Chapter 86

The baby was unaware that a wicked flood dragon was drooling next to it. It grinned, and with the scent of milk, a small bubble of drool came out.

Zhuyou held the baby’s little hand, which had curled into a tiny fist. This fist was incredibly small, small enough to fit in one mouthful. Zhuyou sneakily glanced at the frozen Pei Yunshu. Seeing that he was still in a daze, Zhuyou opened his mouth, intending to put the baby’s little fist into his mouth.

“Zhuyou,” Pei Yunshu gritted his teeth, “let go of his hand.”

After explaining to Zhuyou that “babies shouldn’t be eaten,” Zhuyou, although not attempting to taste the baby’s little fist, still kept his eyes on the baby. In Pei Yunshu’s eyes, he seemed quite eager to do something.

Pei Yunshu gently handed the bowl and spoon to Hua Yue and then pulled Zhuyou out of the door, scolding him harshly.

After being scolded, Zhuyou thought of his own appearance as a child a month ago and asked, “Do I look tasty?”

Now, with a tall figure and handsome face, his eyes deep and profound, he was indeed imposing. Who would dare to eat him?

“Do you want others to eat you?” Pei Yunshu asked, “Boiled or roasted?”

“Do you want to eat me?” Zhuyou asked.

Pei Yunshu said impatiently, “I don’t eat people or demons.”

Wife was angry.

Zhuyou thought about the way to respond from the book and recalled the rumors he had heard on the street a few days ago. He held Pei Yunshu’s hand, “Yunshu, there’s a famous mountain on the west bank with a high pavilion. It’s quite renowned.”

He seemed a bit hesitant but squeezed Pei Yunshu’s hand forcefully, “I want to go there with you.”

Pei Yunshu pulled his hand away, “Not going.”

Zhuyou pursed his lips and lifted his hand to kiss it, looking deeply at him. He affectionately said, “Wife, Husband, Yunshu.”

Pei Yunshu’s expression remained unchanged, but his face blushed slightly, “Now that the family suddenly has an extra baby, everyone is at a loss. If you and I go, they won’t be able to handle it.”

Zhuyou didn’t compromise and stubbornly waited for his consent.

Pei Yunshu asked, “Why do you want to go to that mountain?”

Upon hearing this, Zhuyou’s earlobes surprisingly turned red.

Pei Yunshu looked at his blushing earlobes in amazement, then at his calm expression and glanced at his earlobes again.

Zhuyou, this shameless dragon, was actually feeling shy?

Was it his eyes playing tricks on him, or did the sun rise from the west today?

Pei Yunshu rubbed his eyes, but the redness on Zhuyou’s earlobes remained. He stared at them for a long time. Zhuyou turned his head, attempting to cover his ears. The more he did so, the more peculiar Pei Yunshu found it. He followed Zhuyou and bent down to look at Zhuyou’s face.

Zhuyou not only blushed in his earlobes but also had a hint of a rosy glow on his face.

Pei Yunshu, unbelieving, yet teasingly said, “You’re blushing, Zhuyou.”

Zhuyou muffledly said, “No.”

He turned half a circle again, avoiding Pei Yunshu’s gaze.

Pei Yunshu followed him, turning half a circle. It was quite interesting. He laughed, “You’re really blushing, and your earlobes are completely red. I never thought you would have such a look. Could it be… Zhuyou is actually shy?”

Zhuyou raised his head slightly after being teased, looked at him, and nodded silently.

Pei Yunshu approached, bending even lower, with a smile full of mischief, “So, why are you shy?”

Zhuyou spoke slowly, “Your collar is loose.”

Pei Yunshu was stunned, subconsciously looking at his collar. He realized that when he was lying on the bed feeding the baby, he had loosened his clothes. Now, bending over, everything was exposed, and Zhuyou had seen more than he should have.

He stood up straight in an instant, stiff and awkward, his face changing colors.

Zhuyou said, “The color of peach blossoms is more delicious than the baby.”

He deliberately turned his face away, and Pei Yunshu, who was trying to get closer again, made him look long enough.

