but hadn’t had the right to ask until now. But things were different; Xie Ruan was his boyfriend now.
He gently stroked Xie Ruan’s cheek, confidently saying, “Today. Move in.”
For the first time in his life, Bo Jin felt grateful for being an orphan.
He had the freedom to make his own choices without needing anyone else’s approval.
Xie Ruan shook his head. “Forget it.”
This was the second time he refused Bo Jin’s offer to live together.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to. If he could, he’d distance himself from his family for good. His mother had a supportive husband and a precious younger son, so he, the unnecessary older son, might as well leave.
He was just worried.
He wasn’t a particularly disciplined person. If he’d improved from the bottom of the class to this level, much of it was thanks to Bo Jin. If he moved in—
Xie Ruan glanced at Bo Jin’s sharp, handsome face, swallowing hard.
If he became too smitten with his boyfriend’s beauty and only wanted to be with him instead of studying, what then?
He only had one year left until graduation. Not getting into his ideal university would mean separation from Bo Jin, something no couple in love could bear.
Besides, he feared his mom would cause trouble.
Xie Ruan really didn’t know how to describe his mother. To say she didn’t care at all wasn’t true. She had some level of concern, though he found it ironic and unwanted.
He could imagine it clearly.
If he did move out, his mom wouldn’t listen to his side. Egged on by He Jinqing, she’d think he’d gone down a wrong path again.
One visit with her crying and lecturing would be enough to bother him, and Bo Jin would get dragged into it, too.
The thought made Xie Ruan’s scalp prickle. He steadied himself and forced a smile. “It’s fine. One more year until college.”
Besides, he usually stayed on campus, spending little time at home.
Once he started senior year, breaks would be rare; only winter and summer vacations would require him to be home. He’d figure things out then.
Bo Jin cast a regretful glance at his bed and sighed. “Really not moving?”
He’d even replaced his bed; how could he not find someone to share it with?
Xie Ruan nodded.
“Alright.”
Bo Jin knew that Xie Ruan had already made up his mind and that nothing he said would change it, so he had to let it go with a hint of regret. Better to cherish the time they had now.
He gently tugged the back of Xie Ruan’s hair, lifting his face for another kiss. This time, it wasn’t hurried; the two shared a soft, lingering kiss until Bo Jin’s phone started to vibrate, breaking the moment.
“Is it someone with urgent business?” Xie Ruan tilted his head to avoid Bo Jin’s lips, gesturing for him to check his phone.
The series of messages made it seem as if someone was calling non-stop.
Bo Jin, unwilling to let the fleeting, precious moment slip away, brushed it off, continuing to kiss Xie Ruan and murmuring, “It’s nothing.”
“Check anyway,” Xie Ruan insisted, lacking Bo Jin’s thick skin and finding the ringing phone too distracting. It gave him the unsettling feeling of doing something forbidden with an audience, so he firmly pushed Bo Jin away.
“D*mn it…” Bo Jin muttered, frustrated. Of all times, who had the nerve to interrupt now?
He sneered, pulling Xie Ruan towards the master bedroom to see just who this tactless intruder was.
The screen was flooded with messages from Sun Haoxiang.
[After repeatedly turning down the school beauty, Sun Haoxiang]: “Brother Bo, nice play! You’re amazing, my Bo!”
[After repeatedly turning down the school beauty, Sun Haoxiang]: “Come on, let’s play another round!”
[After repeatedly turning down the school beauty, Sun Haoxiang]: “Hey?? Where’d you go??”
[After repeatedly turning down the school beauty, Sun Haoxiang]: “Brother Bo? God Bo? Bo the Dog?!”
[Beast of the World]: “Did you block me on WeChat or what? Guess what—I’ve still got QQ, hahaha!”
[Beast of the World]: “Are you seriously not there? Don’t play dead on me; I’m calling you!”
…..
Looking at the wall of senseless messages, Bo Jin smiled slightly—fine. He hadn’t wanted to mess with them, but they’d brought it upon themselves.
