“Anomaly…”
Li Sanxin pounded the ground with his fists, bloodshot eyes. He stood up abruptly, his face gloomy as he charged towards the anomalies.
As if unable to bear witnessing this scene any longer, Duan Zege also hoarsely said, “I’ll go check on him.”
He turned around hurriedly and followed Li Sanxin.
Farewells were so hasty, there was almost no time for sorrow on the battlefield. They could only turn their grief into anger, and then double it onto the anomalies.
If it weren’t for these anomalies… If it weren’t for these anomalies, so many people wouldn’t have died in the first place, and a child wouldn’t have to sacrifice herself to keep them fighting!
Zhou Wuxin mechanically removed his glasses, wiping away the flesh and blood on them. The anomaly power within his body was very calm; all of this was thanks to this little girl. Zhou Wuxin’s eyes lost focus for a moment, then he put the cleaned glasses back on his face.
Lu Haoxiu tremblingly dug a hole in the ground to bury Little Yu’s “body,” and Zhou Wuxin went over to help. Their hands, both covered in blood, moved through the black soil. Tears streamed down Lu Haoxiu’s face, and he choked out, “Was Little Yu’s death.. meaningful?”
“Very meaningful,” Zhou Wuxin affirmed in a declarative tone, “She allowed many half-anomalies to continue fighting, indirectly slowing down the speed of anomalies invading us. Perhaps her death can directly change the outcome of this war.”
Zhou Wuxin didn’t know what Lin You’s next plan was, but he could tell that Lin You wanted to buy time; he seemed to be waiting for some support to arrive.
And the contribution Little Yu made might be the crucial part of the support they were waiting for.
Upon hearing this, Lu Haoxiu’s sobbing became even heavier. He clenched his fists tightly around the soil. “That’s good, that’s good…”
He lifted his head to look at the anomalies. At this moment, Lu Haoxiu felt that everything he had been confused about and avoiding before had become firm.
He wanted revenge! He wanted to kill all the anomalies!
Little Yu sacrificed herself for them, everyone was giving their all, how could he still act like a helpless child?
Lu Haoxiu suddenly raised his hand to wipe his face, smearing it with mud and blood. But he didn’t care at all. With a determined expression, he raised his hand towards the largest and most terrifying spider-like anomaly in the group.
Nothing is impossible! He wanted to dare to try, he wanted to believe in himself! Little Yu’s death had meaning, and he wanted to make that meaning even greater!
As long as this largest anomaly died, they could better slow down the speed of the anomaly’s attack!
Lu Haoxiu’s mental strength was extremely focused. His pupils slowly dilated, and at this moment, everything around him moved away from him. All sounds became increasingly distant, and Lu Haoxiu could only hear the sound of his own heartbeat, only able to see the anomaly carrying Wen Jiu reflected in his pupils.
“I want your heart… I want the heart of the largest and most terrifying spider-like anomaly on this battlefield, with tentacles similar to a spider’s abdomen… I want to dig out this anomaly’s heart…”
Lu Haoxiu kept muttering the shape of the target. As he muttered to himself, a black hole appeared in his palm. The black hole twisted slowly, becoming larger and larger, until eventually, it was even the size of an adult.
Zhou Wuxin stared closely at the black hole, his brows furrowing deeply in vigilance. “What is this…?”
Lu Haoxiu calmly reached into the black hole. What he grabbed was thick and elastic. He took a deep breath and fiercely pulled out what was inside the black hole.
A red heart over a meter tall was forcefully pulled out by him!
Lu Haoxiu’s eyes lit up. He quickly and accurately inserted a weapon into the heart, and a few seconds later, the heart exploded into pieces!
“Yi— ugh!”
The giant anomaly in the distance let out a painful and miserable scream, and the whole anomaly suddenly fell to the ground.
Wen Jiu, on top of the anomaly’s head, fell from the sky. His golden short hair fluttered in the wind, brushing past his deep and handsome brows. Wen Jiu landed gracefully on the ground, his white silk shirt revealing a missing button at the collar, exposing a large patterned tattoo on his neck.
Wen Jiu looked into the distance, his golden eyes slightly narrowed. With an abnormal tone, he leisurely said, “Interesting talent.”
