After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Strongest Omega Chapter 42

Chapter 42: Good things, what good things?…

What else could it be if not an illness? He was already locked up!

Dong Du got up, his face against the small window. “Then what is it? Isn’t it contagious?”

“It does spread, but it’s not an illness.” Hanchester’s gaze softened as it fell on Dong Du’s face. “Little Highness, this means you’re ready for mating as an adult.”

Dong Du: “?”

What nonsense are you talking about?

Seeing his bewildered expression, Hanchester was somewhat surprised. Could the Little Highness not know these basic facts? He tentatively spoke, “Your Highness, don’t you know what a heat is?”

Dong Du shook his head and gestured with his eyes that he needed Hanchester to enlighten him. Hanchester sighed helplessly and explained, “Except for Betas, alphas and omegas have special periods—susceptible periods and heats. Alpha during the susceptible period is easily influenced by omega pheromones, while an omega in heat… seeks a partner.”

Hanchester explained it delicately, but Dong Du realized it himself. His face was full of incredulity and confusion. “Isn’t this just like animals!”

Hanchester was stunned, and had to admit, “Indeed, it’s quite similar.”

Dong Du’s worldview suffered a massive shock, so much so that when he was packaged and sent to the research institute upon returning to the Black Gold Fortress, he was still dazed.

Gneville took care of him. He stared at her and couldn’t help but ask, “Gneville, don’t you really want my glands? I can transplant them to you.”

Hanchester said that as long as the glands are healthy, omegas, regardless of gender, can become pregnant. He didn’t want that. He really didn’t want to. So he was willing to donate his glands to Gneville. As an indigenous person of this world, she must want to be a mother.

“Little Highness, don’t talk nonsense. I’ve already gotten used to the days without glands. You don’t have a partner now, so you think your heat is troublesome. Once you have a partner, you won’t think that way anymore.” Gneville took out a syringe from the drawer of the medical cart and briskly injected Dong Du with a suppressant.

“Your test results are out. You have pheromone disorder.” Gneville sighed while tidying up. “Your pheromones are out of control, occasionally leaking on their own. Also, you can’t feel alpha pheromones at all; you can only smell them.”

Dong Du nodded repeatedly, indicating that he understood. He didn’t think there was anything wrong with this pheromone disorder. Not being able to feel them was fine; it saved a lot of trouble.

Gneville finished packing up, and the table in Dong Du’s hospital room was filled with various foods and plenty of drinking water.

“Don’t inject too much suppressant.” Gneville walked out, saying, “Especially for someone like you with a pheromone disorder. So, this is your last suppressant. Little Highness, from now on, take care of yourself.”

“Since you’re here, you’ll have to endure it. I’ll come again tomorrow to supplement your food,” Gneville said.

“Huh?” Dong Du climbed out of bed. “Isn’t there any other means of suppression?” The feeling of enduring the heat is really unbearable. Even though I’ve endured all kinds of hardships, this is really… quite extraordinary. It feels like millions of ants crawling all over, hot, numb, and itchy everywhere. It’s like scratching an itch through boots, and you can’t reach the itch no matter what you do.”

Due to the pheromone disorder, Dong Du’s symptoms during the heat were considered mild.

Feeling somewhat helpless, he sat at the table and started eating. The heat phase would consume a lot of energy, so he had to eat more while he was awake.

After eating and drinking enough, Dong Du laid on the bed and gradually fell asleep.

The isolation room was completely sealed. Before going to sleep, he pulled the heavy curtains closed. The room was dimly lit, and the air inside seemed condensed, heated by the fever.

Dong Du woke up in a suffocating and stuffy feeling. Almost thoughtless, he felt light-headed and weak. When he thought of drinking water, he found himself falling off the bed.

He fell without feeling any pain, only dizzy. He unintentionally cursed, then remembered water and, as if the water cup understood him, it suddenly appeared at his mouth.

Without questioning it, Dong Du drank several sips before feeling a bit clearer.

A dark figure squatted beside him, holding the water cup for him.

Dong Du, like a slime, laid on the bed. Each breath he exhaled carried a scorching heat. Facing the figure, he said, “How did you get in?”

“I came in through the door. The little researchers here are easy to fool.” The voice of the figure was muffled, as if wrapped in a blanket.

This guy was wearing a gas mask again.

Dong Du couldn’t help but want to laugh. Clearly, he was a shameless lunatic, but he still paid attention to such details at this time.

“What time is it now?” Dong Du asked.

“Eleven thirty-four at night.” The person replied, then curiously asked, “How does it feel to experience your heat for the first time?”

“Like restructuring bones.” Dong Du curled his lips. “Novisane, why did you come wearing a mask? If you’re going to wear a mask, why did you come at all?”

“What? Want me to be more beastly?” Novisane asked humorously. He hadn’t eaten any candy and was almost unable to control his trembling hands.

