Chapter 101

Because Gu Yang never had a chance to leave the small villa, they both missed their graduation photos.

On the day of the graduation photo shoot, their phones didn’t stop buzzing. In the end, the classmates of Class 1 received only one word from Fan Yuan as a reply: “Busy.”

Pan Fei and Chai Jingqiu, who had a unique understanding of these two words, exchanged a smile, already scheming about various things.

Zhuo Wan frowned and slapped the table. She had just caught a glimpse of the smile between Pan Fei and Chai Jingqiu and instantly understood what those two girls were up to.

In the end, for the Class 1 graduation photo, Fan Yuan and Gu Yang didn’t attend. Instead, their photos were added later, but at least it was a complete graduation photo.

A few days after the graduation photo incident, Gu Yang absentmindedly remembered about the photo shoot. He immediately took out his phone, which he hadn’t had a chance to use in a while, and saw a WeChat message from Pan Fei with a photoshopped graduation photo of him and Fan Yuan.

Gu Yang pouted in grievance and immediately took his phone to find Fan Yuan to settle the score.

Fan Yuan took the phone, looked at it, and was quite satisfied. He bent down and kissed Gu Yang’s forehead, giving him a noble excuse, “Youth always needs some regrets.”

Gu Yang simply threw the phone into Fan Yuan’s arms, turned around, and ran away in anger. He hadn’t taken two steps before Fan Yuan caught up and pressed him down to the floor.

The carpet employee, which had been lonely for a long time in the small villa, finally started working on this day, and it had a very long working day.

The carpet employee worked silently and diligently and, with sweat from hard work, successfully finished its shift.

When Fan Yuan picked up Gu Yang from the carpet, he felt like he was pulling him out of the water. Gu Yang’s mind was a bit hazy, and he weakly stayed in Fan Yuan’s arms, being carried to the bathroom.

Under the warm water, Gu Yang’s vacant gaze finally showed some reaction.

Gu Yang leaned against Fan Yuan’s chest, which was even hotter than the warm water. He shook his slender fingers and selected “Thumbelina” from his left palm.

Once the countdown officially began, Gu Yang made a “bang” sound and shrank into a tiny version, fitting in Fan Yuan’s palm.

As a tiny Gu Yang, before fainting, he raised his little hand with satisfaction and gestured a middle finger at Fan Yuan, saying, “Come on! Fight me! Hmph—”

The “hmph” had no momentum at all, and the soft tone changed, finally closing his eyes and fainting in Fan Yuan’s palm.

Fan Yuan looked at the tiny Gu Yang lying in his hand, rubbed his little head with his finger, and carried him out of the bathroom after washing him.

Gu Yang thought that everything would be fine after shrinking, but he forgot an important aspect of “Thumbelina”: being emotionally stimulated would restore his normal size.

However, before waking up and remembering this aspect, Gu Yang slept soundly.

When he opened his eyes and saw Fan Yuan’s enlarged face, he was still dazed for a moment.

Fan Yuan seemed to be asleep too, and the sky outside the window was dark, while the bedside lamp was still on.

Gu Yang propped himself up with his sore limbs and sat cross-legged, thinking for a moment before waving to the window.

Green plant stems climbed up the wall like they had a human touch, opening the window and entering the bedroom, coming to the bedside.

Gu Yang stood up and sat on the plant stem, grabbing two large leaves to cover himself. He looked up and noticed a pure black notebook on the bedside table.

Gu Yang was very familiar with this notebook; it belonged to Fan Yuan. He had once had the opportunity to secretly take a look, but out of respect for Fan Yuan, he refrained from doing so.

However, now the notebook was openly placed on the bedside table, even flipped open with a pen placed on it, as if… Fan Yuan intentionally wanted Gu Yang to see it.

Gu Yang turned his head to glance at Fan Yuan, who was still lying with his eyes closed. Seeing Fan Yuan, he instinctively rubbed his waist.

Fan Yuan wanted him to see.

This thought flashed in Gu Yang’s mind and grew stronger.

He operated the plant stem to move closer and stood on the open notebook. With both hands supporting it, he knelt on it and read what Fan Yuan had written.

Starting from the first line, Gu Yang’s astonishment never stopped, and it only intensified as he continued reading.

On one page, there were the names of ten fairy tales and one time written from top to bottom.

