Chapter 23: Landing Preparation

Dong Du was carried into Zhu Di’s living quarters, then tossed onto the hard bed. He winced in pain and muttered, “That hurts! Why so rough!”

Zhu Di heard but didn’t respond. Instead, he pointed to the food on the table, signaling Dong Du to eat. Dong Du sniffed, not having any issues with the food, and went over to sit at the table, starting to eat.

Even though he had left the fortress office, Zhu Di still had a mountain of work. While Dong Du was eating, Zhu Di sat on the bed, going through documents. The living quarters weren’t spacious, each equipped with only one chair.

Dong Du, eating and stealing glances at Zhu Di, remembered Gneville’s words and subconsciously asked, “Haven’t you heard the rumors about us from the fortress?”

Zhu Di had no reaction, as if he hadn’t heard. So, Dong Du increased his volume, “Are you deaf? Why won’t you clarify the rumors about us?”

Zhu Di sighed and, with an indifferent gaze, glanced at Dong Du, “Don’t disturb me. I’m busy reading documents.”

Dong Du: “…”

He felt Zhu Di was completely unreasonable. A simple explanation wouldn’t cost him anything, so why make him guess with silence?

Having finished all the food Zhu Di brought, Dong Du moved from the chair to the bed, saying seriously, “If you answer seriously, I won’t bother you all the time. Can’t you just answer?”

Putting down the documents, Zhu Di, with emotionless eyes, met Dong Du’s gaze. In a flat tone, he said, “Because it’s unnecessary. Clarifying won’t change anything. Those who believe will continue to believe, and those who don’t won’t—You can go sleep on the floor.”

Dong Du: “Fine, what you said makes some sense—Do you just look at documents every day? Don’t you find life meaningless?”

Having said that, he opened the cabinet, took out cotton and a blanket, and spread them out. It was still the same place, the corner between the bed and the wardrobe. After laying everything out, he said, “Or maybe tonight, you can just sleep on the floor.”

Zhu Di glanced at the floor Dong Du prepared; it was neatly arranged. He moved from the bed to sit at the table. “I’ll sleep on the floor, you sleep first. Don’t disturb me while I work.”

Dong Du pursed his lips and ignored Zhu Di, entering the bathroom.

The bathroom emitted the sound of trickling water. Dong Du even hummed a strange tune while taking a bath. The scent of pheromones permeated the living quarters, and the more Zhu Di read documents, the redder his face became. Eventually, he took a deep breath, closed his eyes tightly.

Peach-flavored, the living quarters were filled with an unavoidable peach scent. The person in the bathroom, did he have any self-awareness as an omega?

After Dong Du finished his bath and came out, Zhu Di was no longer in the living quarters. He didn’t care where the General went, so he hung up his protective suit and crawled into the bed.

The living quarters were fully automatic. When no one was detected, the lights would automatically turn off. Zhu Di saw the lights in the living quarters go out and, holding the documents in his hand, returned to his room.

In the room, only Dong Du’s shallow breathing could be heard. With human activity, the overhead light automatically turned on, dazzling Dong Du’s eyebrows. He turned over and squeezed into the corner of the bed.

Zhu Di sat at the bedside, watching Dong Du move around, exposing his vulnerable and pale neck in front of him. The sheep-fat-like neck shimmered with a moist light, just like the person himself, as if he would break with a twist.

He reached out, about to touch, but abruptly stopped. He retracted his hand, let out a muffled sigh, and laid down on the floor.

This floor was really narrow; he couldn’t even stretch his legs, making his whole body uncomfortable.

Dong Du woke up early. In space, you couldn’t distinguish between night fall, but the clock’s hands had just pointed to five.

He was extremely excited, much more than his first mission with teammates. After all, he, like that piece of land, had crossed over from another world. He felt a natural affinity for that land, and stepping onto it was like returning home.

When he woke up, Zhu Di was still asleep. His forehead was furrowed, tightly curled up on the narrow floor, his furrowed brows resembling those trapped in a nightmare.

Once Dong Du finished his morning routine, he squatted beside the floor. Since Zhu Di easily found him yesterday, he figured he should live under Zhu Di’s surveillance. If he didn’t get Zhu Di’s approval, it would be challenging to successfully land.

Using the fringed straps of his backpack, he brushed Zhu Di’s face and softly said, “Wake up.”

With just a slight movement, Zhu Di opened his eyes. His eyes were different from before, now clear eyes filled with many bloodshot veins. The moment he opened his eyes, he pressed Dong Du down onto the floor.

Dong Du was bewildered, staring, “What, why? I didn’t intentionally mess with you.”

Zhu Di stared at him in silence, his eyes so red they seemed ready to bleed. He smelled a peculiar fragrance, a mix of lemon and orange juice, making him a little dizzy.

