Chapter 258: Mama Jiang is Angry, Prepares to Fight Back

Han Yunru furrowed her brows even tighter. “The contract states rent is paid monthly. How about this: I’ll forfeit the remaining rent for this month, but can you refund me next month’s rent?”
“Little Han, why are you being so stubborn?”
Han Yunru: “?”
“Sister Li, we’ve been neighbors for so many years without any disputes. You’re making this very difficult for me.”
“What’s there to be difficult about? You’re not renting my place anymore, so why even talk about it? Our good relationship was in the past. In a few months, you probably won’t even recognize me.”
“That’s not true! I’ll always remember you!”
“Alright, if you’re set on moving, then move. But I’m not giving you any money back.”
“Sister Li, life is hard for everyone. Jiang Da and I work from dawn till dusk, barely making ends meet. Please, show some understanding.” Han Yunru was still trying to negotiate kindly.
A month’s rent was over a thousand yuan. She felt it deeply.
“I understand you, but who will understand me? You decide to move without any notice. How am I supposed to find new tenants quickly?”
“We didn’t expect things to happen so fast…” Han Yunru tried to explain.
Sister Li interrupted with a cold laugh. “Little Han, I always thought you were sincere, but I didn’t expect you to be such a liar.”
“?”
“Buying a house isn’t something that happens overnight. Keeping it a secret and only telling me when you’re ready to move, as if someone is snatching your house. I have two houses, and I’m not this cautious!”
“It’s not like that, Sister Li. We just decided to buy the house today.”
“Buying and moving in on the same day, huh?”
Under Sister Li’s mocking gaze, Han Yunru slowly nodded. That was indeed the case.
“A new house?”
“Yes.”
Sister Li burst into laughter. “A new house? Bought and moved in on the same day? Don’t tell me you bought a fully furnished one.”
Han Yunru hesitated but nodded again. The villa was indeed fully furnished and could be described as luxurious.
“Pfft—Little Han, if you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. There are no fully furnished houses outside the fourth ring in Linhuai. Are you saying your house is within the fourth ring?”
“Yes.” Han Yunru didn’t understand why she was laughing.
Yutian Huafu was located at the junction of the second and third rings, not far from No. 1 High School.
“Nonsense! Do you know how much a fully furnished house within the fourth ring costs per square meter?”
“?”
“At least 30,000! You have two children, so at least three bedrooms, right? That’s over a hundred square meters, costing several million! Forget paying in full, you wouldn’t even be able to afford the down payment!”
Sister Li clicked her tongue. “If you don’t want to rent my house, just say so. What’s with all these excuses?”
“Sister Li, listen to me…”
“Enough, no more words. You want to move? Fine, be out by tomorrow. I’ll find new tenants.”
Throughout Sister Li’s barrage, Han Yunru didn’t have a chance to speak.
Sister Li continued, “Out of respect for our years of acquaintance, I’ll give you one last piece of advice. Think it over carefully. Once you move, I won’t rent to you again. No trust left…”
Even Han Yunru, with her good temper, couldn’t help but get angry. She lifted her chin and straightened her posture. “Don’t worry. Once we move, we have no plans to come back. Who would stay in a rented apartment when they have a new house?”
“That’s not certain. Some people blow their horn too much, and it bursts.”
Han Yunru: “We know our situation best. No need for your concern. But—”
Sister Li’s brow furrowed tighter.
Han Yunru: “You might not return the rent, but you should refund our 3,000 yuan deposit, right?”
Sister Li instinctively wanted to refuse. No way was she giving back any money.
But Han Yunru suddenly got assertive. “If you don’t return it, I’ll call the police. Even the stingiest landlords return the deposit. This matter will be talked about everywhere, and I won’t back down. If the police can’t help, I’ll go to the media and let the public judge.”
Sister Li flinched at the mention of the police. “The deposit, right? Fine, wait here!”
She took out her phone and transferred 3,000 yuan to Han Yunru on the spot.
“Happy now?”
Han Yunru showed no joy, only a hint of melancholy and resignation.
She realized that Sister Li wasn’t upset about them not renting anymore, but about them buying a new house.
The previous warmth was just the “strong” pitying the “weak.”
Once the “weak” improved their situation, even surpassing the “strong,” that pity turned into “jealousy” and “hatred.”
So be it. Human nature can’t be forced.
Han Yunru said, “Thank you for all your help over the years, regardless.”
“Hmph! Fake kindness! I’ll wait and see if you can actually live in a fully furnished house!”
…
That night, the Jiang family packed up everything to be moved. Jiang Fuyue also packed a suitcase, as she would be flying to the capital the day after tomorrow for the IPhO in D country. She decided to pack everything now to take to the villa.
At 7 AM, a moving truck from Yutian Huafu arrived downstairs, waiting quietly.
Jiang Da hadn’t slept all night, tossing and turning, making it hard for Han Yunru to rest as well.
“What are you doing? Can’t you settle down?”
Jiang Da paused, his voice muffled. “I’m afraid if I fall asleep, I’ll wake up and find it’s all just a dream.”
“I see you haven’t been pinched enough!” She reached out and pinched him.
“Ow! Stop, stop… Wife, it hurts!”
“Now can you sleep?”
A quarter of an hour later.
Jiang Da: “Wife, I still can’t sleep.”
Han Yunru: “…”
The couple endured until dawn. Jiang Da finally felt drowsy, but then the truck arrived.
Han Yunru: “Still lying there? Weren’t you saying you couldn’t sleep? Get up and move stuff!”
“Huh? Oh.”
Upstairs, at the Li household.
“Hey, honey, wake up. The Jiang family is moving.”
The previously sleeping Sister Li jumped up immediately. “Where? Let me see…”
Her husband pointed out the window.
Sister Li quickly got out of bed, rushing to the window. “They’re really moving? I need to check this out.”
She started getting dressed quickly.
Her husband was speechless. “What’s the point? It’s early morning, and their moving has nothing to do with you.”
“Hmph, Han Yunru said they bought a new house, fully furnished. I don’t believe it!”
“So what are you going to do?”
“Of course, I need to see where they’re moving. It’s probably some self-built house in a rural area outside the sixth ring. That’s all they could afford.”
“This is ridiculous! It makes no sense!”
“It’s meaningful to me! I can’t stand Han Yunru’s attitude when she asked for money. If they really bought a house within the fourth ring, I’ll give her my head as a stool to sit on!”
“Fine, do what you want. I’m going back to sleep.”
“No, get up!”
“Why?”
Sister Li threw his clothes at him. “They have a truck. How am I supposed to follow them on foot?”
“…”
“Quick! They might leave any moment!”
At 7:40, the truck was loaded, and the family of four got in.
Han Yunru: “Driver, let’s go.”
“Okay—”
A black Volkswagen discreetly followed them.
Sister Li: “Be careful not to get caught!”
Her husband was exasperated. “Early morning, sneaking around like this. Does it matter where they live? It has nothing to do with you!”
“Cut the crap! When I tell you to come along, you come along. Keep whining and see if I don’t—” Sister Li made a choking gesture.
Her husband shrank his neck and didn’t dare speak further, but his face was full of complaints.
As they turned a corner, the man suddenly paused. “This truck looks different…”
Sister Li: “What’s wrong with it? How is it different?”
“The design on the side of the truck seems to be the logo of some housing development. Which one was it again?”