Gu Yang crawled backward while reading, making way for the parts that were blocked by him. As he read, he murmured softly:

“The Little Mermaid, The Nightingale, Little Red Riding Hood, Thumbelina, Snow White, The Rabbit Bride, The Little Match Girl, Mrs. Fox’s Wedding, The Snow Queen, Sleeping Beauty…”

Below this series of fairy tale names was a time: “One month.”

Gu Yang suddenly turned his head to look at Fan Yuan lying on the bed. Fan Yuan had opened his eyes at some point and had been silently gazing at him with his deep, bottomless black eyes for who knows how long.

Under the tremendous shock, a faint green light appeared around Gu Yang’s body.

In the next moment, he fell from the sitting plant stem, reverting to his normal size, and sat on the carpet. The two large leaves couldn’t cover him anymore and fell to the ground.

But Gu Yang didn’t care about that. His eyes, now a jade green, were full of panic. He got up and pounced onto the bed, trying to squeeze into Fan Yuan’s arms, afraid that Fan Yuan would no longer welcome him.

Fan Yuan didn’t reject Gu Yang; in fact, he had already opened the blanket, welcoming Gu Yang into his arms. He let Gu Yang crawl into the space and wrapped his arms and legs around him tightly.

“Fan Yuan… You, do you know?” Gu Yang asked softly and nervously.

He knew Fan Yuan had guessed many things, but he didn’t expect Fan Yuan’s guesses to be so accurate. Did Fan Yuan know about other things besides these fairy tales?

Fan Yuan’s fingertips gently traced Gu Yang’s spine, and he leaned down to Gu Yang’s ear, his voice low and affectionate, “Know what? Do I know about your monthly fairy tale transformation, or do I know about a book called ‘Fan Yuan’?”

Gu Yang suddenly clutched the lapel of Fan Yuan’s sleeping robe, his heart pounding rapidly, almost jumping out of his chest.

Fan Yuan actually knew about the book “Fan Yuan”!

When did he find out?

The only opportunity for Fan Yuan to see that book would be in the dream world brought about by “The Little Match Girl.” But Gu Yang threw the book away the day after waking up from that dream. Did Fan Yuan still manage to see it?

Gu Yang didn’t even know how to explain. He just looked at Fan Yuan, using his limbs to tightly cling to him, his emerald eyes resembling gems soaked in spring water.

“Fan Yuan…”

Fan Yuan’s back arched slightly, and he lowered his head, drawing closer to Gu Yang. He pried open Gu Yang’s hand that clung tightly to his lapel and then held it in his own hand against his chest.

Due to the immense panic, Gu Yang’s hands turned ice-cold.

“Gu Yang, what are you afraid of?”

“Are you afraid that I won’t believe you anymore? Afraid that I’ll think… my existence is all an illusion?”

Gu Yang stiffened, unable to answer or move.

Fan Yuan simply tucked Gu Yang’s hand into his robe and pressed it against his warm chest.

“There is an indelible bond between us, and I can feel your love—ardent and profound, impossible to ignore.”

Fan Yuan gently embraced the stiff Gu Yang into his arms, using his warm breath to ease his tension.

“I exist, and I am real.”

The spring water soaked with green gems surged out, and Fan Yuan lowered his head, swallowing each warm droplet.

Gu Yang buried his cheeks in Fan Yuan’s chest, and his soft lips touched the area where Fan Yuan’s heart should be. He kissed Fan Yuan’s heart reverently and then confessed everything, leaving nothing out, speaking about every detail.

From that moment on, there were no more secrets between the two of them.

After thoroughly baring himself, Gu Yang received another one of Fan Yuan’s countless 24-hour gifts.

Due to his continued emotional excitement, Gu Yang couldn’t transform into little Gu Yang. It could be said that his plan to use “Thumbelina” to avoid the cordial chat with the employees of the little villa had completely failed.

A few more days passed in a daze, and Gu Yang finally remembered that today was the day the college entrance exam results were released, and they had to check their scores.

On the day of the exam results, in the early hours of the night after extreme exhaustion, Gu Yang crawled out of Fan Yuan’s embrace and found his phone, which he hadn’t used in a long time.

He couldn’t find his own phone, so he decided to check the results using Fan Yuan’s phone.

With only a few minutes left until the results were released, Gu Yang anxiously refreshed the webpage.

Fan Yuan seemed uninterested in checking the results and slept soundly next to Gu Yang.

