The Whole Sect Is Acting Strange Chapter 92

Chapter 92

<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>

It’s only been a few months, and the aura on the grandmaster’s body has become even deeper.

Pei Yunshu vigilantly looked at Venerable Wuwang, carefully stepped back, and when he found the opportunity, decisively changed direction, flying away from Venerable Wuwang at the fastest speed of his life.

The grandmaster lowered his eyes, and the feather-like butterfly wings trembled a few times. After a few breaths, he turned into white light and instantly appeared in front of Pei Yunshu again.

“You have already formed your Nascent Soul,” the grandmaster didn’t look at Pei Yunshu but glanced at the tree beside him. “Your divine consciousness is about to break through, very good.”

Pei Yunshu stopped his steps. He decided not to waste time. He thought he would be panicking and uneasy, but he felt calm and steady in his heart. “If the venerable hasn’t forgotten, I should have left the sect already.”

“My disciple’s wooden plaque has been crushed by me twice,” Pei Yunshu said, “Is the grandmaster planning to seal my memories again and bring me back to the sect, pretending that nothing happened?”

The grandmaster’s face turned pale for a moment.

Pei Yunshu found it amusing; Venerable Wuwang’s appearance seemed as if Pei Yunshu’s words could hurt him.

Without acting, facing the grandmaster, it was as if his emotions had been stripped away. “What else does the grandmaster want to do?”

Just sealing his memories and cutting off his emotions, he found it extremely disgusting.

In Venerable Wuwang’s eyes, it seemed like Pei Yunshu was just a puppet to be played with.

Venerable Wuwang said, “I won’t harm you.”

Pei Yunshu couldn’t help but laugh sarcastically.

Venerable Wuwang quietly looked at the tree. After a while, he whispered, “You lied to me.”

Pei Yunshu looked at him.

“You were not affected by my severing of emotions,” Venerable Wuwang said, “But I extracted Yunwang for you.”

A cultivator of the Heartless Dao wouldn’t use such a method to break through.

This was a shortcut. If the Dao was truly broken, during the tribulation and ascension, it would be unacceptable to the Heavenly Dao, just like Venerable Wuwang’s previous experience—his physical body fell, and his soul suffered severe injuries.

Venerable Wuwang’s soul couldn’t withstand a second failed ascension.

Pei Yunshu didn’t know how the grandmaster knew that his emotions weren’t severed, but he remained calm. “You sealed my memories without my consent and tried to sever my emotions. Now, are you complaining that I didn’t willingly let you sever my emotions, letting you commit a mistake for nothing?”

Venerable Wuwang closed his eyes. “I didn’t mean that.”

Pei Yunshu said, “But you took away Yunwang, which should mean you have no feelings for me.”

Venerable Wuwang quickly smiled, a hasty and pale smile, appearing quite embarrassed. After a moment, he restrained the smile, transforming back into the cold and sharp demeanor of a keen sword. Looking at Pei Yunshu, his gaze seemed to be directed at an ordinary disciple. “I am your grandmaster, how could I have any improper thoughts about you?”

He spoke word by word, not clear if he was addressing Pei Yunshu or speaking to himself.

Pei Yunshu said, “Swear it.”

Venerable Wuwang was taken aback.

Pei Yunshu raised the Qingyue Sword, pointing the tip of the sword towards the sky. “Swear to the heavens.”

Grandmaster followed the tip of his sword and looked up. Above was the heavenly path, where clouds and mist surged, undergoing countless changes in the blink of an eye, as if the world had experienced profound transformations.

After a while, his eyes felt dry from staring, but he didn’t lower his head. “What kind of oath do you want me to make?”

“Swear that you will never harbor obsession for me, swear that you will never confine my freedom, swear that you will never approach me,” Pei Yunshu’s eyes gradually turned red, each word striking Venerable Wuwang’s heart like thunder. “If you violate this oath, you shall have no resting place in death.”

Endless grievances surged into his heart at this moment, making his eyes feel hot and sour. Pei Yunshu clenched his teeth and resisted this sudden surge of emotions.

Why should he cry? Just because he was bullied? What was the use of crying for the one who bullied him? Besides cowardice, what else did it show?

With these red eyes, Pei Yunshu stared at Venerable Wuwang, and Venerable Wuwang felt a fine and dense pain in his heart.

Strange.

This pain wasn’t severe, but for Venerable Wuwang, who had drawn away Yunwang, it was indeed quite strange.

Could it be that he hadn’t completely drawn it away?

The chaotic battlefield in front of the Punishment Hall was far away from here, and Zhuyou was also far away from Pei Yunshu.

There was no other support, but there were no other enemies either.

Pei Yunshu lowered his sword, aiming the sword tip at his grandmaster, and the hand holding the sword moved up, pressing against his pale lips.

“Do you dare to swear?”

Venerable Wuwang looked at him, as if wanting to take a step forward.

“Don’t come closer.” Pei Yunshu sternly said.

The renowned figure of the righteous path stopped his steps.

“I still have a part of my memories sealed by you and haven’t been unlocked,” Pei Yunshu said, “but it doesn’t matter. Zhuyou can help me unlock them. You just need to swear.”

Venerable Wuwang had no sword in his hand. He was undoubtedly a distinguished sword cultivator, yet Pei Yunshu rarely saw him use a sword.

Pointing a sword at his former grandmaster was an act of great defiance. Pei Yunshu knew that he couldn’t defeat Venerable Wuwang in any way. At this moment, he felt as calm as a spectator in his mind.

The sound of his heartbeat gradually faded away, and the turbulent emotions became as calm as melted snow. Reason told him what he should do, and he did it with extreme composure.

