Chapter 33

Lou Yan was plunged into darkness.

He thought he would crash onto Fu Xuezhou, but there was nothing beneath him. Lou Yan felt a moment of confusion, and the next moment, the river water suddenly choked his mouth and nose, his chest heavy, unable to breathe. Lou Yan was caught off guard and swallowed a mouthful of river water, opening his eyes abruptly and swimming out of the water with force!

The rushing water cascaded down his body as moonlight spilled onto the calm river surface. Lou Yan’s expression shifted continuously as he coughed forcefully, choking on the water, and wiped the water from his face, scanning his surroundings.

“….Where is this?”

He found himself floating in a wide river, flanked by dense forests. Tall, straight trees stood erect, one after another, casting a chilling shadow in the dark night.

Lou Yan distinctly remembered being pulled into the red coffin by Fu Xuezhou’s hair. How did he end up in another place when he opened his eyes?

Was this the ability of the red coffin?

Lou Yan subconsciously felt his waist but didn’t touch Fu Xuezhou’s hair. He looked around, but there was no sign of that despicable person, Fu Xuezhou.

The water in the river was cold, causing Lou Yan to shiver. He decided to swim to the shore first before figuring out what to do next.

After a while, Lou Yan felt his feet touch the ground. He walked step by step to the shore, and the sound of splashing water echoed as ripples spread outwards.

Lou Yan’s clothes were completely soaked, sticking uncomfortably to his body. His pants clung to his thigh muscles, and although his appearance was disheveled, his demeanor remained strong and unwavering.

“Fu Xuezhou, you d*mn b*stard, why don’t you just go die!” Lou Yan took off his coat, cursing angrily while wringing out the water from his clothes. “D*mn it, pulling me along even when he’s about to die. I really wish I could strangle you to death.”

The coat was waterproof, and after wringing it out, it was almost half dry. But his clothes were still dripping wet, and the cold wind made Lou Yan shiver, causing him to sneeze twice, trembling from the cold.

Lou Yan’s face grew uglier, like ink spilled on paper, lowly muttering with clenched fists, “Fu Xuezhou—”

If it wasn’t for Fu Xuezhou, he wouldn’t have to suffer like this.

After wringing out his coat, Lou Yan took off his shirt to wring out the water, his slender and muscular upper body exposed. As he twisted his shirt, the shoulder blades on his back moved like fluttering butterflies, graceful and poised. Only a bright red mark remained around his waist, the imprint left by Fu Xuezhou’s hair.

Lou Yan frowned, averting his gaze. As the river water flowed through his fingers back into the river, Lou Yan looked at the calm river surface, feeling annoyed.

He had swallowed a mouthful of river water when he first opened his eyes, and it made him nauseous. Fortunately, he had been too busy saving himself to spit it out immediately.

The river water had a strong, foul smell, with a hint of rot, extremely stimulating to the taste buds. Even now, Lou Yan felt a bit nauseous recalling it. But it was strange that standing on the bank, Lou Yan didn’t smell the heavy stench from the river, and even though he had just rolled out of the river, his body didn’t have the strong fishy smell one would expect. There was only a slight fishy odor, typical of river water.

Lou Yan sniffed his coat, then sniffed the clothes inside, and finally sniffed himself. If he didn’t trust himself so much, he would almost think that the mouthful of river water he swallowed just now was a hallucination.

This river was definitely closely related to the Red Coffin. Lou Yan could guess just by moving his little finger – this was also why he wanted to get ashore quickly, fearing that there might be something extremely terrifying in this river.

Another cold wind blew, and Lou Yan sneezed again. He quickly found a sheltered place, then gathered dry grass and branches from the ground and felt his pocket for the lighter.

“Click,” the lighter sparked, illuminating Lou Yan’s slightly pale face, casting a warm golden light on his black hair. Lou Yan smiled and used his hand to ignite the firewood around the flame, “Thanks for being of good quality.”

Smoke rose, and the fire gradually ignited, bringing warmth. This finally made Lou Yan’s chill recede slightly. He warmed his hands and feet, feeling his brain able to think again.

Using the firelight, Lou Yan looked into the forest, but couldn’t see the end. The area around him could still be illuminated by the firelight, but the farther away it was, the thicker the darkness became, engulfing the forest’s edge like a tide.

This was the case in all directions, except for one river that seemed particularly different in the forest. Lou Yan speculated that this might be an illusion created by the Red Coffin, similar to the eerie method of ghost hitting walls. But he hadn’t found a way to break free from this illusion yet.

After the fire burned for a while, there was still no movement around. Lou Yan furrowed his brow, his senses heightened to the extreme, but he didn’t detect anyone else approaching.

In theory, if he came here, Fu Xuezhou should also come here. He came out of the river, and Fu Xuezhou should also come out of the river…

Why were his tracks so obvious, yet there was no movement around?

