Chapter 102
<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>
Gu Yang’s golden finger was fully and unreservedly used during this long summer vacation, but it wasn’t him who used it primarily; it was Fan Yuan who did.
The phrase “Eat the marrow and know the flavor” was thoroughly dismantled, crushed, and chewed over and over again by Fan Yuan.
As the long summer vacation was coming to an end, the acceptance letters were successfully delivered to the small villa.
The summer vacation was over, and Fan Yuan and Gu Yang looked unchanged.
However, during their last dinner with Meng Zhan and the others before going to college, they all said that Fan Yuan and Gu Yang seemed a bit different, but they couldn’t pinpoint what exactly had changed.
Pan Fei said it was called maturity, but Li Ziyan felt that Pan Fei was lying. They were all the same age, so why did Fan Yuan and Gu Yang mature after just one summer vacation, while they did not?
After the last meal, everyone was about to head to different cities and begin their new university lives.
Being newly grown-up young men and women, they were full of anticipation for the future.
Gu Yang knew that Fan Yuan had bought a small apartment near their university. It was highly probable that they wouldn’t return frequently during winter and summer vacations. After this farewell, they would have fewer chances to meet with these classmates. So during the dinner, they drank a lot of alcohol.
With Fan Yuan by his side, Gu Yang had no concerns about drinking. He drank heartily and soon passed out. He didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye before being carried back home by Fan Yuan.
As the date for college enrollment drew near, Fan Yuan and Gu Yang also began packing up and preparing to go to the city where the university was located.
Gu Yang ran up and down the stairs, digging out everything he could think of to take with him.
Fan Yuan had long understood Gu Yang’s temperament, so he let him do as he pleased. Whatever Gu Yang brought down, whether it was useful or not, Fan Yuan would organize it and wait for the logistics to come and transport everything together.
In the end, Gu Yang pulled Fan Yuan to the end of the second-floor corridor to a large iron door. He first tiptoed to kiss Fan Yuan, then held Fan Yuan’s hand to unlock the fingerprint lock of the large iron door and walked inside.
Inside the large iron door, there were paintings hanging on the walls that extended beyond the line of sight. Most of them were paintings of Gu Yang drawn by Fan Yuan, while a few were “unrecognizable” paintings drawn by Gu Yang.
Gu Yang walked along each painting, seeming to want to take them with him, yet feeling a bit reluctant, afraid that something might happen during transportation.
Fan Yuan leaned against the door, watching Gu Yang almost hugging the wall and walking in circles, his gaze also falling on those paintings. With each painting, it seemed that he could envision the scene at that time.
Gu Yang walked along the wall, his fingertips gliding over it, suddenly halting.
His fingertips sensed an unevenness on the wall, which the naked eye couldn’t easily distinguish, but his fingers could feel it.
Gu Yang followed the uneven gap up and down, confirming that there was a hidden door here.
He slowly turned back, and Fan Yuan, who was leaning against the door, was watching him.
The cage inside the large iron door was quite spacious, with a delicate large birdcage occupying a large part of the space. Gu Yang and Fan Yuan faced each other across the golden railing.
“Fan Yuan, what’s in here?” Gu Yang curved his finger joints and lightly tapped the wall.
Fan Yuan seemed to have no intention of hiding anything. He stood up straight and walked directly toward Gu Yang.
He walked up to Gu Yang and pressed him tightly against the wall, saying nothing. Suddenly, he kissed him deeply.
Gu Yang didn’t ask any more questions and allowed Fan Yuan to kiss him, his waist gradually softening, and Fan Yuan supported him.
Fan Yuan’s left hand leaned against the wall beside Gu Yang, and he suddenly knocked a few times.
The wall behind Gu Yang slowly opened, revealing a hidden entrance.
The wall behind Gu Yang moved away, and he lost the support behind him. His waist tilted backward, forming a soft arc, but Fan Yuan’s palm supported him.
Fan Yuan stepped back slightly, his hand still pressed against the small of Gu Yang’s back. Then he straightened Gu Yang’s body.
“Your waist is getting softer,” Fan Yuan remarked.
Gu Yang turned his head away, avoiding Fan Yuan’s gaze, pretending not to hear Fan Yuan’s comment about his weak waist.
As he turned, Gu Yang saw what was hidden behind the door.
It was a neat and tidy storage cabinet, with various exquisitely decorated boxes of different sizes placed on top.
Gu Yang picked up one of the boxes and looked inside. It contained a jet-black feather, and he knew that it was a feather he dropped during his “Nightingale” period.
Not just this box, everything inside all the other boxes was related to him.
