Chapter 36: Got it?!

Dong Du quickly got up from the bed, taking Raptor with him, and left the room. Considering the incident with Qin Yu, bringing Raptor might yield unexpected gains. Even if not, it could be used to create a diversion.

The outer defense of the High Tower was tight, but there weren’t many guards inside. Dong Du smoothly passed through the guards on the floor and, when he reached Xi Yuan’s door, there was no one in sight.

Dong Du looked at Raptor, and its mechanical arm extended, pulling out a thin wire from its body. Opening the door with just the wire wouldn’t be enough, so Dong Du inserted the wire into the door seam, probing the position of the lock. Coordinating with Raptor’s electronic decryption, he quickly unlocked the door.

The password lock made two soft beeping sounds, and with a clatter, the door opened.

Lying on Xi Yuan’s bed was Xia En curled up in a small bundle. Hearing the door, he happily sat up, “You’re back—wait, why is it you!”

Seeing that Xia En was about to come to the door, perhaps even planning to call someone, Dong Du’s expression changed. He quickly moved forward and delivered a strong blow to the back of Xia En’s neck, rendering him unconscious.

Although Xi Yuan was absent, Dong Du was still a meticulous planner. The original plan wasn’t in vain!

He dragged Xia En onto the bed, covered his head with a burlap bag, and said to Raptor, “If he wakes up, let me know. Keep an eye on him. I’ll go look for things.”

An “OK” appeared on Raptor’s display screen, and its mechanical arm extended to stick on the door, monitoring the sounds in the corridor.

Xi Yuan had been staying at the Black Gold Fortress for quite some time, bringing a lot of items, even just a wardrobe, there were four of them.

Dong Du began searching from the drawers, places that seemed like Xia En had organized. He searched for hidden spots but found nothing. He searched through several drawers but found nothing.

At this moment, the mechanical arm of Raptor suddenly extended and retracted. Dong Du swiftly raised his palm, and Xia En, lying on the bed, didn’t even groan before passing out again.

Dong Du let out a long sigh, giving a thumbs-up to Raptor. The display screen on Raptor’s panel responded with a pink thumbs-up.

Master praised it, so it wanted to praise the master too.

Xia En woke up three times and was knocked unconscious three times. Finally, around noon, Dong Du found the activation device in Xi Yuan’s clothes pocket. The clothing was formal attire, worn only on significant formal occasions by Xi Yuan. Moreover, the activation device was tiny, making it difficult for Xi Yuan to notice even if he wore it.

Xia En was quite good at hiding things.

He neatly placed Xia En under the covers, and then, together with Raptor, returned to the 24th floor.

With the mission accomplished, he sent a message to Novisane, then happily went to the research institute to see Hanchester.

Dr. Xu Yiling had made significant progress recently and was preparing for the parasitic excision for Hanchester. These days, various instruments and tubes covered Hanchester’s body. When Dong Du came to see him, he couldn’t even see his face.

It was a fortunate coincidence that Dr. Xu Yiling had just finished examining Hanchester when Dong Du arrived. She nodded slightly and smiled, “Little Highness, are you here to see Chief Officer again today?”

“Yes.” Dong Du leaned against the glass. “Qikin and the others have fully recovered, lively and energetic every day. When will he wake up?”

“Soon. We have arranged for Chief Officer’s surgery the day after tomorrow. If all goes well, he will wake up soon.” Dr. Xu Yiling showed him the readings on her screen. “All indicators for Chief Officer are very optimistic.”

“What if something goes wrong?” Dong Du looked at the indicators; each one was in green. He knew green meant normal, but in reality, he had no idea what these indicators represented.

Dr. Xu Yiling didn’t answer. She smiled lightly, “By then, Little Highness can come and cheer Chief Officer up. Hearing your voice, he will surely strive to survive.”

After Dr. Xu Yiling left, Dong Du again leaned against the glass. He could only see some instruments blocking Hanchester tightly.

The reason he came here first was probably out of habit. He was used to telling Hanchester everything, like wanting to become the highest-ranking officer in Black Gold Fortress and wanting to join the military. Good or bad, Hanchester always listened and understood him.

So, now that he had caught Xia En’s handle, he also wanted to tell him as soon as possible.

In fact, there was not much rivalry between him and Xia En. If Xia En wanted to harm him, he would retaliate. If Xia En didn’t intend to do anything to him in Black Gold Fortress, he wouldn’t harm Xia En either.

Many thoughts flashed through his mind—about Xia En, about the original plot, about himself and his future.

Lost in his thoughts, a reminder came from the intelligent ring. It was a message from Novisane, asking him to go to his room.

Dong Du hurriedly went, and after entering the room, he instructed Raptor to stick to the ceiling. Next door, a heated argument was taking place. Xia En’s voice was sharp and piercing, “He must die!”

