Chapter 48

Pei Yunshu’s brows furrowed involuntarily.

Zhuyou approached him, and the mist around the edge of the pool swayed with his movements. Pei Yunshu was almost submerged in the water, but when he saw Zhuyou getting closer to the pool, he reached out and created a barrier around the entire pool.

“No need for you to do this,” Qingyue sword flew over, blocking Zhuyou. “You should leave for now.”

Ripples of blue waves spread across the barrier, and Zhuyou was blocked outside. He furrowed his handsome brows and said, “Senior Brother Yunshu, Junior Brother just wanted to wash your back.”

He extended a fingertip and gently touched the barrier. The barrier rippled like water for a moment and then dissipated into thin air.

But in the next moment, Qingyue sword leaped out of its sheath and rushed toward Zhuyou.

Zhuyou, who was trapped, lightly dodged and was about to look into the pool, but suddenly, the water turned into four walls, trapping him in a small space.

Pei Yunshu fastened his belt and looked sternly at Zhuyou. He held Qingyue sword, which had flown back to him, and approached Zhuyou, who was trapped inside.

Even though he was trapped, the person inside didn’t seem to be in a hurry. He gazed at Pei Yunshu greedily with a pair of black eyes, as if he hadn’t seen Pei Yunshu in a long time and couldn’t wait to have his fill.

With water droplets still clinging to his hair and his back soaked, Pei Yunshu dared not let his guard down. He looked at Zhuyou, who was trapped, and asked, “Junior Brother Yunjiao?”

Yunjiao glanced around at the water walls surrounding him and sighed. “Senior Brother, what does this mean?”

Was he just playing with him, or was it someone else entirely?

Pei Yunshu’s gaze swept over Zhuyou, and he realized that without the approval of their Grandmaster, no one could enter. Zhuyou, Bai Lige, and Hua Yue were all brought up by him personally, so there shouldn’t be a problem. But if it was others, without the people on the mountain leading them, they shouldn’t be able to enter Three Day Peak.

But if it was not Zhuyou, then who could it be?

Bai Lige? Grandmaster?

But it didn’t seem like Bai Lige, and it certainly didn’t seem like their Grandmaster.

The more Pei Yunshu looked, the more confused he became. He put Qingyue sword behind him but didn’t let his guard down. “It’s late at night. What is Junior Brother coming to my room?”

Water droplets still clung to his hair, some absorbed by his clothing, while others fell to the ground. Zhuyou gazed at him, something fleeting in his eyes, but it quickly subsided.

“Senior Brother,” he said, his tone suddenly sounding somewhat forlorn, “The first thing junior brother did when he woke up was to come find you.”

Pei Yunshu’s brow twitched. He emerged from the mist, holding the sword pointed at the person’s chest, and said sternly, “Who are you?”

Zhuyou’s expression remained unchanged, and he looked at Pei Yunshu with confusion. However, his gaze now contained some resemblance to Zhuyou.

A rush of water cascaded around Zhuyou, and Pei Yunshu was caught off guard. He could only create a barrier to block the water pouring onto him. The water flowed all over the floor, and Zhuyou stood amidst the streaming water, drenched from head to toe.

Zhuyou seemed unfazed, his eyes half-closed. In the blink of an eye, he had Pei Yunshu pinned against the intricately carved wooden door.

The door resounded with a loud thud.

“Senior Brother, Senior Brother… Senior Brother Yunshu.”

With his back against the wooden door, there was no need for him to pretend. Pei Yunshu had completely turned cold.

One by one, he cast spells at the person in front of him, who was persistent in calling him. The person took every hit but didn’t have Zhuyou’s defensive abilities. His body was covered in wounds, and only the hand clutching Pei Yunshu’s wrist displayed monstrous strength.

This person continued to call out to Pei Yunshu, his voice transitioning from calm to painful, and then slowly returning to calmness. Pei Yunshu silently recited sword incantations, and Qingyue sword had already begun to float slowly behind him.

Warm breath sprayed on his neck, and this person suddenly spoke, “Senior Brother, are you trying to kill me?”

Qingyue sword’s speed didn’t slow down. The sharp blade pierced through the person’s body, passing through his shoulder. Half of the crimson blood splattered onto Pei Yunshu.

The man made a muffled groan, raised his gaze to meet Pei Yunshu’s, and his eyes flashed with myriad emotions. Finally, he extended his tongue and licked away a drop of blood that had splattered onto Pei Yunshu’s face.

“Senior Brother, I’ll wake up faster next time and come to see you earlier.”

His tone sounded aggrieved. “Promise your junior brother not to get too close to others, okay?”

Pei Yunshu watched him quietly. Qingyue sword was drawn out, ready to strike again, but the person in front of him had already disappeared.

There was no sign of spiritual energy fluctuations around, only a mess and bloodstains on the ground. Pei Yunshu gripped his sword and quickly left the room.

Outside, Bai Lige and Zhuyou were each holding a book, engrossed in their reading. They looked like seasoned scholars who had been studying for a hundred years in the mortal world.

Pei Yunshu approached quickly and, without waiting to explain to Zhuyou, began tearing open his clothes.

His left shoulder was exposed, without any signs of injury.

Zhuyou raised his gaze to look at Pei Yunshu, then lowered his eyes to the erotic paintings in his hands, his eyes sparkling. He pulled off his own belt, and his outer garment fell to the ground in an instant. He was about to continue undressing when Pei Yunshu hastily stopped him. “No need to undress!”

Only now did Pei Yunshu realize that forcibly stripping someone’s clothes off was akin to the actions of a thug or a robber.

Zhuyou’s clothes hung loosely, with one shoulder half exposed. Upon hearing Pei Yunshu’s words, he looked at him as if realizing halfway that he had been deceived like a good, innocent young man.