After a brief glance, Gu Yang turned his head to look at Fan Yuan.
Fan Yuan stood at the center of the door, his back a little stiff.
Although he seemed to stand casually, he blocked Gu Yang’s way out completely. If Gu Yang had any intention of escaping, Fan Yuan would catch him immediately and hide him away, locking him up.
Gu Yang shook the box in his hand, and a smug smile appeared on his lips.
He carefully put the box back in its place, then slowly walked towards the door and towards Fan Yuan.
As Gu Yang approached, the muscles on Fan Yuan’s body tensed as well. He seemed prepared to trap Gu Yang in his embrace if Gu Yang attempted to escape.
However, when Gu Yang reached Fan Yuan, he simply reached out and grabbed Fan Yuan’s collar, forcing him to lower his head and close the distance between them.
Gu Yang’s warm breath covered Fan Yuan’s slightly cool lips, and his clear eyes stared into Fan Yuan’s deep, black eyes. He spoke slowly, his voice low:
“Fan Yuan, it turns out you love me so much—”
The last note of his words was elongated, with a seductive tone.
Gu Yang released his grip on Fan Yuan’s collar, then raised his hand to embrace Fan Yuan’s neck, gently rubbing his nose against Fan Yuan’s:
“But I still hope you could love me even more, much more.”
Fan Yuan’s black eyes slowly drooped, staring intensely into Gu Yang’s eyes.
In Gu Yang’s slightly lighter pupils, there was a gleam of radiant laughter and an unmistakable happiness. Fan Yuan’s figure was reflected in that overflowing joy, fluctuating with the tide.
“Okay,” Fan Yuan said.
Suddenly, Gu Yang’s feet left the ground, and Fan Yuan lifted him up. Gu Yang became anxious and patted Fan Yuan’s arm.
“I didn’t mean this kind of love! You can reduce it a bit!” Gu Yang exclaimed.
Ignoring him, Fan Yuan held Gu Yang tightly as he walked out.
In his haste, Gu Yang spread out his left hand and selected “Nightingale.” The countdown began immediately.
Black feathers extended from Gu Yang’s back, accompanied by the sound of his shirt tearing, and black feathers slowly fell.
Gu Yang flapped his wings hard, trying to break free from Fan Yuan’s embrace and fly into the sky. He wanted to fly to a place where Fan Yuan couldn’t reach him, so he wouldn’t be caught and pinned down on the bed again.
Unexpectedly, Fan Yuan reacted quickly. Just as Gu Yang was about to fly up, he grabbed Gu Yang’s ankle.
Gu Yang turned back, flapping his wings anxiously, and many black feathers fell.
“Let go of me! I don’t want to today! My waist hurts!”
Fan Yuan didn’t loosen his grip, he lifted his head, his expression calm as he gazed at Gu Yang. His arm exerted even more force, pulling Gu Yang back into his embrace.
Gu Yang struggled, but in the next moment, Fan Yuan used his fingertips to press down on the roots of his wings, causing them to lose strength. Gu Yang’s whole body went limp in Fan Yuan’s embrace.
Fan Yuan originally intended to carry Gu Yang in the direction of the bedroom, but he changed his mind and brought Gu Yang directly into the luxurious birdcage.
As soon as Gu Yang saw the swing, he felt tired, and his wings began to flutter again.
“Click.”
Fan Yuan pulled up the long-unused chain from under the swing and locked it in front of Gu Yang’s neck.
Gu Yang was stunned, he reached out and shook the chain, making a clear sound.
The suppressed desires from his “Nightingale” period slowly resurfaced in Gu Yang’s mind, brought back by the sight of the swing.
He was different from other nightingales; he was a nightingale that wanted to be kept in captivity.
Rather than freedom, he preferred being cared for by Fan Yuan, living a comfortable life like a pet bird.
Gu Yang immediately stopped flapping his wings and sat quietly on the swing. He opened his wings, enveloping Fan Yuan within them.
Fan Yuan placed his hand on Gu Yang’s smooth feathers and gently caressed them.
“Not flying anymore?” he asked.
Gu Yang shook his head, and the chain around his neck rattled.
“No, not flying.”
In the days leading to their departure for another city, Gu Yang stayed in the birdcage house with Fan Yuan.
On the day they had to leave, Fan Yuan frowned and carried a reluctant Gu Yang out.
Gu Yang flapped his wings frantically, and black feathers fell all over the place. When he reached the door of the birdcage, he grabbed the iron bars and refused to let go.
“I don’t want to go out! I won’t go out! I don’t want to go out! Let go of me!”