With his quick fingers, Bo Jin added an automatic reply. He was so fast that Xie Ruan couldn’t see what he’d typed, and just as he was curious about what Bo Jin had done, another message from Sun Haoxiang came through.
[Beast of the World]: “Could you at least acknowledge me?”
The next moment, Xie Ruan watched as an automatic reply popped up in the chat.
[Bo]: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
Xie Ruan: “…”
Xie Ruan: “!!!”
Did this guy have to show off like this?
Xie Ruan glanced at Bo Jin with a headache. “Delete that auto-reply.”
He could only imagine the chaos if their teacher or the dean contacted Bo Jin and saw that message…
But deleting it wasn’t going to happen. On the contrary, Bo Jin found it even more appealing.
It effortlessly broadcasted his and Xie Ruan’s relationship status and was sure to stir up some envy—convenient and efficient!
In a flash of inspiration, Bo Jin even changed the name of his Wi-Fi to match the boastful declaration.
Xie Ruan: “…”
He slumped against the headboard in resignation, looking like a defeated fish. Forget it. At least the auto-reply didn’t mention his name, so it was only Bo Jin’s reputation at stake.
And anyone seeing the auto-reply would know he was showing off, so they’d probably leave him alone.
But he was wrong. Only he was thinking logically.
Not only did Sun Haoxiang respond, but he even kept up a conversation with the auto-reply.
[Beast of the World]: “Whoa, when did you get a partner? Why didn’t I know?”
[Bo]: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
[Beast of the World]: “…Got it. Stop showing off. Is it Xie Ruan? You two really got together? Tell me everything.”
[Bo]: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
[Beast of the World]: “Can’t you talk without that phrase? Be honest or face the consequences—when did you two start dating? When we went to Phoenix Mountain, you weren’t together yet, right?”
[Bo]: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
[Beast of the World]: “Bo Jin!!”
[Bo]: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
…..
Xie Ruan covered his face, unable to watch. “Has he not realized it’s an auto-reply?”
“Do you think someone with his IQ could figure it out?” Bo Jin scoffed, tossing the phone aside. “Trust me, if no one clues him in, he’ll keep chatting with the auto-reply all afternoon.”
Xie Ruan: “…”
Xie Ruan: “…Impressive.”
Thanks to Sun Haoxiang, any lingering awkwardness with Bo Jin was completely gone now.
Bo Jin suddenly sucked on his lip, hissing slightly. “Ow…”
“What happened?”
“You don’t know?” Bo Jin raised an eyebrow, looking amused.
Xie Ruan blinked, confused. “Am I supposed to?”
Bo Jin touched the corner of his mouth, revealing a fresh, small bite mark. He laughed under Xie Ruan’s stunned expression. “You’ve got quite the sharp small teeth.”
Xie Ruan’s face turned bright red, almost burying himself in the covers.
While the two were wrapped up in their sweet moment, their newly heartbroken neighbor next door was in a much different mood.
He’d just moved in after breaking up with his girlfriend and was so out of it that he’d forgotten to set up Wi-Fi. Out of options, he had no choice but to try and piggyback on a neighbor’s signal.
As he searched for networks, he found only a few signals in the area.
No surprise, given that this was a high-end residential building with just two apartments per floor.
He felt relieved to find any signal at all. It was the end of the month, and he was almost out of data, yet he still had to join a video conference for work. Tough times for a heartbroken, overworked guy!
Wiping away a tear, he locked onto the strongest signal. But then he froze.
Amid the typical names like “TP-LINK-2112,” one stood out in glaring contrast: “I’m no longer single. Just so you know.”
The neighbor stared dumbfounded at the lines on his screen, fingers trembling slightly.
“D*mn it! Who’s so shamelessly cruel?!”
Being dumped was miserable enough; did they really have to flaunt their love life in his face too? Are they even human?!
In the silent night, a cry of rage echoed through the neighborhood.
“Ahhh! D*mn couples! D*mn lovey-dovey nonsense! Just drop dead, all of you!”