Behind him came a humanoid anomaly whose entire body had melted into butter-like consistency. This anomaly had no facial features and was not wearing clothes, only retaining human limbs. The humanoid anomaly said in a low voice, “Master, shall I go kill this human?”
“Let others go. No-Face, you stay by my side to protect me.”
The Anomaly Lord showed a stiff, subtle smile. He extended his hands in front of himself, observing the beautiful, sculpture-like hands for humans, “My current body is too weak, it needs careful maintenance.”
No-Face said, “It will be better when you obtain your previous body.”
“I’ve said it many times, No-Face,” the Anomaly Lord showed a helpless expression similar to a human’s, “although my consciousness also contains the consciousness of that old body, I am already a new me. Don’t confuse me now with the old me, understand?”
No-Face nodded slowly and said again, “It will be even more powerful when you get a new body.”
“Although that body is powerful, it doesn’t fit human aesthetics like my current body,” the Anomaly Lord smiled with interest, “Have you heard what those humans say about ‘me’? They say ‘I’ am actually a star. A star… what an interesting profession.”
No-Face didn’t understand what the Anomaly Lord meant, and it stuttered to respond.
The Anomaly Lord wasn’t angry but very leisurely walked forward, casually looking at the surroundings amidst the sea of corpses. His presence was incompatible with the bloody battlefield, resembling a noble young master attending some kind of banquet.
However, upon closer inspection, it could be seen that the steps of the Anomaly Lord were somewhat stiff, and the steps were as unnatural as a robot’s. Under the possession of Wen Jiu, the face that was once adored by men and women suddenly became eerie and bizarre, and the smile that seemed to be welded on his face added a few more terrifying chills.
As the Anomaly Lord passed by a pile of corpses, a hand suddenly reached out from the corpses and firmly grasped the Anomaly Lord’s ankle, staining the pure white trouser legs of the Anomaly Lord with a circle of black-red bloodstains.
The Anomaly Lord stopped, lowered his head to look down.
“Wen Jiu…” the warrior weakly gasped for breath, holding a dagger in his hand and stabbing towards the Anomaly Lord’s calf, “You… actually… betrayed… humanity…”
The dagger cut through the trousers, successfully scratching the skin of the calf. Thick, viscous black blood slowly flowed out of the wound, much less than a normal person’s bleeding amount.
With such color, such bleeding volume, it looked more like blood flowing from a corpse that had long been dead.
After swinging this knife, the warrior lost his last breath, and No-Face stared blankly at the wound on the Anomaly Lord’s calf, not reacting yet: “Master, you are injured.”
“I’ve said it before, No-Face, my current body is a human body, it’s too weak,” the Anomaly Lord sighed again, suddenly turned around and inserted his hand into No-Face’s chest, grasping No-Face’s beating heart. The golden pupils turned into a red color filled with ferocity and cruelty, “Let me say it again, you must protect me well. If something like this happens again, this heart doesn’t need to stay in your body, I will eat it.”
No-Face was somewhat afraid and muttered, “I remember, Master.”
The Anomaly Lord then smiled and slowly withdrew his hand. He looked at the wound on his calf, and the scar had already healed.
“The taste of pain…” the Anomaly Lord said thoughtfully, “The pain perceived by human bodies is more sensitive than that of anomalies.”
He continued to step forward, with No-Face closely following behind him. No-Face nervously glanced left and right, fearing that humans might suddenly appear to harm Wen Jiu. “Master, it’s dangerous ahead. You’re about to enter human territory.”
The Anomaly Lord replied, “I’m going to human territory. Your actions are too slow.”
No-Face explained, “As you know, compared to wholesale slaughter, we prefer torturing humans like cats playing with mice. Besides, we get hungry. It’s normal to stop killing suddenly and have a meal.”
“So, I’m not urging you,” the Anomaly Lord said lightly, “because I also enjoy this kind of torture. But now, I’m getting impatient.”
The Anomaly Lord suddenly snapped his fingers, and the sky was immediately covered by dark clouds. The humans on the ground looked up hastily, only to find that the dark clouds were getting closer, accompanied by a strange buzzing sound.
When the dark clouds approached a certain distance, humans realized that they were not clouds at all but densely packed blood-red flies.