Fan Yuan didn’t dare to use too much force, afraid of hurting Gu Yang, so he helplessly stood at the door of the birdcage.
“Gu Yang, school is about to start.”
Gu Yang turned his head, tears welling up in his eyes, and he acted coquettishly with Fan Yuan:
“Fan Yuan, I don’t want to go to college. Can I stay here? Can you take care of me?”
Suddenly, Fan Yuan let go of him and placed Gu Yang on the ground.
Gu Yang was taken aback. His wings, which had been flapping non-stop, slowly folded, disappearing and leaving behind two large tears on the back of his shirt.
“Gu Yang, I will go to college. Do you plan to stay here on your own?”
As he spoke, Fan Yuan took a step out of the birdcage, standing outside and looking at Gu Yang.
Gu Yang lowered his head, lips pursed tightly, and he gradually loosened his grip on the iron bars, then followed Fan Yuan out of the birdcage, grabbing onto the corner of Fan Yuan’s clothes.
He didn’t dare to grab too much, just a small corner.
“I’ll go with you. I don’t want to stay here by myself.”
Fan Yuan slightly opened his arms, and Gu Yang immediately jumped up, leaping into Fan Yuan’s embrace.
He still felt a bit aggrieved because he really liked this comfortable birdcage.
But…
Gu Yang pressed his ear against Fan Yuan’s and earnestly whispered:
“Wherever you are, that’s my cage.”
Fan Yuan finally managed to take Gu Yang on the plane and headed to the city where their university was located.
However, right after landing, Fan Yuan received a phone call, said a few words to Gu Yang, and then turned around and walked back into the airport.
Some of Fan Yuan’s stocks and investments were facing issues, and he needed to handle them personally.
Gu Yang was not unreasonable. He dragged their luggage and hailed a taxi to their small apartment near the university. Most of the luggage had been shipped through logistics.
The small apartment was cozy and had a duplex layout, but this time, there was no guest room, only a large master bedroom.
Gu Yang tossed the luggage aside and ran into the bedroom. When he saw the heavy bed, which was identical to the one in the villa, he was so overjoyed that he almost cried.
The newly hired twin brothers, the employees responsible for the large bed in the villa, were a bit nervous. They didn’t understand why the boss looked like he was going to cry whenever he saw them. They wondered if the boss knew they had gotten the job through connections. To ensure that they could continue working there, the twin brothers vowed to complete their work diligently and never be careless.
Since Fan Yuan left, several days had passed, but he still hadn’t returned. However, he would video call with Gu Yang every day, and even if there wasn’t time for video calls, they would stay in touch through WeChat. Gu Yang could always reach Fan Yuan whenever he wanted, so he wasn’t too worried.
Until the university enrollment date arrived, Fan Yuan still hadn’t returned.
Although it would be a lie to say that Gu Yang wasn’t sad, he understood that Fan Yuan had important matters to attend to, and he couldn’t stop him.
Fan Yuan had applied for leave from the university and postponed his enrollment. On the day of enrollment, Gu Yang went alone.
Before he even reported to the university, Fan Yuan’s name was already well-known among the new students. This was not only because of his terrifyingly high college entrance exam score but also due to his outstanding academic achievements since childhood and his legendary handsome appearance that people couldn’t forget.
Both the freshmen and the older students eagerly anticipated the arrival of the renowned new student, Fan Yuan.
However, on the day of enrollment, they learned that Fan Yuan’s arrival had been delayed due to some matters. The secretly gathered senior students at the school gate couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed.
In contrast, Gu Yang was much more low-key.
His grades were good, but among the nation’s top university, he was considered normally outstanding. Moreover, he had no legendary feats in any professional competitions, so no one knew about him in the university.
Even so, on the day Gu Yang went for enrollment, he still attracted some attention.
Not to mention anything else, just Gu Yang’s appearance alone was quite eye-catching.
The September sunlight was scorching as usual, and Gu Yang scratched his sweaty forehead irritably. He walked around the campus, searching for the registration point for his major.
Most of the new students around him were accompanied by their parents, carrying suitcases. Gu Yang, on the other hand, walked alone with nothing in his hands, making him stand out.
A few sophomore students squatting at the school gate noticed Gu Yang and their eyes lit up.
One of the female students nudged the male student next to her and pointed at Gu Yang, saying:
“Hey, look! Look! Your type!”
The male sophomore, who had been looking at the incoming freshmen with some annoyance, suddenly followed her finger and looked at Gu Yang. He immediately stood up and walked straight toward Gu Yang.