Pei Yunshu’s face kept changing, but he couldn’t utter the words “do not look unless invited” to Zhuyou.

This was because Zhuyou had already refrained from looking, and instead, it was Pei Yunshu who incessantly ran up to Zhuyou’s eyes, as if deliberately wanting to show him something.

“Babies can’t be eaten,” the first thing he said surprisingly was this, “you’re not allowed to talk about eating babies.”

Zhuyou responded, “Not eating babies, eating peach blossoms. After eating peach blossoms, they look delicious and taste delicious too, even better.”

Pei Yunshu squinted at him. Suddenly, his figure flashed, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared. But shortly after, Pei Yunshu returned, enveloped in the wind. In his hands, he held a bunch of flourishing peach blossoms. One hand pulled down Zhuyou’s neck, while the other hand unceremoniously stuffed a handful of peach blossoms into his mouth. “Then eat a bit more.”

After making Zhuyou eat his fill of peach blossoms, when Zhuyou’s lips were stained with the color of peach blossom juice, Pei Yunshu returned to the room in high spirits. The three big men in the room were gathered around the baby, who, in turn, was giving them face, occasionally giggling, being extremely well-behaved and lively.

Seeing him enter, Young Master Qingfeng’s face paused, and his eyes uncontrollably glanced at him a few times. He whispered, “I’ll fetch some hot water.”

Bai Lige and Hua Yue were lounging on the side. “This baby is really finely taken care of. At a glance, it seems like he might be cold, hungry, or thirsty.”

Pei Yunshu walked over, sat beside them, and continued to amuse the baby. He lightly scratched the baby’s chin with his finger, and the baby, without any defenses, revealed a toothless smile.

“He’s extremely lucky,” Pei Yunshu’s eyes softened. “He hasn’t lost his life even in the icy wilderness. He can eat and drink, isn’t afraid of strangers, and will surely achieve great things in the future.”

The baby cooed a few times, reaching out and grabbing a strand of Pei Yunshu’s long hair, seemingly echoing his words.

Pei Yunshu chuckled, holding the baby’s hand. “Can you understand what I’m saying?”

The baby’s hand was as soft as cotton, with an excellent touch when held. Soft and delicate, it seemed quite delicious.

Unconsciously, Pei Yunshu pinched and played with the baby’s hand. Glancing to the side, he felt somewhat guilty as he held the baby’s hand and brought it to his lips, kissing it a few times.

Fragrant and sweet, like a very soft steamed white bun, also quite petite, as if it could be swallowed in one bite.

Pei Yunshu’s eyes lit up. Opening his mouth, he initially just wanted to try, but unexpectedly, he really stuffed the baby’s hand into his mouth.

This was truly miraculous. The newborn’s fist was not even the size of a mouthful.

Pei Yunshu marveled in his eyes, took the baby’s little hand out, and suddenly felt two pairs of hot gazes cast from the side.

Pei Yunshu stiffened all over, and after a moment, he pretended to calmly let go of the baby’s hand. The baby, thinking he was playing, giggled happily.

“Yunshu, you…”

“Beauty Yunshu you…”

Pei Yunshu cleared his throat, hands behind his back, glancing at them. “What’s wrong with me?”

Bai Lige and Hua Yue stared straight at Pei Yunshu. Just as they were about to speak, Pei Yunshu hastily interrupted them, “Zhuyou and I are going out today. We’re leaving now. Take good care of the child.”

Having said that, without waiting for their response, he fled.

Bai Lige and Hua Yue looked at each other, and after a while, he furrowed his brows, not very sure, and asked, “Did Yunshu just eat the baby’s little fist?”

Hua Yue nodded absentmindedly.

Bai Lige: “Is the baby really that delicious? Yunshu even followed Zhuyou’s bad influence.”

Hua Yue said, “Looking all soft and tender, like a steamed bun.”

As he spoke, he even began to salivate.

Seeing that no one was playing with him on the side, the baby turned his head around, and with a glimpse of his mouth, he seemed to be about to cry.