Dong Du patted Zhu Di’s arm trapping him, “Let go of me, go wash up.”

Zhu Di didn’t react. After a while, he softened his arm, pressing heavily onto Dong Du, “Don’t disturb me when sleeping next time.”

Their weights were too disparate. Dong Du’s current speech even sounded nasally, “Okay, okay, won’t disturb you next time. Hurry up, get up, you’re so heavy.”

Zhu Di followed Dong Du’s push and got up, sitting on the edge of the floor. He rubbed his forehead before heading into the bathroom. Dong Du got up, rubbing his neck and letting out a deep groan.

This guy was too heavy, like a 300-pound pig.

When Zhu Di came out of the bathroom, he was already dressed. Previously, Dong Du always saw him in military uniform, but today he was wearing a white protective suit.

His hair was somewhat grayish-black, and his deep tea-colored eyes were like a secluded spring. Paired with the white protective suit, he appeared especially cold and restrained.

Without waiting for Zhu Di to do anything, Dong Du took the initiative to approach, “Are we landing today? Can I come with you?”

Zhu Di glanced at him, “No.”

“Please, please.” Dong Du looked at Zhu Di with teary eyes. He knew reasoning with Zhu Di was useless, so he had to play the pitiful card, gently tugging at his sleeve. “I just want to see that land. I’ve been there before, but I couldn’t see it clearly. Please.”

Zhu Di stared at him coldly, “Novisane is looking for you. Be vigilant.”

“I’ll secretly hide in the crowd; he won’t find me.” Dong Du’s big watery eyes stared at Zhu Di without blinking. “Take me with you, just this once.”

Zhu Di remained silent, but he didn’t shake off Dong Du’s fingers pinching his protective suit. He stood there like an old monk in meditation, unmoving.

Gritting his teeth, Dong Du started cursing in his mind, but he still looked pitiful on the surface, carefully coaxing him and gently pulling on his sleeve. “This is the first time I’m begging someone. Please agree.”

Zhu Di, as if suddenly activated, walked straight to the door. When he reached the door and saw Dong Du hadn’t followed, still looking pitiful, he paused and said, “Go eat first. Don’t let Yars’ people notice you.”

Dong Du cheered, “Long live the General! The General is the best!”

Facing his rainbow farts, Zhu Di showed no reaction.

Dong Du didn’t expect him to react in any particular way. He followed Zhu Di to the cafeteria. Along the way, he attracted numerous gazes. Almost every soldier on the patrol ship knew him, so everyone expressed shock upon seeing him.

Han Lin vigorously shook Xue Nancheng, “Hey hey hey, that, that’s the little prince, right? Right?”

Xue Nancheng pushed him away, “It’s the little prince. Don’t go crazy; your eyes aren’t blurred.”

“Wasn’t he attending Omega Academy? Why did he suddenly appear here, and still following the General… Isn’t it impossible? Could it be that the little prince went to Omega Academy to marry the General? Is it true?” Han Lin was shocked.

Xue Nancheng rolled his eyes, “Quick, eat. We’re landing soon.”

When Dongdu was waiting in line for food, he deeply regretted not bringing his specially designed meal tray. Fortunately, the chef serving the food was the same as before, so he got a good harvest. When he went to find a seat, he was carrying two plates of food.

Hanchester looked at him in astonishment as he sat down in a corner. Following closely, Hanchester whispered, “Little Highness, why are you here?”

“I want to join the landing.” Dong Du glanced around, ensuring there was no one nearby, then whispered, “Zhu Di promised to take me.”

“The general?” Hanchester asked in surprise.

Before Dong Du could answer that question, a tray was placed beside him. Zhu Di, with an expressionless face, gave Hanchester a glance and said, “Chief Officer, please find another seat.”

Hanchester raised an eyebrow, “Why?”

“Dong Du infiltrated the patrol ship without authorization. We’ll be landing secretly later, and I hope not to attract attention.” Zhu Di didn’t take a seat, and he even held the tray, signaling that he wouldn’t sit with Dong Du.

Hanchester didn’t hesitate anymore and obediently changed his seat, sitting with Zhu Di. As soon as he sat down, he asked, “General, if Little Highness is going to land secretly, why bring him out?”

“For Yars, it’s a secret landing, but for Clos, it shouldn’t be a secret.” Zhu Di quickly and elegantly ate his meal. “You can’t possibly not understand this.”

“I misunderstood.” Hanchester quickly apologized.

If Clos’s soldiers knew that Dong Du was here, they would subconsciously pay attention to him, and in doing so, they would inadvertently play a role in protecting Dong Du.

Zhu Di didn’t reply and left after finishing his meal. He didn’t even pay attention to Dong Du. By now, a group of soldiers had gathered around Dong Du, enthusiastically discussing the upcoming landing.