Regardless of anything else, Gu Yang’s appearance alone was quite striking among the incoming freshmen.
He was casually dressed in sportswear, his black hair finely cut and light, with a few loose strands falling on his forehead, slightly messy and showing a bit of sweat. Unexpectedly, it added a touch of sexiness. Gu Yang also had two unique earrings on his ear and a deep black necklace around his neck, making his fair skin look even whiter. The air of a naive student seemed to have undergone a tremendous change during the summer vacation. He looked like a completely blooming rose—dazzling, beautiful, and sexy.
Such a Gu Yang walking among the incoming students was indeed quite eye-catching.
Gu Yang was still trying to find the registration point for his major when the sophomore students stopped him.
“Hey, freshman, lost? Do you want a senior to show you around?” the sophomore said, extending his hand towards Gu Yang.
Gu Yang hesitated for a moment, then smiled politely and distantly, not shaking hands with him, and said, “Thanks, but I can find it myself.”
The sophomore student didn’t give up at all; instead, their fighting spirit burned even brighter.
Gu Yang was getting a bit impatient with the pestering, so he mentioned the place he was heading to.
“Well then, I’ll trouble you, senior.”
The sophomore student immediately smiled and said, “Don’t call me senior. I’m just one year ahead of you. My name is He Cheng. You can just call me by my name.”
Gu Yang nodded and replied, “I’m Gu Yang.”
With He Cheng’s guidance, Gu Yang successfully completed the enrollment process and chose a double room, filling both his and Fan Yuan’s names.
Although they had bought a small apartment near the university, they still needed a dormitory on campus as a resting place.
He Cheng didn’t peek at the dorm room Gu Yang chose; he was quite polite. However, he kept pestering Gu Yang for his contact information.
Gu Yang found it a bit annoying, but he gave in and provided his contact information before quickly finding an excuse to leave.
That night, Fan Yuan called Gu Yang and said he would be back in three days.
The enrollment took place a little earlier than the formal start of classes, so Fan Yuan’s return after three days was perfect timing. However, Gu Yang felt a bit bored by himself during that time.
The day before Fan Yuan’s return, Gu Yang didn’t want to stay in the empty apartment and went to the school’s sports field. He saw a group of people playing basketball.
Suddenly, a ball was thrown toward Gu Yang. He caught it and saw He Cheng.
He Cheng waved at Gu Yang. “Gu Yang, come play basketball?”
In the past two days, He Cheng had often invited Gu Yang out under various pretexts, but Gu Yang had never agreed. Today, they happened to meet, and surprisingly, He Cheng’s attitude was pretty good.
After some consideration, Gu Yang saw that there were quite a few people playing basketball, so he walked over with the ball in his arms.
The game was played vigorously and enthusiastically. Gu Yang was sweating profusely after the game and walked toward the water tap.
He Cheng followed and walked beside Gu Yang. His gaze fell on Gu Yang’s earrings and slowly moved down to the necklace.
“Your earrings… are quite unique, seems to have two English letters.”
Gu Yang answered openly, “It’s ‘fy’.”
He Cheng was stunned. “Fy? Does it have any special meaning? It’s not the abbreviation of your name, right?”
When Gu Yang mentioned ‘fy,’ he seemed to brighten up a bit. Finally, he smiled at He Cheng, and that smile almost dazzled him.
“Yes, ‘fy’ represents my life.”
Gu Yang walked to the water tap near the basketball court and turned it on, splashing cold water on his face. The water was splashing everywhere, on Gu Yang’s cheeks, neck, and even on his collarbone.
He Cheng’s heartbeat became more intense, and as Gu Yang stood up, he nervously stammered, “Gu Yang, do you… do you have a boyfriend?”
Gu Yang was taken aback for a moment and then quickly stepped back, his eyebrows furrowed.
He thought he didn’t reveal anything, but He Cheng wasn’t straight?
Suddenly, a familiar deep voice called out from behind Gu Yang, and it tickled his ears, making them itch.
“Gu Yang.”
Gu Yang’s furrowed brows immediately relaxed as he turned around and saw Fan Yuan standing not far behind him.
Then He Cheng saw something he never thought he would see—a slightly shy smile on the face of the normally cold and unapproachable beauty, Gu Yang. He watched as Gu Yang took three steps and practically leaped into the arms of another man.
Gu Yang rushed towards Fan Yuan and leaped into his arms, wrapping himself around Fan Yuan with both arms and legs.
“You came back early? You finally came back!” exclaimed Gu Yang.
