Rebirth in the Apocalypse: The Peach Blossom Debt Chapter 87

Hearing Qi Yue’s words, Tang Ke along with Lin Yuze, who was driving, were both a little stunned. Was Qi Yue indirectly accepting them? He had never said anything like this before. Tang Ke was suddenly overtaken by joy, not knowing how to express his emotions. He leaned over the seat to the back row, grabbed Qi Yue over in one pull, and fiercely kissed him on the face.

“F*ck, what are you going crazy for.”

Qi Yue was caught off guard and almost spilled the crystal liquid in his hand. He frowned slightly with a hint of complaint as he turned his head to look at Tang Ke, raising a hand to wipe off the spit on his face. But when he saw Tang Ke’s emotion-filled eyes, the words of complaint couldn’t come out. His face suddenly became so hot, feeling as if a soft place in his heart had been touched. Unable to help himself, he leaned forward and kissed the moist lips on that handsome face.

Softly, first a tentative touch, and once they touched, they couldn’t separate. The two intertwined their lips and tongues, no longer as intense as before: careful, filled with endless affection.

After a long while, Qi Yue pushed Tang Ke away with light panting. His slightly reddened eyes, filled with moisture, seemed as if they were trying to seduce.

Hearing Qi Yue call his name with a flushed face, Tang Ke felt as if something in his heart was going to overflow, wishing he could knead Qi Yue into his body and cherish him for a lifetime.

Watching Tang Ke sit back down, Qi Yue pursed his lips and tilted his head to look at Lin Yuze again. Time had turned the person before him from a youth into a man. It seemed as if he had returned to many years ago, when the silent young man accompanied him through those difficult and bitter years. His eyes grew wetter, and he leaned forward to kiss Lin Yuze on the cheek while he was driving. Before the other could react, he quickly shrank back and continued fiddling with his gun.

Lin Yuze let out a soft laugh, looking at the lowered-head Qi Yue through the rearview mirror.

The car became very quiet. No one spoke, but the atmosphere had changed. It felt very good.

In another car, Liao Feifan looked at Liu Yue’s side profile, her expression shifting gloomily. Ever since seeing her again at Base B, he realized she had changed a lot. Her once gentle personality had become sharp. How could she not change after suffering such wrongs.

Liao Feifan asked with concern, “Little Yue, have you foreseen anything that will happen in the future?”

For so many years, relying on Liu Yue’s ability, they had subdued many ability users and collected a large amount of supplies, even allowing his ability to advance to early stage level seven, standing proudly above the people in M Base. Level seven was extremely high even in all of Huaxia, only very few people had reached this level.

Liu Yue withdrew her gaze from outside, looked at Liao Feifan with a cold face. This person was really annoying. Coaxing him for years had become tiresome. If he weren’t so obedient to her, she wouldn’t even bother looking at such an idiot.

“Sorry, Feifan, my mood hasn’t been good lately. I didn’t sense anything.” Liu Yue’s eyes were filled with endless apology.

“Little Yue, let the unhappy things from before pass. Your health is more important, don’t exhaust yourself.”

Liu Yue nodded in response. Her ability had already recovered. If danger came, she would just enter her space, she couldn’t care less about the others. It would be best if they were all bitten to death by zombies.

As time passed, the atmosphere grew more tense. With the breeze blowing, the stench in the air became even stronger.

Close to midnight, the convoy stopped on the highway to rest. This should be the last stop. Once more, food, water, gasoline, and other necessary supplies were distributed to each vehicle, so they could still survive and reach Territory Village even if the convoy became scattered.

Facts proved how wise the earlier decision had been. Not long after the last stop and getting back on the road, the team encountered zombies coming from the side. Hearing those low growls unique to zombies, even though everyone was prepared, they were still somewhat flustered.

They eliminated the zombies that entered their ability range. The speed of the vehicles increased, still driving forward. The corpse tide would come from the side, and although the clairvoyant ability users in the team hadn’t seen a large group yet, judging from the noises, they shouldn’t be far.

More and more scattered zombies came, following behind the cars. After clearing one wave, another followed, endless and tireless, increasing in number.

Under the faint moonlight, they could vaguely see the distant incoming zombie army, the long line stretching over the mountains, vast and boundless. One could only rely on the overwhelming stench assaulting the nose to confirm this wasn’t a dream.

Gunfire, explosions, and sounds from abilities grew more intense.

The zombies moved faster and faster. The road ahead was blocked by zombies leaping in. Slowly, the convoy was forced to stop, they had to clear these zombies that had caught up first.

Bang… bang…

Qi Yue reached his gun out from the open car window, specifically shooting zombies with bright red eyes, the redder the eyes, the higher the level. Tang Ke and Lin Yuze had already gotten out of the car, standing in front to unleash their abilities.

“Roar…”

Clang—a zombie suddenly jumped onto the roof. Another landed on the windshield.

Lin Yuze and Tang Ke were not far from the car, tangled up by the steady stream of zombies and unable to return. They could only glance anxiously toward the car.

