Aristocrat Boys School Chapter 165

165 Extra 2: “Solo”

<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>

Boros University was about to hold its annual welcome party, and Jian Chi, as a freshman who was once welcomed and now a senior to the freshmen, naturally participated in this event.

Before the arrival of the new students, the school had made full preparations, including conspicuous signs at the entrance, and free sweaters and cloth bags with the university logo printed at the booths. Jian Chi remembered that every year there were endless freshmen queuing up in front of this booth. There were also community promotions that have been carefully arranged on both sides of the street.

Most of the club presidents were very concerned about recruiting activities, changing into eye-catching costumes or chatting up freshmen passing by the booth with their members. Jian Chi was drawn into the club by the president of the literary club in a passionate way. It may be that the less good a person is at something, the more he wants to challenge something. No matter in high school or university, Jian Chi had an indissoluble bond with the literary club.

This year, it was Jian Chi’s turn to be the one standing in front of the booth to promote.

As entrusted by the president, Jian Chi half-heartedly accepted the task. He was really not good at publicizing loudly in crowded places. He sat on a chair and implemented the policy of recruiting new people according to the situation. When someone came, he would pass a leaflet. After half a morning, no one stopped in front of the booth for more than five minutes.

Jian Chi and the president were sending messages to report the situation. The president and another member were supposed to come, but they happened to have no time this morning, so they asked Jian Chi to cover. Seeing the president’s reply of ‘I’ll be there soon’, Jian Chi heaved a sigh of relief.

“Hello, is this the Literature Club?”

A slightly lower voice sounded from the top of the head, even if it was suppressed, it couldn’t cover up the warmth. Jian Chi’s gaze shifted from the phone screen to the face of the man in front of him, slightly startled.

“Yes.”

The man asked: “Does the club usually have any activities? I want to know.”

“Yes, you can take a look at the leaflet.” Jian Chi came to this job suddenly, and could only use the leaflet to fool him when he encountered this kind of inquiry. When he handed it over, the man said, “I want to hear from you.”

Jian Chi looked at the man’s face seriously again, but couldn’t see anything. He was wearing a black peaked cap with the brim pressing over the black frame on the bridge of his nose, and the lower half of his face was tightly covered by a mask. He was dressed in an ordinary white shirt and jeans, and the backpack on his shoulders was bulging, as if it contained a lot of things.

It looked like a freshman’s usual attire, the only weird thing was that the face was covered too much.

Just as Jian Chi explored the strangeness and familiarity in his heart, the man pinched the leaflet he handed over, and ran his fingers along the paper to the back of Jian Chi’s hand, brushed past it vaguely, and held his hand before Jian Chi could pull it out. The voice approached: “Actually, I wanted to know you the first time I saw you just now, can you tell me your name?”

Jian Chi’s brain was short-circuited for a few seconds by his sudden approach and touch. Strangely, the other’s frivolous actions did not arouse the disgust he should have felt.

The peaked cap lifted up a little with the man’s movements, revealing the smiling eyes behind the flat lenses to meet Jian Chi’s gaze. Under the sun, it was shining a bright and gentle light.

“Can you?” he repeated in a low voice.

Jian Chi couldn’t help laughing, “Of course, I can also give you a contact information, but if this is the case, won’t you be angry?”

He didn’t seem to understand, “Why would I be angry?”

“Ji Huaisi, stop playing, you are blocking the promotional pictures of our club.”

“Who is Ji Huaisi, your boyfriend?”

Ji Huaisi pinched Jian Chi’s palm, and his voice was deliberately lowered with a slight smile, “If you don’t say anything, then you’re admitting it.”

Jian Chi didn’t refute or admit it, and sat back on the chair. Ji Huaisi also knew when to stop, and pulled off the mask on his face with one hand, revealing a familiar and handsome face, with a lingering smile on his lips. Laughing, he pulled away the chair beside Jian Chi.

“Is it because the eyes were exposed?”

“I felt it a little familiar when you came. Who would dress so strangely at the orientation meeting?” Jian Chi said, without concealing a trace of joy that inadvertently leaked out, “Why did you come here? Be careful if someone finds out that you are not a freshman and kicks you out.”

Ji Huaisi said: “In this case, would you help me?”

Jian Chi wanted to say ‘yes’, but shook the flyer in his hand, “I still have work to do.”

“Then it’s a coincidence that I came here. Do you want to hand all these out?”

“Distributing leaflets is secondary. The president asked me to recruit new recruits. I haven’t retained a single freshman in the 20 minutes I’ve been here.” Jian Chi was a little frustrated, and his personality determined that he wasn’t suitable for such an ostentatious job. Speaking of which, if the real Zhang Yang was here, he would definitely complete the task in minutes.