Fan Yuan held Gu Yang in his arms, unconcerned about the other students around them. He didn’t mind that they were in the crowded area near the basketball court. Lowering his head, he gently kissed the corner of Gu Yang’s lips while his dark eyes locked onto He Cheng, who was still standing there stunned.
“Yeah, what are you doing?” Fan Yuan asked nonchalantly.
Gu Yang, being caught up in Fan Yuan’s gaze, had almost forgotten about He Cheng standing behind him.
He propped himself up on Fan Yuan’s shoulders, jumped down from his embrace, and placed his hand in Fan Yuan’s palm, sticking to it like glue.
Just a moment ago, He Cheng had felt a chill run down his spine as Fan Yuan’s intense gaze fixed upon him, even though he hadn’t done anything. He couldn’t help but take a step back.
Gu Yang tilted his head, leaning against Fan Yuan’s body, and playfully shook their interlocked hands. He then answered He Cheng’s question, “You asked me if I had a boyfriend, right? Well, this is my boyfriend, Fan Yuan.”
A twitch appeared at the corner of He Cheng’s mouth as he took another step back. His attempt to probe into Gu Yang’s mind was thoroughly thwarted.
“Is that so…” He Cheng mumbled to himself, feeling somewhat dazed, but no one paid any attention to his response as Fan Yuan and Gu Yang had already walked away.
Staring at their retreating figures, He Cheng muttered to himself, “Fy… Fan Yuan? Fan Yuan is that famous new student who delayed his enrollment! I heard some gossip that he had a little boyfriend in high school, and it’s actually true! No wonder! I’m just so unlucky!”
With Fan Yuan’s much-awaited enrollment, his popularity swept through the entire university.
At the same time, everyone, including both new and old students, came to know that Fan Yuan had a boyfriend named Gu Yang.
Their college life began, peaceful and full of happiness. Fan Yuan and Gu Yang lived their days happily and vibrantly.
When they turned 21, same-sex marriage became legal.
Since the day it became legal, Gu Yang eagerly looked forward to their 22nd birthday.
Finally, when Fan Yuan turned 22, Gu Yang followed shortly after. They went together to register their marriage.
The marriage certificate was bright red and a bit old-fashioned, but Gu Yang was overjoyed beyond words.
He held the rustic red booklet and couldn’t stop laughing. His laughter was infectious, causing Fan Yuan to not be able to resist pushing him against the window, revealing a pair of wolf ears and a fluffy wolf tail, and then he started crying.
After crying, Gu Yang laid in Fan Yuan’s arms with teary eyes, still holding onto the rustic red booklet tightly.
Fan Yuan helplessly curved his lips and hugged Gu Yang and the rustic red booklet together.
The next day, Gu Yang unusually skipped class.
Fan Yuan went to class, and some familiar classmates pointed to the bunch of fur stuck to his clothes and asked him, “Did you start raising a cat? Your clothes are covered in so much fur.”
Fan Yuan seemed to seriously consider it before replying, “No, I run a zoo at home.”
Over their four years in university, Fan Yuan and Gu Yang left behind many beautiful stories. Each story, when told, evoked envy from everyone who heard it.
By the time they graduated, Pan Fei, who had become a somewhat well-known comic artist, had the honor of attending an unforgettable wedding of the century.
The wedding’s protagonists were two men, named Fan Yuan and Gu Yang.
Youth would eventually pass, but love would not.
There is a kind of eternal love called “Yuan Yang.”
The end.
Author’s note: Starting tomorrow, I will begin updating the side stories.
When I wrote the three words “The End,” I was lost in thought for a long time, feeling reluctant. But in another world, little Yuan Yang will happily continue their own lives.
Thank you to all the little angels who have accompanied me to this point, bowing to you!

“Saving the Interstellar with My Medical Skills”
Yuan Huai was the most well-known medical cultivator in the Immortal Realm, skilled in reviving the dead and mending bones, as well as creating pills that could wash the marrow and change one’s fate.

I did get the tidbits I was hoping about their lives after high school, but it was so short that it wasn’t satisfying enough! I wanted to know what major Gu Yang took and what jobs both of them pursued. Fan Yuan most likely majored in a business course so that he can be his own future boss, so I was more curious about Gu Yang, since we didn’t really get any hint of his future career ambitions.
The only saving factor of this short look into their university lives was their marriage! I especially like that they officially threw a grand wedding, too. On that note, I was hoping to see the reaction of Gu Yang’s parents, although it’s implied they were fine with his relationship with Fan Yuan. Either way, the main text is finally complete, so now I’m really looking forward to the extras!
Thanks for the chapter! :D