In a panic, Hua Yue hurriedly stepped forward. “I was lying to you, lying to you. No one wants to eat you. We’re all good monsters who don’t eat people.”

***

Not eating people and not eating demons, Pei Yunshu hastily escaped, only to see Zhuyou standing outside in a daze.

Pei Yunshu grabbed Zhuyou’s wrist, pulling him towards the door. “Weren’t we going to see some mountain and pavilion? Let’s go now.”

Zhuyou snapped back to reality, his eyes brightened. He reached back and grabbed Pei Yunshu, “I’ll take you.”

Although the mountain that Zhuyou wanted to take Pei Yunshu to was steep and towering, compared to the mountains and waters of the Shanshui Sect, it lacked some grandeur and spirit.

A sense of guilt emerged in Pei Yunshu’s heart. He was just curious and didn’t actually want to eat the baby. How could he eat a baby?

He must have been influenced by Zhuyou.

After convincing himself, Pei Yunshu curiously looked around, wanting to know why Zhuyou valued this mountain so much.

“Zhuyou,” Pei Yunshu tugged Zhuyou’s hand, “look at that patch of blooming flowers.”

“Hmm.” Zhuyou absentmindedly glanced at the flowers, walking even faster.

The mountain path had been trodden into a winding and rugged trail by previous people. Pei Yunshu, observing Zhuyou’s hurried pace, and couldn’t understand. “If you’re anxious to get to the mountaintop, why not just fly up?”

“Can’t fly,” Zhuyou turned around to look at Pei Yunshu, saying seriously, “It requires sincerity.”

Strange, Pei Yunshu thought. Climbing a mountain requires sincerity?

Seemingly sensing his nonchalance, Zhuyou frowned and requested, “You also need sincerity.”

“But what sincerity do I need?” Pei Yunshu asked.

Zhuyou glanced at him, and his earlobes turned slightly red. Pei Yunshu looked at his ears in disbelief and then at Zhuyou, probing, “Zhuyou, are you hiding something from me?”

Zhuyou didn’t answer that, only saying, “If you sincerely wish in your heart to be with Zhuyou forever, that’s sincerity.”

Pei Yunshu’s earlobes also turned subtly red. Even the hand held by Zhuyou felt uncomfortable, sweating and sticky. “Who said I want to be with you forever?”

He retracted his fingers, scratching the palm of Zhuyou’s hand. Zhuyou’s earlobes also reddened. Despite having done more intimate things, at this moment, they seemed unusually awkward.

“You,” Zhuyou’s palm was warm, “Zhuyou wants to be with you forever.”

“How far is forever?” Pei Yunshu whispered, “In the cultivation world, where time is not measured, it could be hundreds or thousands of years, which is a very long time.”

Zhuyou said, “The longer, the better.”

Pei Yunshu couldn’t help but say, “But for so long, how can you guarantee that it will always be with me?”

Zhuyou looked at him seriously, his black eyes filled with determination like shining stars. “I just want to.”

“But…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Zhuyou covered his mouth. Zhuyou frowned, displaying dominance. “No ‘buts.'”

Pei Yunshu softened when he was kissed by Zhuyou and remained silent.

Zhuyou pulled him along, continuing to ascend. After a few steps, Pei Yunshu wondered, how could Zhuyou believe in this?

How could this work? If sincerity was effective, half of the cultivation world would have ascended by now.

He thought a lot in his mind but, in the end, silently prayed.

If it really works…

Then let him and Zhuyou be together forever.

***

After climbing to the mountaintop, Pei Yunshu thought it was the end. However, Zhuyou led him around turns and twists, eventually arriving at a celestial pool.

Surrounded by ethereal clouds, the pool water was exceptionally clear and pure. Next to the pool stood a stele with the three characters “God Spirit Pool” written on it.

Zhuyou pulled Pei Yunshu to squat by the pool, attentively observing the bottom of the pool.

Pei Yunshu accompanied him for a while, but his eyes started to hurt. No fish swam by. He asked Zhuyou, “What are we doing here?”