“It’s blood flies! Anomalies’ blood flies!!!”
“Run! This thing will suck people dry!”
“Use chemical weapons, hurry!!!”
A large group of blood flies flew in front of the Anomaly Lord. The Anomaly Lord smiled at these cute little creatures and whispered, “The previously bred rotting ghost birds were a failure. I hope you won’t fail again. Go tell those anomalies who have forgotten their goals. If they don’t arrive at the Anomaly Control Bureau by the time I get there, then they have no reason to exist.”
As if understanding, the swarm of blood flies immediately flew towards other anomalies.
“Ahhhhh!!!”
“Help—”
“Get down! Get down! Put on gas masks, quick—”
The screams and cries of humans became the most wonderful background music. The Anomaly Lord stepped on the corpses of humans, walking towards the Anomaly Control Bureau at a leisurely pace.
The anomalies he warned no longer wasted time and rushed towards the Anomaly Control Bureau in groups.
The scene was reminiscent of the grandest animal migration scene in nature, and humans had almost no room for resistance, being trampled into pulp by the anomalies.
The remaining humans retreated while fighting, and soon, they were forced to the front of the Anomaly Control Bureau.
Behind them was the interior of the Anomaly Control Bureau.
Li Sanxin’s eyes turned red from killing, and his abdomen swelled high again. The cries of the ghost baby mixed with excitement, and the palms of the two babies supported his belly to a terrifying height.
He was the last one to retreat and currently the closest human to the anomalies. Li Sanxin knew that the ghost baby in his body was about to revive, but before he was killed by the ghost baby, Li Sanxin wanted to accomplish one big thing.
His gaze swiftly traversed the group of anomalies and quickly found Wen Jiu’s position. Wen Jiu stood in the middle of the anomalies, surrounded tightly by them.
It’s you!
Li Sanxin gritted his teeth and suddenly accelerated forward, using all his strength to unleash his fastest speed. In the blink of an eye, he rushed to the front of the anomaly group. When the anomalies reached out to grab him, Li Sanxin swung out a surgical thread, wrapping around a tall anomaly. He then suddenly lifted himself up using the force of the surgical thread, and as he was about to fall, he used another surgical thread to wrap around another tall anomaly and propelled himself forward.
In an instant, he “flew” to Wen Jiu’s side. Without hesitation, Li Sanxin didn’t dare to hesitate, afraid of wasting this precious opportunity. At this moment, he didn’t think about anything else and went straight towards the Anomaly Lord. His surgical thread aimed at Wen Jiu’s chest, while the dagger in his other hand adjusted to an angle that could penetrate Wen Jiu’s heart!
3, 2, 1 — it’s now!
The surgical thread was blocked by the anomalies around Wen Jiu, but the dagger touched Wen Jiu’s clothes. Li Sanxin’s eyes lit up, thinking that he could kill Wen Jiu, but another anomaly raised its hand and grabbed his neck, lifting him into the air.
“Master, you’re not hurt this time,” this anomaly bragged, shaking Li Sanxin’s body.
Wen Jiu enthusiastically waved his hand, letting the anomaly bring Li Sanxin in front of him, then took the dagger from Li Sanxin’s hand.
“You look familiar. Oh, you seem to be a friend of Lou Yan,” Wen Jiu tilted his head and smiled, “If he knew you were dead, he would be very heartbroken.”
And human suffering is precisely what anomalies enjoy the most.
Wen Jiu held the dagger and stabbed forward. Li Sanxin instinctively struggled but found that he didn’t feel any pain.
What’s going on?
Li Sanxin raised his eyes incredulously, never expecting to see the face of Duan Zege. Duan Zege smiled helplessly, his messy hair covering most of his face, but not his pale, cracked lips.
Duan Zege moved his mouth silently, “Run!”
Li Sanxin’s legs stiffened, and he looked down blankly.
A sharp dagger was being thrust into Duan Zege’s chest from behind.
…How could Duan Zege appear here?
How could he appear here…!
What to do, what to do! Why did he come over! D*mn it, what should he do!
Li Sanxin’s mind went blank, but he would never leave Duan Zege alone and run away. Just when he felt desperate, a familiar voice full of anger sounded from above.
“Anomaly Lord! You deserve to die!!!”
