Chapter 35: Good Guy Card

Hearing Zhu Di’s words, Xia En’s face instantly turned pale. He pulled on the hem of Xi Yuan’s clothes, “I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t want to go to prison.”
Xi Yuan frowned and looked at Zhu Di, “Xia En couldn’t have committed murder. Just ask him like that, how can it clear Dong Du’s suspicion? Investigate it thoroughly before making conclusions.”
Zhu Di remained silent. Without a word, he cast a slight glance at Dong Du. Then, he stepped aside, letting Xi Yuan walk away with Xia En without looking back.
The two soldiers following behind Zhu Di couldn’t help but discuss quietly after Xi Yuan disappeared from view. “What did His Majesty mean just now?”
“His Majesty…no wonder Little Highness had such a hard time in the capital. He is easily framed by others.”
The two wanted to say more, but Dong Du patted their shoulders. “It’s okay, I’m fine. No need to be indignant for me. I’m living well now.”
Dong Du said so, but he couldn’t help but have suspicions. What kind of person was the original host? What did the original story write? Why did he transmigrate? Was it accidental or inevitable? Why did the floating land in the sky also come over simultaneously?
Xi Yuan’s attitude, the original Little Prince, with a title but no real power and no one to protect him, could he really do those things?
Zhu Di did not expect Dong Du to have such an attitude in this situation. Most people, even those closest to him, would be angry and unhappy when helping others, even deliberately smearing himself. But Dong Du, he was remarkably magnanimous.
The two soldiers walked away, but Zhu Di did not leave. He looked at Dong Du and said, “There is someone in prison. Perhaps you should meet him.”
“Who?” Dong Du scratched his curly hair, wondering if the person in prison was another mess left by the original Little Prince?
Zhu Di did not answer directly but asked, “Do you know how that prisoner died?”
“Why does it matter how he died?” Dong Du shrugged. “The important thing is that he was already sentenced to death. He was killed for no reason in prison. Maybe you should consider why he couldn’t wait until the day of his execution to die.”
“He died from a miniature timed bomb. It can be activated within three meters, and it explodes after the countdown is complete. This bomb has minimal power, and even if it explodes inside the body, it won’t damage the skin.” Zhu Di explained the cause of the person’s death and continued, “There is a special rule in Black Gold Fortress. On the day before the execution, death row inmates can meet me once to leave their last words.”
They had reached the entrance of the prison. The soldiers saluted and opened the prison gate for them.
Dong Du stood at the entrance without going in. He suddenly realized and smiled, “It seems that the person is afraid that he will say something when leaving his last words. His crime was destroying Gneville’s gland, and he had no connection with Gneville originally. Why would he want to destroy it? And he once said that Gneville was a gift from someone.”
Zhu Di did not respond. Instead, he said, “Your Highness, do you need to meet this person alone?”
Dong Du felt a bit uneasy. He always felt that the person he needed to meet was troublesome, and when Zhu Di asked if he needed to meet alone, it also meant that he might have some deep connection with this person.
There was a small glass window on the prison door. Dong Du looked through the window and saw the person Zhu Di brought him to see.
He originally thought it was a historical legacy problem left by the original owner, but unexpectedly, the person locked up was Chu Xuhuan. Perhaps he came after Dong Du reported to him. Unfortunately, he hadn’t caught Xia En yet, and Zhu Di had already captured him. Last time, he committed such an act, and Zhu Di would not be unprepared for him. Because he is a serious offender, Chu Xuhuan was wearing heavy shackles, even his eyes were covered, and he was tightly fixed to an iron chair, unable to move.
“Is this the person? Then, I need to meet him alone.” Dong Du’s face darkened, regretting that he didn’t bring a long package.
Zhu Di didn’t ask anything, just nodded and turned away.
He twisted open the iron door of the prison. The door bolt made a creaking sound. Without saying a word, Chu Xuhuan just lifted his head. Although he couldn’t see, it seemed like he was staring at Dong Du intensely. The air became quiet and oppressive. Chu Xuhuan pushed his mouth with his tongue, “Why did it take you so many days to come?”
Dong Du’s response was a powerful kick to Chu Xuhuan’s head. His head tilted ninety degrees, a trace of blood lingering on the corner of his mouth. Chu Xuhuan didn’t even hum, and there was even a smile in his tone, “I’m a bit angry.”
“Oh?” Dong Du coldly countered, “What are you angry about?”
When Chu Xuhuan turned his neck back, his bones made a cracking sound. His mouth was straight, and there was no hint of a smile, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll reveal your secrets?”
“Of course.” Dong Du squatted in front of him. “But Chu Xuhuan, that kick was for those who died unjustly in the hotel. Now that it’s done, we can talk about the terms.”
“You’re really overflowing with sympathy.” Chu Xuhuan sneered, “What about Xia En?”