Zhuyou pursed his lips, continuing to gaze straight into the pool. After a while, his expression on his face became increasingly disappointed. His eyes lowered, making him appear as if he had been abandoned.

Pei Yunshu couldn’t help but ask when he couldn’t see the expression on Zhuyou’s face, “What’s wrong with you?”

Zhuyou raised his eyes to look at him, and his black eyes were full of sadness. “They said that if a couple in love comes to this pool, as long as they love each other enough, the water will change.”

Pei Yunshu choked, and it took him a moment to recover. “Who are they?”

“People on the street,” Zhuyou said, “people in the teahouse.”

He was filled with a sense of loss at the moment, answering Pei Yunshu’s questions without any spirit.

Pei Yunshu could hardly believe that Zhuyou actually believed in such rumors. He only glanced at the “God Spirit Pool” and knew that there was no spiritual power in it. How could such a spring pool undergo any changes?

This was too much for Zhuyou, who didn’t understand the ways of the world.

Pei Yunshu thought angrily.

But he had to first appease Zhuyou. He tentatively asked, “What changes would happen if a loving couple came here?”

Zhuyou’s eyes gradually lost their light. “Flowers would bloom in the water.”

Pei Yunshu nodded and moved his fingers behind him. “Zhuyou, don’t think too much. Maybe the pool water didn’t have time to react yet.”

Zhuyou, still skeptical, looked at the water again.

Just then, Pei Yunshu’s heart moved. The water surface in the middle of the pool suddenly stirred, and clear water gathered in the center. Gradually, a beautiful and blooming flower emerged.

Above the water, a continuous flow sparkled, crystal clear. Pei Yunshu was the first to express surprise, saying, “It’s actually blooming!”

Zhuyou’s eyes flickered, and a momentary smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He nodded in agreement.

Pei Yunshu hadn’t seen this scene. When he turned around, Zhuyou had already put away his smile. His eyes, too, gleamed with light. “It bloomed. It turns out wife loves me so much.”

Pei Yunshu was puzzled. “What?”

Zhuyou stood up, pulled Pei Yunshu and kissed him, smiling. “I love you very much, Yunshu.”

“Wait, I—”

“We love each other so much,” Zhuyou said, “let’s form a bond.”

After saying this, he extended his spiritual awareness, and in Pei Yunshu’s dazed state, Zhuyou induced him into forming a bond, a rare and seldom-used mutual vow.

The mutual vow made the thoughts of the two parties connected, allowing them to share life and death, and if one of them died, the other wouldn’t be able to survive either.

But the benefits were considerable. After forming the mutual vow, they could face the tribulation together, and the benefits during dual cultivation were even greater.

But once the vow was made, unless one died, they could never be separated.

Pei Yunshu was led to form such a bond with Zhuyou without any preparation.

As they descended the mountain, he hadn’t recovered yet. His face was full of confusion, and Zhuyou was in high spirits, tightly holding his hand, striding forward.

When Zhuyou brought him back to the residence, he was carried by Zhuyou to the bed, and he still hadn’t reacted.

Zhuyou had never been in such a cheerful mood before. His lips carried a smile, and at this moment, he was kissing Pei Yunshu’s face with a playful look. His hands unfastened Pei Yunshu’s belt and removed his clothes piece by piece.

When Pei Yunshu felt the cold, he suddenly came back to his senses. His eyes widened, and he quickly pulled the quilt to cover himself. Blushing, he scolded, “Zhuyou, what are you trying to do?”

Zhuyou’s eyes darkened suddenly. He pulled down the quilt, and Pei Yunshu held it tightly. Zhuyou said, “To see the effects of dual cultivation after forming a bond.”

He pressed down, lowered the bed curtain, and buried his head in Pei Yunshu’s neck, nibbling.

***

Five days passed with Pei Yunshu and Zhuyou in the room. Finally, when Bai Lige threatened with a silver spear at the door, Zhuyou opened the door.

Pei Yunshu was still sound asleep on the bed. His face showed an abnormal flush. The room’s scent, escaping through the windows and doors, hinted at what had transpired.

Zhuyou blocked the door, frowning displeased. “What’s the matter?”