Ji Huaisi left his backpack on the chair, took off his glasses and peaked cap that covered his facial features, and caught a few gazes almost at the same time as he made these actions.

Before Jian Chi could fully react, Ji Huaisi had already picked up a stack of leaflets, smiled and walked towards a girl who had been peeking here just now, “Hello, are you interested in learning about the Literature Club?”

The two girls who were suddenly stopped seemed a little surprised and embarrassed. They glanced at each other, and one of them blushed and nodded, “Can we have a look at the leaflet?”

“Of course,” Ji Huaisi said, “the daily activities of the club are very rich, they don’t take up too much time, and you can meet many new friends in it. If you are interested, you can leave your name and contact information, and we will contact you later. It is up to you to decide whether to join or not.”

In just five minutes, two people had already left their names and intentions to join the literature club.

Seeing Ji Huaisi handing out most of the leaflets in his hand, Jian Chi felt his frustrated heart inspired, picked up a few leaflets and actively joined him. The booth gradually became lively. Jian Chi’s mouth was dry. He returned to his seat and unscrewed the mineral water. Just after taking a sip, his back was suddenly heavy, and when he turned around, he was kissed on the cheek.

“Shao Hang?”

Shao Hang clicked his tongue: “How did you know it was me?” It was unclear whether he was more proud or more annoyed.

In fact, except for Shao Hang, no one would greet him in such a ‘special’ way. Jian Chi didn’t say what was in his heart. The weight on his back suddenly disappeared, Ji Huaisi pulled Shao Hang down by his collar, his smile remained unchanged, “Speak properly, don’t wave your hands and feet.”

The tone of integrity was as if he was not the one who first pretended to be a stranger to strike up a conversation with Jian Chi.

Shao Hang shook off Ji Huaisi’s arm, and looked at him uncomfortably, “What are you doing here?”

Jian Chi was also very curious about this question, but it was bypassed by other things when he wanted to ask it just now. Ji Huaisi didn’t answer directly, “I have a mission, I have to keep it a secret for now, and you will know it soon.”

“Unnecessary complication.” Shao Hang commented bluntly.

Hearing what Ji Huaisi said, Jian Chi was even more curious. No matter how he asked Ji Huaisi, he would only answer with a smile. After taking a break then continuing the club promotion, Shao Hang didn’t know what they were doing just now, so he picked up the leaflet on the table and flipped through two pages, “Where’s your president? Why do you have to recruit new people alone.”

Jian Chi explained the reason why the president was late, and Shao Hang took the two stacks of leaflets in his hand and shook them lightly, “There are quite a few.”

“That’s right.” Jian Chi thought he wanted to take it over to have a look, and responded casually. Who knew that Shao Hang had no intention of returning it at all after he finished speaking. He walked to the other side of Ji Huaisi and started to stop the passing people.

It was a strong contrast. Ji Huaisi was gentle and polite, Shao Hang had a stinky face of “do you want to look or not”, but there were really many people who liked him, and the forms to be used for recording were all completed, two full pages. Jian Chi felt that if it wasn’t for this tough face, Shao Hang’s attitude would definitely have received a lot of complaints.

The effect of the two of them standing together made the literature club’s booth without an empty space. Needless to say, Ji Huaisi’s contribution does not need to be spoken of. Shao Hang dyed his hair a few days ago, and the color was soft and hard, the silver Jian Chi chose. Perfectly adapted to his uninhibited facial features, standing in the crowd, he has become the most conspicuous focus. When the president came late, he almost didn’t find a spot, and kept praising Jian Chi for a good job, but in fact, Jian Chi had no choice but to accept the praise against his will.

Lunch was settled on campus, and Ji Huaisi picked up his bag and disappeared into the crowd after saying that he was going to leave for a while. Jian Chi knew that he was supposed to do that secret ‘task’, and was still guessing what it would be, so Shao Hang took the opportunity to come over and slander: “He must have been unable to figure out how to do it, and sneaked away.”

Jian Chi wanted to laugh, “No matter how bad you talk about Ji Huaisi, he won’t hear you.”

“I didn’t say it for him to hear,” Shao Hang snorted. “It just so happened that he left, and a light bulb* is now gone. Let’s go to another place and leave him alone.”

The activities in the afternoon were nothing more than sitting in the auditorium and listening to the principal’s speech, which was an indispensable part of the orientation. The long and boring part passed, the performance began, and the atmosphere in the auditorium officially became active.

Some seniors also came to the auditorium, and the school invited famous singers or orchestras to perform every year. When Jian Chi heard the movement, the singer had just finished the last song and bowed to leave the stage. The warm applause gradually diluted, but Jian Chi did not leave. He had just received a text message from Ji Huaisi.