“What happened to him? Why must he die? If you want to support Jarvis, why not just kill Novisane directly?” Brovill sounded impatient. “I won’t help you. If you succeed, maybe I can help with Jarvis’s consecration.”

“You’re my cousin, why are you so heartless to me?” Xia En’s voice became hoarse. “Do you know how much I’ve sacrificed for success?”

“Don’t be disrespectful to the Lord Bishop!” It was Fina’s voice.

Dong Du listened attentively. He also wanted to know why he must die and why Xia En was staring at him intently even though he is not causing trouble.

“You don’t understand at all,” Xia En’s voice sounded somewhat dispirited, then turned sinister, “Without descendants, if Xi Yuan dies, Dong Du will be the first heir to the Clos Empire! He is a stumbling block on my path to success; he must die!”

“Why would Xi Yuan die?” Brovill asked in surprise. “You don’t intend to eliminate the Emperor of Clos as well, do you?”

“What’s wrong with that?” Xia En’s voice nervously chuckled. “Xi Yuan trusts and loves me. Even if I put poison at his lips, he would eat it without hesitation. If he doesn’t support me in supporting Jarvis, I will take action. He will marry me, and with Dong Du dead, no one in Clos will pose a threat to me.”

“You’re thinking too beautifully,” Brovill remarked. “But do you think Dong Du will be easily killed by you? Even Fina is not his match.”

“Impossible,” Xia En retorted. “He’s just a useless waste who only knows how to throw tantrums.”

“You can think that way. Anyway, I won’t interfere. Whatever you do is your own business. I can only help with Jarvis’s consecration after your success,” Brovill said impatiently. “Now, go.”

The sound of the door opening and closing came from outside, but Dong Du continued listening to the voices next door. Fina expressed some concern, “He wouldn’t really harm Clos’s little prince, would he?”

“Don’t worry, that little prince won’t die.” Brovill lowered his voice. “The gods say he comes from another world and they must send away what came with him for there to be an ending.”

Dong Du: !!!

Gods, are there really gods??

He withdrew, and Raptor followed suit, leaving the wall. A few small words appeared on the display screen: Recording completed, saved.

“What did you hear that scared you like this?” Novisane, wiping his wet hair, reached out to pull him up.

Taking advantage of the time Dong Du spent eavesdropping next door, this person unexpectedly took a bath, emitting a strange scent that made people dizzy.

Dong Du only felt that his mind was a bit unclear. He always wanted to smell and figure out what scent it was on him. However, he restrained himself and explained seriously, “I’m not scared; I’m shocked. Novisane, you people from Yars might actually have gods.”

Novisane raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Oh? Why do you think so?”

Dong Du covered his mouth, leaned in to say something, but suddenly pulled back. “I can’t tell you. It’s my secret.”

Novisane didn’t insist on knowing. He shrugged, “Fine, don’t say. Can I receive today’s salary?”

Dong Du, confused, asked, “Salary? What salary?”

“Don’t want to admit it?” Novisane pulled off the towel on his head, circled it around Dong Du’s neck, and pulled him closer. “I don’t need much; just let me smell you?”

Dong Du became even more confused. What kind of smelling was this? He had no perfume, no lotion, not even soap on him. What was there to smell?

Before he could figure it out, Novisane moved the towel away, gently brushing his nose against the back of his neck. Dong Du suddenly stepped back, putting some distance between them.

What’s going on! Why did he suddenly feel a bit hot on the back of his neck?

Blushing, Dong Du didn’t even have time to question Novisane. He rushed out of the room. Novisane lightly licked the corner of his mouth, smiling as he looked at Dong Du’s back.

Little Peach had been stimulated by his pheromones.

Dong Du ran all the way and rushed into the elevator. After a sudden brake, he managed to avoid bumping into Zhu Di’s arms, causing him to frown.

Zhu Di, like a statue, stood upright. His tone remained indifferent, “Your Highness, please control your emotions.”

“Emotions? What’s wrong with my emotions?” Dong Du gruffly said, “I’m controlling them very well.”

“Your pheromones leaked.” Zhu Di glanced at the back of his neck. “This may put an alpha into the susceptible period.”

“Susceptible period?” Dong Du was puzzled, softly repeating the term, then pondering in his mind—what susceptible period? Avian flu?

The back of his neck still felt slightly warm. It suddenly dawned on him. Gland! Both omega and alpha glands were on the back of the neck, emitting scents. So, this susceptible period meant alphas wanted to smell omega’s scent?

Novisane was in a susceptible period?

Then, shouldn’t he avoid smelling himself?

He admitted it; he was a dead straight guy and the kind that didn’t want others to smell him!

Dong Du, frustrated, with a vivid expression on his face, caught Zhu Di’s gaze seemingly without any particular reason. Then he heard Dong Du solemnly say, “Even if I’m an omega, I won’t let an alpha smell me. Got it?”

Not entirely understanding why I needed to know, but…

Zhu Di: “I got it.”