When the time finally arrived, Gu Yang anxiously clicked on the webpage. Just as he entered it, Fan Yuan forcefully pulled him back into the blanket, causing his phone to slip from his hand and fall to the ground.

Gu Yang exclaimed, “Fan Yuan! The results are out! Quickly check them!”

Fan Yuan paid no attention, instead leaning in to kiss Gu Yang. He even turned on the bedside lamp, his dark eyes fixated on Gu Yang’s emerald eyes. It seemed that he enjoyed looking at Gu Yang’s expression when they were close.

Gu Yang couldn’t resist Fan Yuan’s kiss and began to feel dizzy. However, this time was different. It was the day the results were released, and nothing could stop Gu Yang from checking them. After all, it concerned their future together.

For a moment, Gu Yang felt dazed, but he quickly regained his senses. A brilliant green light shone in his emerald eyes, and in the next moment, several plant stems squeezed in from outside the window, winding around Fan Yuan’s hands and feet, restraining him on the bed.

Fan Yuan’s limbs were immobilized, and he couldn’t move or resist. He didn’t say anything, just kept his black eyes fixed on Gu Yang, observing everything about him.

Gu Yang sat on the carpet beside the bed, looking down at his phone.

It had been a long time since he had last cut his hair, and the ends were getting longer, falling on his shoulders. His bangs had also grown longer, covering his eyebrows and eyes.

Gu Yang could feel Fan Yuan’s gaze, and it made him blush all over. He felt uncomfortable and shifted his legs, pulling down the shirt that was hanging off him.

Seemingly because many students were checking their results at the same time, Gu Yang refreshed the page multiple times before finally seeing his score.

An almost perfect score appeared before his eyes, and the words “Fan Yuan” in front of the score were particularly conspicuous. Gu Yang couldn’t help but exclaim happily before starting to check his own score.

After several refreshing attempts, Gu Yang’s fingertips trembled a bit, unsure if it was due to nervousness or exhaustion.

When the results finally appeared before his eyes, Gu Yang suddenly became quiet.

He stared at the phone for a long time in silence before putting it down and looking at Fan Yuan, who was bound to the bed with the plant stems.

“Aren’t you worried that I did poorly on the exam?”

Fan Yuan smirked, and a hint of confidence and pride appeared in his black eyes.

Not confidence and pride in himself, but in Gu Yang.

“I believe in you.”

A smile appeared on the corner of Gu Yang’s mouth, and he couldn’t help showing some happiness.

“I’m glad I didn’t let your trust down.”

Gu Yang got up and intended to head to the guest room, but Fan Yuan was still bound by the plant stems that Gu Yang had used.

Fan Yuan’s smile deepened a little, and when Gu Yang reached the doorway, he called out to him:

“Gu Yang.”

Gu Yang’s legs were still weak, and he couldn’t help but reach out to support himself against the doorframe. He turned around and glared at Fan Yuan fiercely.

“What now? I’m going to sleep in the guest room tonight! Don’t touch me!”

Fan Yuan didn’t try to stop Gu Yang but struggled a bit to sit up, leaning against the headboard.

Seeing Fan Yuan move around, the plant stems tightened around him. Gu Yang secretly controlled the plant stems to relax slightly.

Fan Yuan sat at the head of the bed, and his robe had already opened up, exposing the conspicuous “Gu Yang” bond mark on his chest.

He raised his wrist slightly, where there was a faint mark left by the plant stems.

But if Fan Yuan hadn’t struggled, the plant stems wouldn’t have left any marks on him.

Gu Yang was well aware of this, yet when he saw Fan Yuan furrowing his brows, his heart softened.

Even though Fan Yuan didn’t say a word of pain, Gu Yang had already softened his legs and walked back.

With a stern expression, he pulled back the blanket, and the plant stems retreated like a tide, climbing out the window.

Gu Yang cradled Fan Yuan’s wrist gently and blew on it softly. Then, he fiercely wrapped Fan Yuan’s wrist in his embrace.

He was tense all over, waiting for Fan Yuan’s countless 24-hour gifts.

Gu Yang knew full well that Fan Yuan was setting traps, but he willingly jumped into them.

Fan Yuan opened his other arm and gently embraced Gu Yang, just a hug, nothing more.

“Sleep now.”