The moment the zombies jumped up, Qi Yue quickly rolled up the window, shifted from the side of the car window to the middle seat, holding his gun and looking up at the roof.

The zombie clinging to the windshield struck it hard. Cracks had already formed. The other zombie clung to the roof above.

Qi Yue stared without blinking, judging the position of the zombie from the dents caused by its pounding.

“Qi Yue, get into the space quickly!” Tang Ke’s panicked voice came from outside.

Crash—

The window beside him shattered. A rotten arm reached in. In that instant, Qi Yue drew the skinning knife from his space and slashed upward. The blade pierced through the iron roof.

With a puffing sound, rotten fluid dripped down onto the seat.

After killing the zombie on the roof, Qi Yue pulled back the knife. Leaning forward, he gave another quick slash to the zombie that had broken the windshield and stuck its head inside. Turning the handle hard, he finished off both zombies.

There was no time to clean up. Putting the knife back into his space and holding his gun, Qi Yue opened the door and jumped out.

Everywhere, ability users were being bitten, screams echoing. The team no longer had its former imposing manner. As more zombies surged in, chaos broke out. Some cars had already driven off, leaving the convoy but it was futile. They didn’t get far before being surrounded.

“Zzz…” Tang Ke’s voice came through the communicator: “Focus. Prioritize clearing the zombies in front of the vehicles.” Most things had been arranged beforehand and didn’t need to be explained one by one now. If casualties were too high, abandoning cars was necessary.

Gun in hand, Qi Yue joined up with the two and eliminated the zombies around them. They unleashed group attacks, clearing a small path, and moved forward toward the tank at the front.

Liu Yue had also gotten out, holding a handgun, following behind Liao Feifan and occasionally shooting zombies that got close.

Halfway, they crossed paths. Qi Yue frowned at Liu Yue. Every time he saw this woman he felt blocked inside. Even if she had been punished, he was still unhappy. Quietly, taking advantage of no one paying attention, Qi Yue put a lock-target on Liu Yue.

Every battle with zombies resulted in deaths. They lost a small number of ability users and abandoned some cars, but finally, before the massive zombie horde fully arrived, they broke free of the attack. The convoy moved forward dangerously, the zombie army still following behind, as planned, attracted by the noise.

A tank moved ahead to clear the way. Tang Ke, Lin Yuze, and Qi Yue climbed into a military jeep that followed closely behind. After abandoning some of the damaged vehicles, the convoy still appeared overly long on the highway. A temporary decision was made to split into two teams at the next junction. One team would continue along the main road, while the other would take the rural back roads, dispersing the massive horde of zombies so that the pressure would be relatively reduced.

Seeing the car behind still following, Qi Yue asked irritably, “Why didn’t they take the main road?”

By right, Liao Feifan’s group should have gone with the other team on the main road, but for some reason, they kept following Tang Ke’s car.

“Little Yue, what’s wrong with your ability?” Liao Feifan asked with concern. He was used to someone getting hurt and Liu Yue treating them, but this time she said she couldn’t use her ability.

Liu Yue’s face darkened. “Do you think I’m lying?”

For some reason, her ability wouldn’t activate again. What was going on? It had worked before. Liu Yue felt anxious and angry.

“Sorry, Little Yue, I was too anxious. Rest for a bit, your ability will come back later. It worked before, didn’t it?” Liao Feifan coaxed her gently, knowing Liu Yue must be the most worried about her ability failing.

“Could it be that Qi Yue is behind this?” Liao Feifan said with some doubt.

Hearing that, Liu Yue snapped her head over. “How did you know?”

Liao Feifan nodded, analyzing: “His ability is related to food. The people who ate his food before could recover spent ability and even trigger new abilities. We didn’t eat it, maybe it affected us?”

“So you’re blaming me for throwing away that food?” Liu Yue’s voice rose. Just hearing Qi Yue’s name made her lose control. That transvestite not only stole her man, but dared make her ability disappear, how could she stay calm?

“No, how could I blame you? It’s all Qi Yue’s fault. We acted for the sake of the base’s people, he’s trying to hurt you for his selfish motives. He’s too hateful.” Liao Feifan said angrily.

Hearing this, Liu Yue felt much better. She softened, leaned close to Liao Feifan’s ear, and whispered.

“Feifan, do you think I’m ruthless?” After speaking, she lifted her head, looking melancholic.

Liao Feifan withdrew his surprised look. “No. They’re all wicked people. What you did is right. Little Yue, you’re thoughtful and cautious.”

Liu Yue spoke with such caution, her manner so pitiful and endearing. “If I did all these things without telling you, would you be angry with me?”

Liao Feifan comforted gently, “How could I blame you? I can’t praise you enough. My Little Yue, you’ve considered everything the most thoroughly.”

Only then did Liu Yue break into a proud smile as she nestled in his arms. Her eyes were full of smugness. This time, she came just to see those people’s miserable state.

Sigh, Qi Yue, you’ve come courting death again. Stupid people really never learn. Tang Ke, Yan Bin—when I gave you a path to live, you didn’t take it. Opposing me means you all have to die.