“No need for that.” Dong Du crawled under the blanket, his whole body feverish, his face pink, his eyes misty, and his voice soft. “Thank you for coming to see me. It’s really boring alone.”

Novisane’s hands suddenly bulged with blue veins. He said nothing, standing like a statue beside the bed. He wanted to kiss Dong Du, really wanted to, but he didn’t dare to take off his gas mask. He didn’t even dare to move his fingers lightly; he was afraid that once he started, he wouldn’t be able to stop.

“What’s wrong with you?” Sensing something amiss, Dong Du wanted to get up and check on him.

“Don’t move.” Novisane said in a low voice. “Sleep, I’m leaving now. I’ll bring you some good things next time.”

“Next time?” Dong Du suddenly raised his voice, unbelieving. “Could it be that this heat will last a long time?”

“About a week.” Novisane answered, then gently locked the door.

Dong Du crawled back into bed, twisting like a caterpillar, feeling drowsy.

Novisane took off his mask. As soon as he stepped out of the research institute’s door, he saw Zhu Di standing under the tree at the entrance, staring at him with cold eyes.

He smirked, peeled off a candy and put it in his mouth before speaking, “Do you want me to lend you my mask?”

“No need.” Zhu Di said indifferently. “I never test myself, sir.”

“Why did you come here then?” Novisane tapped his mask lightly with his fingers, showing no signs of the gentle restraint he had just displayed, exuding a strong sense of aggression.

However, Zhu Di had no intention of confronting him head-on. Without a word, he turned around and left.

What use was restraint?

Novisane sighed in his heart, in a good mood, and went back to his own room.

Gneville once again brought some food, then she replaced the drinking water in the room. Dong Du sat on the bed like a puppet, watching her tidy up with a vacant gaze.

“How many days?” he asked, devoid of interest.

“Two more days, Your Highness. When you wake up on the third day, you will feel like the whole world has become clear, just like after being washed with water,” Gneville reassured him. “Endure a bit longer.”

Dong Du felt like he was getting sour. No matter how many times he showered each day, he still felt sweaty. He weakly nodded and tucked himself under the blanket.

Outside, it gradually darkened, and the person wearing the gas mask finally came again. Dong Du had to admit that he was looking forward to Novisane’s arrival a bit. As soon as he entered the room, Dong Du opened his eyes, even looking at him with bright eyes.

At this critical moment, Dong Du’s periods of sobriety were getting longer. He reached out to Novisane, “What good things did you bring me?”

Novisane took out a rose from behind, pinched disdainfully between his fingers. “What kind of good thing is this? There’s no vase here. The petals will fall off by tomorrow.”

Novisane’s face was covered by the mask, and Dong Du couldn’t see his expression at all. He didn’t say anything, just placed what he had behind him in front of Dong Du. Dong Du opened it and found a complete set of darts.

“This is more like it.” Dong Du played with it for a while, signaling Novisane to hang up the target for him.

Novisane obediently hung it on the opposite wall. “The heat phase will cause a decline in an omega’s physical fitness and coordination. If you can hit, I’ll take you to play on Mercury in Yars.”

It’s a special time now. Where can one go to play on Mercury? Dong Du thought to himself. But he didn’t say it out loud. He flicked the dart between his fingers, not even aiming, and threw it, hitting the bullseye.

Novisane was surprised for a moment, then applauded. “It seems you’re not affected. We can go play on Mercury together.”

“Who wants to play with you?” Dong Du was smug, his little pink face slightly raised. “You just want to trick me into playing with you, and you make up so many excuses.”

Novisane didn’t explain. He sat on the edge of the bed and asked him, “Are you going?”

“Wait until we finish off the insect clan,” Dong Du calculated. “After defeating the insect clan, I won’t be the unknown little prince anymore. I’ll be the little prince with merit. Xi Yuan won’t dislike me anymore. I’m sure to have a lot of money. I may not become the general of Black Gold Fortress, but I’ll have money. I can go around the world.”

“Can I sign up to accompany you on a world tour now?” Novisane asked. His fingers rolled up Dong Du’s sleepwear sleeve. “I want to go on a world tour with you.”

“You still have Yars to manage. We’ll talk about it later.” Dong Du wanted to raise his hand, but he found that he couldn’t. When he looked down, he realized he was being held.

“Let go, please,” Dong Du whispered. “I want to drink water.”

Novisane loosened his fingers, but before Dong Du could get up, he suddenly took off his mask. Dong Du was shocked for a moment, wanting to tell him to put it back on quickly, but Novisane lowered his head and kissed Dong Du’s forehead.

He quickly put on the mask again. “Goodnight, little peach.”

Dong Du’s face instantly turned from pink to red. His complexion was so hot that his hands and feet became weak. But Novisane, the culprit, actually walked away swaggeringly!

Dong Du took a muffled breath, thinking that this guy was no good!