There were only four short words: come to the auditorium.

The curtain on the stage was opened towards both ends, the lights were turned on again, and the musical instruments and performers had been neatly fanned out around the conductor, with violins and cellos in order from left to right. Apparently, a concert was about to be played here.

All the players were sitting in chairs waiting to start, only one person stood next to the conductor. A black tuxedo wrapped his slender figure, his forearm was slightly raised, and the textured violin rested on an angle between his shoulder and mandible. Ji Huaisi left the audience, a clean and gentle profile. The moment the music sounded, he and all the players played the majestic notes.

Jian Chi’s gaze was fixed on the stage, the faces of the people around were blurred in his vision, only Ji Huaisi’s figure was always clear. When the solo came, the lights of the entire auditorium focused on Ji Huaisi, and every swing of his right arm was powerful, elegant and deep. His whole body seemed to be glowing, shining into Jian Chi’s eyes.

At the end of the performance, the applause almost knocked the roof down, and Jian Chi also applauded, following the pace of Ji Huaisi’s departure.

One second before stepping down, Ji Huaisi raised his head without warning, as if he could clearly find Jian Chi’s position in the huge auditorium, and smiled at him.

Jian Chi heard people around whispering praises to Ji Huaisi’s violin skills, and some were simply amazed by his demeanor, and tried to guess which new young performer he was. Jian Chi didn’t participate in the discussion, but he felt a sense of pride.

The backstage was full of performers who had just stepped off the stage and some people who were about to perform. Even wearing the same costumes, Ji Huaisi still stood out from the crowd. Jian Chi quietly walked over to give Ji Huaisi a surprise, but when he got closer, he found that the mirror in front of him had already exposed his whereabouts.

Ji Huaisi was looking at him with a smile through the mirror, Jian Chi could only pretend that nothing happened to cover up the embarrassment of not succeeding.

“So this is the secret mission you mentioned.”

Ji Huaisi said: “I originally wanted to give you a surprise, so I refrained from saying it. Before the performance started, I suddenly thought of what I should do if you didn’t come to the auditorium, so I had to send you a message to spoil the surprise in advance.”

Jian Chi sat down, “You only spoiled half of the story, the other half was still a surprise.”

Ji Huaisi held his hand under the table, and Jian Chi looked aside nervously, but no one paid attention to this side. Ji Huaisi’s approaching chuckle came into his ears: “Your work is over and my task is also completed, can we continue our date later?”

“Date?”

“After I left, Shao Hang must have taken you around,” Ji Huaisi said, “Now it’s my turn.”

Jian Chi looked into his eyes, sensing a strange feeling in his heart. In front of people, Ji Huaisi was always modest and polite, taking care of everyone’s emotions; on stage, he was an eye-catching violin player, young and promising.

In front of him, Ji Huaisi did not belong to any of the above-mentioned sides. There would be bad ideas that do not conform to ‘humility’, such as pretending to be a stranger to attack him, and there would also be quiet moments where he recorded his intimacy with others, and then asked for ‘fair’ compensation; this kind of Ji Huaisi was more vivid and dazzling than the person on the front stage. Jian Chi couldn’t help laughing, leaned into Ji Huaisi’s ear, and imitated his whispered in the morning:

“Then what are you waiting for? Let’s go.”

At first, it was a dream without any omens. The scenes in the dream corresponded one by one with reality, and it was then that Jian Chi realized that he was living in a danmei novel. The protagonist in the book was naive and weak, surrounded by wolves in the noble boys’ school, and finally ended with a 1vN forced love ending. And he was the vicious male supporting character in the story, who framed the protagonist everywhere and ended up miserably. Jian Chi, who became self-aware in advance, decided not to mix with the protagonist’s feelings, and strived to be a transparent person who had no sense of existence in the aristocratic boys’ school. But who knew that he didn’t have to take the initiative to provoke others, but troubles would come to him one by one. When the plot continued to develop in the direction of collapse, Jian Chi finally found that the Lead Gongs’ eyes were a little different when they looked at him.

And that’s the end~ What can I say? Hmm… I have to admit that I’m a little bit disappointed, because the author was inconsistent in her actions and descriptions, like our bubu should be intelligent and wanted to avoid other characters, but in the same time he was getting into trouble at full speed :/ The beginning was really promising, unfortunately, the author got a little lost and chaos crept in >< But that doesn't change the fact that I had fun reading it, especially the first half of the novel will be fondly remembered! o(^◇^)o I'm also pleased with how most of the characters transform and develop with each chapter~ (*´꒳`*) It was good time ^^ So thank You sososo much for Your wonderful work at translating this novel!