Gu Yang blinked in surprise, not expecting Fan Yuan to do nothing.

Seeing Gu Yang looking at him with that kind of gaze, Fan Yuan sighed softly.

“Gu Yang, I’m sorry for making you so tired.”

Gu Yang’s eyelashes trembled, and he gently pressed his forehead against Fan Yuan’s chest.

“It’s… It’s not that tiring.”

Fan Yuan lightly patted Gu Yang’s back, pulling him even closer into his embrace, his long legs also wrapping around him.

“I just… really want you.”

With a well-aimed kiss, Gu Yang’s heart began to race again. He even thought, it doesn’t matter if he’s a bit tired, after all, it’s Fan Yuan.

In the following days, the employees at the villa got a brief rest, and Gu Yang also successfully went out with Fan Yuan to get a haircut. With a refreshing and stylish haircut just like Fan Yuan’s, Gu Yang walked with confidence.

After the college entrance exam results were released, they quickly returned to school to fill out their college applications.

In fact, once the results were out, there was almost no hesitation for Fan Yuan and Gu Yang.

They both applied to the same university, and they only applied to this one.

This was the last time the students of Class 1 in their senior year gathered so neatly. Zhuo Wan called the students together again and took many photos around the campus as souvenirs.

Finally, Fan Yuan and Gu Yang had their official graduation photos, not the photoshopped ones anymore.

Gu Yang knew that Zhuo Wan had done this on purpose. When they bid farewell, Gu Yang thanked Zhuo Wan again and was then playfully tapped on the forehead by her.

“Alright, alright. Boys shouldn’t be so dilly-dallying. Don’t forget me, your homeroom teacher, okay?”

Gu Yang raised a bright smile. “How could I forget? You’ll always be our most important teacher.”

With high school life completely settled, Gu Yang had originally planned various graduation trips. However, when the long vacation finally arrived, he found that he only wanted to stay in the villa with Fan Yuan.

The summer was hot and muggy, and there was nothing more comfortable than turning into a fish and staying at the bottom of the pool.

In mid-July, Gu Yang used “The Little Mermaid” and, under Fan Yuan’s careful guidance, finally learned to splash around in the water.

If it were told that a human was teaching a merman to swim, probably no one would believe it.

Gu Yang might have been born with the swimming talent missing from him by the heavens. Although he never learned to swim in the end, he did learn how to breathe underwater using a mermaid’s posture.

Although he didn’t have gills after transforming into a merman, he could somehow feel that the oxygen in the water seemed to enter his body from all over his limbs.

Gu Yang thought that since he could transform with fairy tales, there was no point in considering things like having gills.

After mastering underwater breathing, he started bringing various items to the bottom of the pool and even had a large shell-shaped bed custom-made to put underwater.

Fan Yuan let him tinker around, and while Gu Yang was busy in the pool, Fan Yuan sat by the poolside reading a book, quietly accompanying him.

Until Gu Yang turned the pool bottom into another underwater bedroom and refused to come out, Fan Yuan slightly frowned.

He put down the book, jumped into the water with a splash, and swam all the way to the pool bottom. He saw Gu Yang comfortably lying in the large shell bed, eyes closed, taking a nap.

Fan Yuan swam directly to him, held the back of Gu Yang’s neck, and fiercely kissed him.

Gu Yang never expected that Fan Yuan would follow him to the bottom of the water to kiss him. His beautiful blue fish tail flapped twice, and the tips of his tail fin twitched excitedly.

He thought Fan Yuan would only kiss him for a breath’s time, but he didn’t expect that Fan Yuan had no intention of resurfacing for a long time.

In the end, it was Gu Yang who anxiously and worriedly fed Fan Yuan a breath of oxygen.

Once this kind of thing started, it seemed impossible to end.

Fan Yuan seemed to have found a way to play and frolic underwater with Gu Yang for an extended period—as long as Gu Yang continuously fed him oxygen.

In the past, Gu Yang would rely on Fan Yuan to breathe underwater. Now, with roles reversed, Gu Yang was still basking in the enjoyment when his tail was thoroughly explored.

When he turned into a merman before, the tail was just a tail. But now, it was more than just a tail.

Fan Yuan was very smart, being the sole male lead of a book, there was no questioning his intelligence.

It only took him ten minutes to study Gu Yang’s tail, and he immediately understood how to utilize it from multiple angles and in various ways.