Bai Lige, sensing the scent, also wore an uncomfortable expression on his face. After a while, he expressed his concern. “Doing it like this, can Yunshu withstand it?”

Bai Lige sighed and advised, “In this world, only the ox dies from exhaustion, not the cultivated land. Don’t let Yunshu tire himself from you.”

Zhuyou’s face turned black.

As men, Bai Lige didn’t dare to provoke him too much. He just reminded him with heartfelt advice, “Don’t forget about the old ox.”

Zhuyou’s eyes gleamed with complacency. “Yunshu is amazing.”

Bai Lige coughed twice, unable to resist saying, “What’s so amazing?”

Zhuyou was about to speak, but seeing Bai Lige’s expression, he instantly became expressionless. He swung his sleeve and slammed the door shut right in front of him.

As if closing the door wasn’t enough, Zhuyou added layers of barriers. Then, with an icy expression, he returned to Pei Yunshu’s side.

Pei Yunshu slept soundly, his face still showing signs of fatigue. Zhuyou stood by the bed, watching him. As he watched, he became completely captivated.

***

Pei Yunshu slept until the next morning. When he woke up, Zhuyou was gone. Pei Yunshu closed his eyes to rest for a while, then got up and went out.

The sun was shining brightly outside the door, and only Hua Yue was sunbathing with the baby in the courtyard. Pei Yunshu walked over and asked, “Where are they?”

“They said they were going to the mountain to hunt an old tiger, so they could make tiger whip soup for you to take care of your body. Yunshu, you’ve worked hard. How do you feel now? Does your waist ache? Your legs sore? Hua Yue can give you a massage if you want.”

Pei Yunshu’s face darkened. “Take care of your body?”

These words were said with gritted teeth.

Hua Yue shook, not daring to offer flattery anymore, and nodded obediently.

Pei Yunshu sneered, lifting his sleeve to reveal wrists covered in bruises. “Hua Yue, do you know which mountain they went to? I’d like to see what kind of tiger they are trying to provoke.”

The baby in Hua Yue’s arms gazed curiously at Pei Yunshu, reaching out towards him and making babbling sounds.

Hua Yue timely handed the baby to Pei Yunshu, smiling awkwardly. “Beauty Yunshu, calm down. You just woke up. It’s not worth going up the mountain to find them. Why not wait for them to come back and then teach them a lesson?”

Pei Yunshu’s cold laughter persisted. “You make sense.”

As he was about to take the baby from Hua Yue’s arms, a noise came from outside the door. Pei Yunshu frowned and sternly asked, “Who is it?”

There was no movement outside. Pei Yunshu had Hua Yue hold the baby securely, and he walked over to open the door. Upon inspection, there was no one around, only a rolled-up painting lying on the ground.

“A painting?”

Pei Yunshu furrowed his brow, brought the painting closer, closed the door, and returned to the courtyard with the painting.

Hua Yue asked curiously, “Beauty Yunshu, what is this?”

“I don’t know.” Pei Yunshu shook his head, unrolling the painting. Suddenly, the painting unfolded, revealing a portrait of a man. This man was elegant, with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth, clear eyes, and an exceptionally pleasant appearance.

Pei Yunshu felt a sense of familiarity but couldn’t grasp it before Hua Yue exclaimed.

Pei Yunshu turned to look at Hua Yue, and Hua Yue appeared astonished. “Beauty Yunshu, isn’t this a portrait of you?”

Pei Yunshu was stunned.

The next moment, the painting behind him twisted unexpectedly. In an unforeseen turn of events, it actually sucked Pei Yunshu into the painting!

After absorbing Pei Yunshu, the painting suddenly rolled up and was about to fly into the air. Hua Yue, alarmed, leaped up using a stool, narrowly catching the painting.

Hua Yue placed the baby down and, gritting his teeth, opened the painting. Inside, the person was still Pei Yunshu, but the details were even more lifelike, and his eyes contained a haunting brilliance.

“Oh no,” Hua Yue’s eyes filled with determination, “what kind of demonic art is this?”