Lou Yan wasn’t afraid of Fu Xuezhou appearing directly, but he was afraid of Fu Xuezhou hiding and playing tricks. Once his clothes stopped dripping water, he glanced in the direction of the opposite bank of the river.

He couldn’t see anything.

Lou Yan could only dry his clothes first and then make plans. As he turned his head, he met the face of a pale man with rouge on his cheeks.

This man had blood-red lips, wearing strange and colorful clothes like a paper figure. He smiled, the smile stretching to his ears, revealing yellow teeth tinged with blood, extremely sinister and malicious. “Please, bride, get into the sedan.”

This man was not alone, there were three others exactly like him. Four of them carried a blood-red coffin, referring to it as a sedan, and stared straight at Lou Yan. Lou Yan didn’t even know when they appeared!

Lou Yan’s expression was stunned for a moment, and he quickly took two steps back, focusing his gaze on the blood-red coffin.

But with just one glance, he recognized that this coffin was not the same as the previous red coffin.

Although this coffin was all red, it was much thinner and smaller than the previous red coffin, and there were no evil ghost patterns carved on it, only a more red “double happiness” character carved on all four sides.

However, similarly, this coffin still exuded an uncomfortable cold aura.

Danger!

Lou Yan felt something was wrong and took two more steps back. These four eerie beings wore sinister smiles and said again, “Please, bride, get into the sedan.”

Lou Yan had just calmed down, but almost burst out laughing again. He smiled sarcastically, “Bride, me? Look carefully, I’m a man.”

The eerie eyes of these four beings followed Lou Yan’s movements, this scene was extremely eerie, and Lou Yan felt tense all over, constantly looking around for an escape route.

These eerie beings called him “bride,” and his intuition told him that it was related to the “double happiness” character on the previous red coffin. The appearance of this coffin with the “double happiness” character also confirmed his guess.

This was a wedding coffin.

Lou Yan remained expressionless, feeling extremely bad. Because he thought of himself lying in the red coffin with Fu Xuezhou. If he was the “bride,” then Fu Xuezhou was the “groom”?

Disgusting.

In addition to disgust, Lou Yan also felt anger burning. He almost wanted to smash the wedding coffin in front of him: why was he the bride and Fu Xuezhou the groom???

Whether in business or in dealing with pursuers, Lou Yan, who had always been dominant and used to taking control, couldn’t understand why he was seen as a “bride.” Even if he was handsome to the point of beauty, it was a handsome full of masculine charm, flamboyant and sharp, without any feminine beauty – he didn’t think he could be mistaken for a woman.

Although Lou Yan was disgusted with Fu Xuezhou, he was extremely unwilling to become the protagonist of the wedding coffin with Fu Xuezhou. But if there had to be a “bride” and “groom,” then shouldn’t the “bride” be Fu Xuezhou?

Lou Yan was rich, he was handsome, and he had a healthy body. With Fu Xuezhou’s long hair, wasn’t he more suitable to be the “bride”?

But when Lou Yan realized what he was thinking, his expression twisted slightly.

…Why was he thinking about this? Did he really plan to “get into the sedan” with these eerie beings?

Lou Yan looked darkly at the coffin and the eerie beings in front of him. For a moment, his expression seemed even more ferocious than what was in front of him.

These eerie beings that suddenly appeared were obviously very dangerous, and he would never enter the coffin in front of him and follow these eerie beings to leave. Lou Yan’s mental strength was running low now, and his only way out was to escape quickly.

Everything looked the same in this forest, except for the river. These eerie beings could suddenly appear in front of him carrying a coffin, indicating that they were very fast and likely capable of teleportation. Escaping into the forest was useless, the way out was likely in the river.

Their eerie appearance and clothes were very similar to the traditional paper figures used in weddings and funerals. Even if they didn’t look like paper people, Lou Yan wanted to test whether water was their weakness.

Lou Yan asked, “Why am I the ‘bride’?”

His intention was not to know the answer but to delay the eerie beings’ time. Before the words even fell, Lou Yan turned around and ran desperately towards the river, using every ounce of his strength.

The body modified by the eerie beings was fast, and Lou Yan, cautious as he was, wasn’t far from the river. Almost in the blink of an eye, one of Lou Yan’s feet had already entered the river.

Was it useful?

Just as Lou Yan finished this thought and was about to throw himself into the river, he felt a sudden intense pain in his chest.

Lowering his head, he saw a tongue piercing through his chest. This tongue curled around his heart, and as Lou Yan spat out a mouthful of blood, weakly falling into the river, he turned his head along the tongue and saw the four men with terrifying makeup greedily feasting on his heart. They drooled greedily, chewing with delight in their mouths that split to their ears, flesh and blood slipping through their teeth.

As they ate, they looked at Lou Yan sinking into the water, laughing strangely, “Dead, dead, let’s find the next bride!”

D*mn it…

Lou Yan closed his eyes.

Time reversed!

Lou Yan: I have a hundred curses I don’t know whether to say or not.