Gu Yang never thought that, after learning to breathe underwater, he would still end up choking on water one day because of excitement, forgetting to breathe.

The side effects of “The Little Mermaid” made it difficult for Gu Yang to stay away from Fan Yuan for too long and too far, or else the dryness of the fish tail would make him very uncomfortable.

But this time, Gu Yang never complained about his tail being dry. His fish tail not only remained dry, but it practically never left the water.

Although Gu Yang could provide oxygen to Fan Yuan, staying in the water for too long was not ideal. After playing crazily a few times, they finally left the pool.

One day during the day, Gu Yang laid on a chair by the window and watched the hired workers change the pool water and clean it. When he saw several workers looking puzzled at the large shell bed and a bunch of small pearls at the bottom of the pool, he couldn’t help but blush.

His blue and shiny fish tail couldn’t help but pat lightly, but before he knew it, Fan Yuan came over and held his arm, lifting him up.

His fish tail couldn’t help but curl up, and Gu Yang looked back at Fan Yuan in confusion.

“What’s wrong?”

During the period of “The Little Mermaid,” Gu Yang not only loved to act cute and cry but also had a bit of a fish brain. He would forget whatever Fan Yuan had done to him in a while and never held a grudge.

When Gu Yang turned back, Fan Yuan kissed him lightly and, like carrying a child, held his fish tail to carry him away from the window.

“What’s there to see about a few workers?”

Gu Yang looked up at Fan Yuan seriously, wondering if Fan Yuan would be jealous just because he glanced at the workers while they were cleaning the pool.

Following that, Fan Yuan took him to the cage room at the end of the corridor. As the door opened, Gu Yang saw the big fish tank inside.

The large fish tank had an even more beautiful big shell bed than at the bottom of the pool, and there were many beautiful underwater plants around it.

Fan Yuan climbed up the ladder and put Gu Yang inside.

As soon as Gu Yang entered the water, he flicked his tail and swam straight to the beautiful large shell bed.

Curiously, he touched the large shell bed and then turned to look at Fan Yuan, who was standing outside the fish tank.

After a moment’s thought, Gu Yang swam over again and pressed his hand against the glass of the fish tank.

Fan Yuan suddenly raised his hand and pressed his palm against Gu Yang’s hand through the glass.

Gu Yang pursed his lips and resurfaced again.

Fan Yuan climbed up the ladder and asked, “Why did you come out? Don’t you like it?”

Gu Yang shook his head and swam towards Fan Yuan with open arms, wanting a hug. “But I like being with you even more.”

Fan Yuan hesitated for a moment, then immediately hugged the wet Gu Yang tightly, not minding his clothes getting damp.

In the end, Gu Yang’s little pearls were cried on the bed. Because he cried too much, and they didn’t have time to tidy up, they left many small round imprints on both of their backs.

Afterward, Gu Yang pitifully laid on Fan Yuan’s lap, asking him to rub his sore back. Tears welled up in his eyes, and a few more pearls fell with each blink.

Fan Yuan pinched several small pearls and placed them in Gu Yang’s palm, then he playfully flicked Gu Yang’s nose. “You cried these pearls out yourself, and yet you still find them bothersome?”

Gu Yang belatedly remembered that these pearls were quite valuable. He immediately cupped his hands near his cheeks, crying and catching more pearls in no time.

He stuffed the small pearls into Fan Yuan’s pockets, filling them up.

Fan Yuan’s pockets quickly swelled, and he lifted Gu Yang up. His fish tail gleamed on the side, looking bright and dazzling.

“Why are you giving them all to me?”

Gu Yang flicked his tail and patted the bed. He had already forgotten the pain from the small pearls on his back.

“I’m using the pearls to support you.”

The curve of Fan Yuan’s lips grew bigger, and he lowered his head to gently kiss Gu Yang’s eyes.

“I’m hard to support, could you give me a little more?”

Gu Yang’s hands rested on Fan Yuan’s arm, and the movement of his tail slapping decreased. The light pink on his cheeks gradually turned into a ripe cherry color.

“Okay.”

During the summer vacation before entering university, Gu Yang became a big producer of small pearls.

But he didn’t feel proud at all, really.

Author’s note: Gu Yang, the big producer of small pearls, makes an appearance.

Fan Yuan: Sweeping the bed to welcome you.

See you tomorrow, muah muah~