“In Black Gold Fortress.” Dong Du blew on the ground twice and then sat down, “What about the things I want?”
“Do you think I would easily give them to you?” Chu Xuhuan said.
“If you give them to me, I might bring Xia En to you. But if you don’t, I’ll have you killed in prison. Then, when a bomb destroys your spaceship, who else can pick up that thing?” Dong Du deliberately threatened, “Don’t force me.”
Chu Xuhuan burst into laughter, exaggerated and loud. It was the first time Dong Du had seen him laugh like this, as if he had heard something particularly funny. He suddenly stopped laughing and collected himself, “Kill me? Have you ever killed anyone? Do you know how to kill someone?”
Slap.
Dong Du raised his hand and slapped Chu Xuhuan. “Killing is not a badge of honor. It doesn’t need to be glorious. Chu Xuhuan, have you ever thought about what you did wrong? What is human life to you? When you sleep, don’t you feel someone crying?”
“Of course not.” Chu Xuhuan’s voice was malicious. “Get lost. We have no deal to make.”
Without hesitation, Dong Du stood up, closed the prison door, and walked away without looking back.
A true villain, even if Buddha came, probably couldn’t save him.
Zhu Di was still at the prison door. Seeing Dong Du coming out with an unhappy face, he coldly asked, “What happened?”
“Nothing, just an unpleasant conversation with a villain.” He sniffed, “Why are you still here?”
Zhu Di followed Dong Du’s steps and walked toward the High Tower. After a long silence, he asked, “We have no evidence to charge Xia En. Without irrefutable evidence, His Majesty will definitely protect him. Do you have any thoughts?”
“Since it was Xia En who activated the bomb, he must have a triggering device. After he used that device, he wouldn’t just throw it away casually.” Dong Du was a bit impatient. He even had the impulse to release Chu Xuhuan and let him and Xia En torment each other. But once he did that, innocent people would undoubtedly be implicated.
He sighed deeply, “No one dares to search Xi Yuan’s room in the whole of Clos. I guess Xia En might hide the triggering device in Xi Yuan’s room.”
Zhu Di had actually thought of these issues a long time ago. However, as Dong Du said, no one dared to search Xi Yuan’s room. He brought up these points just because there was nothing else to say.
The two walked one after the other. Suddenly, Dong Du stopped his steps. He smiled, “I guess Xi Yuan couldn’t imagine that the heavily guarded High Tower would have someone daring to sneak in to search his room.”
Zhu Di raised an eyebrow, but he didn’t say anything. They silently parted ways on the 24th floor.
Dong Du returned to his room, stroking his chin with a serious expression. When he was not far from the door, his face suddenly changed, and he angrily kicked forward.
Novisane caught his ankle with his hand and smiled, “Why are you so violent every time we meet?”
“And why do you bully a robot?” Dong Du pulled Raptor up from the ground, scrutinizing it for any damage.
Earlier, Novisane had mischievously scratched Raptor as it lay on the ground. Since the robot couldn’t feel itching, Raptor had been rubbing against the floor.
Feeling wronged, Raptor didn’t say anything and slid behind Dong Du. The expression on its LED screen was one of fear.
Novisane leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching Dong Du comfort Raptor. Unhappy, he said, “Do you ever think of me? You only come to me when you need something.”
“Need something?” Dong Du retorted, then suddenly became excited. “Need something! Can you do me a favor?”
“For what?” Novisane still looked displeased, but he wouldn’t refuse Dong Du.
“Just tonight, invite Xi Yuan out. Delay him for two or three hours, that should be enough.” Dong Du opened the door and invited Novisane into his room. “Oh, and if Brovill and Xia En meet, let me know.”
If Xia En could have a spy, then Dong Du could have one too!
Dong Du was overjoyed!
Novisane readily agreed, lying on his bed afterward and taking a deep breath. “What do I get in return for helping you?”
Dong Du hesitated for a moment. “That guy named Meng Ruan likes Xia En, and he’s being used for nothing.”
“Nonsense!” Novisane objected. “Xia En is using Meng Ruan. He tells Meng Ruan that he likes him, says he wants to be with him, and even kisses him!”
Dong Du stared at Novisane for a while. This guy didn’t look kissable at all!
“Never mind, I don’t need your help. I can always knock Xi Yuan unconscious and, if necessary, give him another beating after he wakes up.” Dong Du pushed Novisane out. “You can go now.”
“Little peach, you really have no conscience.” Novisane, still clinging to the door frame, complained, “I came to see you on purpose.”
Even though Novisane came to see him, he was still kicked out. Dong Du grumbled as he rolled on the bed, wondering when he could knock out Xi Yuan. Then he received a message from Novisane.
“Gone out, three hours, act fast.”
Dong Du jumped up from the bed. “Great!”
Novisane, drop, good guy card!