Pei Yunshu felt thoroughly embarrassed, and Zhuyou held his hand, pulling him onto his lap. He gently stroked Pei Yunshu’s hair, which had quickly dried.

“So fragrant,” Zhuyou said as he sniffed lightly at Pei Yunshu’s hair. His fingers traced over the bloodstains on Pei Yunshu’s body and picked up a little red. He sniffed it carefully. “Fragrant.”

Pei Yunshu was about to get off him, but upon hearing this, he also wiped some red and leaned in to take a light sniff. His expression suddenly froze. “Floral fragrance.”

Bai Lige became curious and approached. He was about to join in sniffing, but Pei Yunshu looked at his left shoulder. Bai Lige raised an eyebrow and said, “Is my husband also interested in seeing Ge’s body?”

Pei Yunshu’s ears turned red. “It’s not what you think.”

“Husband need not explain,” Bai Lige said firmly. “If my husband wishes to see, I can accompany him at any time.”

After saying that, Bai Lige began to unbutton his own clothes. Before Pei Yunshu could stop him, his eyes were covered by a hand. Pei Yunshu knew that Zhuyou had shielded his eyes. He didn’t dare to move, afraid that he might see something he shouldn’t.

After a moment, Zhuyou released him. “No injuries.”

Pei Yunshu felt guilty and said, “I didn’t doubt you guyys.”

Even if it were them, Pei Yunshu would only have thought they were playing around with him.

Zhuyou pecked him gently at the corner of his eye, and his clothes were still disheveled. Pei Yunshu quietly pulled up the clothes on his shoulder, but he had no way to avoid Zhuyou’s light kiss.

Bai Lige approached and took the red-stained clothes to his nose, sniffing them before chuckling. “Did someone crush peach blossoms into juice and splash it on you?”

“It turns out to be the scent of peach blossoms,” Pei Yunshu suddenly realized. He raised Qingyue sword and used his handkerchief to wipe away the bloodstains. When he sniffed it, it did indeed carry the fragrance of peach blossoms. “No wonder I couldn’t smell any blood.”

Could it be that the person just now was an illusion?

But the mess on the ground and the peach blossom juice on him were undeniably real.

As he listened to what had just happened, Zhuyou was filled with a murderous aura that permeated the entire courtyard. Sinister marks appeared on his face, giving off a menacing presence. “Someone impersonated me?”

“Weird,” Bai Lige frowned. “I and Zhuyou were here the whole time, and we didn’t see anyone break into the barrier.”

Suddenly, Zhuyou picked up Pei Yunshu and, with a swift movement, took him to the bedroom. He placed Pei Yunshu on the bed and covered him with a thin blanket before lowering the bed curtains.

Standing guard by his side, Zhuyou said, “Sleep.”

Zhuyou stood by the bed, and from inside the bed, one could only faintly see his silhouette. Pei Yunshu had initially felt awake, but now, drowsiness was creeping over him.

With Zhuyou there, he felt incredibly safe. Pei Yunshu had just closed his eyes when he opened them again after a while.

After thinking it over, he finally lifted the bed curtains and revealed his face to look at Zhuyou outside.

He cleared his throat. “Do you want to come in and sleep?”

***

White gauze floated lightly.

Zhuyou embraced Pei Yunshu as if he were holding a treasure. The heat emanated from the points where their bodies touched, making Pei Yunshu uncomfortable. “I’ll move to the side.”

Before he could move, Zhuyou’s skin suddenly turned cold, and he clung to Pei Yunshu’s body, not letting go. “Not hot.”

“….” Pei Yunshu pursed his lips and whispered, “Alright….”

He felt extremely uneasy. Whenever the other person moved, he would startle, afraid that something might happen during this night.

Gradually, Pei Yunshu couldn’t resist the drowsiness. His breathing gradually became steady, and he fell into a deep sleep.

Zhuyou watched him and suddenly transformed back into his original form, shrinking into a small flood dragon. His flood dragon head rested beside Pei Yunshu’s head, and he gazed at him for a while. Then, his vertical pupils slowly closed.

***

Early the next morning, Pei Yunshu woke up with a cold, snake-like tail wrapped around him.

What was in his arms felt incredibly comfortable. He looked down and saw a tail covered in glossy black scales that he was holding in his embrace. Pei Yunshu slowly raised his head and met a pair of black vertical pupils.

“!” Pei Yunshu’s expression suddenly changed. He jumped out of bed before the tail could release him. However, the tail wrapped around his waist, pulling him back onto the bed.

Zhuyou slowly transformed back into his human form, draped over Pei Yunshu’s body. His voice was lazy. “Why are you running away?”

Pei Yunshu only realized now that it was a flood dragon. It was Zhuyou’s true form.

Feeling more at ease, he looked outside and saw that it was already late. “We should get up.”

During the Grand Cultivation Event, aside from the first day when all disciples were required to be present, the following days only required participants in the matches to arrive on time. Pei Yunshu had watched the matches all day yesterday and gained a lot from it. Today, he also wanted to watch and see how disciples from different sects defeated their opponents.

His cultivation level was not low, and his golden core was much larger than most. He also had a demon core inside him. However, his experience in actual combat was lacking. If he were to face someone with the same level of cultivation but better combat experience, he might have to rely on depleting their spiritual power to win.

This tactic could harm the enemy but also exhaust himself.

After grooming himself alongside Zhuyou, Pei Yunshu walked out of the room. However, he was momentarily stunned when he saw something.

Throughout the entire courtyard, peach blossom trees were in full bloom, and with a gentle breeze, the soft pink petals danced gracefully in the sky, their fragrance wafting in all directions, creating a delightful atmosphere.

Over the course of one night, the peach blossoms had all bloomed.