He placed the Qingyue Sword horizontally in front of his neck. His fair neck was reflected against the blue blade, and the sword remained as still as the most ordinary one, not daring to move a bit in his hand.

Venerable Wuwang’s expression changed abruptly.

“I can’t beat you. Instead of being confined by you, I might as well choose to die.”

After an unknown period, when the sword left a deep mark on his neck, Venerable Wuwang finally spoke. His voice was as light as the wind, his lips pale, and his face devoid of any color. “I swear.”

Venerable Wuwang, like a terminally ill patient delivering last words, extended his hand toward the heavenly path, toward the heart demon, and spoke the words Pei Yunshu had just mentioned.

“If I harbor the slightest inappropriate thoughts about you, let my heart be devoured by ants. If I violate this oath, let me,” Venerable Wuwang’s brow twitched, “let me find no resting place in death.”

Pei Yunshu listened carefully to every word. When the oath was established, he suddenly felt an extremely light sensation.

It was as if the rope that bound him had suddenly disappeared, and he gained his freedom.

His breathing became shallow and elongated, and Pei Yunshu looked at Venerable Wuwang with increasingly bright eyes.

Venerable Wuwang’s face remained unchanged. As he had stated, he didn’t harbor any inappropriate thoughts about Pei Yunshu. If he did, it would cause him heartache and unrest, which wasn’t reflected in his expression.

So, he genuinely didn’t like Pei Yunshu.

Pei Yunshu lowered the sword. He performed the final disciple’s salute, bending his waist into a slender line, and his black hair slid down his back.

Venerable Wuwang looked down at him, watching him complete the salute with an expressionless face, swallowing down the blood in his throat.

After Pei Yunshu finished the salute, he walked past Venerable Wuwang. Venerable Wuwang stood still, and when Pei Yunshu disappeared, he remained alone for a long time. Eventually, he painfully arched his back and, shrouded in the scent of blood, began to justify himself, “That wasn’t me.”

In Pei Yunshu’s memories from his past life, Venerable Wuwang wasn’t him.

Yunwang wasn’t him either.

In the long journey of life, there were only cultivation and swords. It was only after his soul transmigrated and reincarnated that he realized the profound meaning of the word “emotion.”

As soon as he appeared, he was met with the aversion and alienation from the person in his heart.

Wuwang forgot everything hastily and took on these things. Without having time to learn how to treat Pei Yunshu, he made many mistakes.

All the emotions brought to him by the word “emotion” turned out to be bloody and painful.

***

Perhaps it was because of their spiritual connection, or it could be the mysterious effect within their hearts; Pei Yunshu, in a semi-conscious state, always knew where Zhuyou was.

He followed the feeling, and before he got close, he heard a resounding dragon roar.

It was earth-shattering, truly magnificent.

Listening to this sound, Pei Yunshu knew that Zhuyou was lively and energetic. The heavy stone that had been pressing on his heart was finally lifted. When he saw Zhuyou and the sect master of Flower Brocade Sect, the two were engaged in a fierce battle. Their figures were so fast that they left afterimages. Pei Yunshu’s naked eyes couldn’t see their movements clearly, but his spiritual sense “informed” him that Zhuyou had the upper hand.

The enraged dragon, fueled by anger, completely aroused his possessive desire for Pei Yunshu. Anyone who harbored thoughts about Pei Yunshu would be torn into pieces by him.

On the Sect Master’s body, the smell of blood had already permeated.

Pei Yunshu couldn’t intervene, so he sat cross-legged on the side, imitating the appearance of Bai Lige and shouted loudly, “Zhuyou, well done!”

Zhuyou became more excited, and the intensity of his attacks on the Sect Master became even more fierce.

The Sect Master of Flower Brocade Sect sighed and, in the midst of all the chaos, turned to look at Pei Yunshu with a helpless expression. “You’ve been enjoying the show, haven’t you?”

Before Pei Yunshu could respond, Zhuyou approached him, and his cold voice carried a hint of hostility, “Who allowed you to watch him?”

“I not only watched him,” the Sect Master smiled as he looked at the new wounds on his body, “but I also painted by his eye.”

Zhuyou’s breath was hot, his beast-like pupils fierce, and his demonic patterns exuded a brutal atmosphere.

Pei Yunshu frowned, “Zhuyou, he’s lying to you.”

Regaining his senses, Zhuyou’s attacks became more ruthless, with a coldness and anger in his eyes like two conflicting skies.

Not long after, people from Flower Brocade Sect arrived. Pei Yunshu didn’t intervene in the battle between Zhuyou and the Sect Master, nor did he let anyone disturb Zhuyou.

He used his powerful spiritual awareness to create a barrier, keeping the members of Flower Brocade Sect outside the circle. Regardless of their expressions of resentment, Pei Yunshu remained unaffected.

The commotion here gradually spread to the Execution Hall.

The Lord of the Execution Hall’s expression changed, and he, carrying Young Master Qingfeng, was about to rush towards the Sect Master’s direction. However, his wrist suddenly experienced a sharp pain, and in the next moment, Young Master Qingfeng had disappeared.

He snorted, unable to pursue, and left with his people.

Young Master Qingfeng, supported by Bai Lige, had already moved to a secluded corner. Bai Lige placed him against the wall with concern, “Qingfeng, are you still alive?”

Young Master Qingfeng coughed incessantly and hoarsely said, “See if I’m dead.”

“You still look somewhat spirited,” Bai Lige laughed nonchalantly, sitting beside him, “That’s good. It saves me and Yunshu the trouble of rescuing someone who would end up as a corpse.”

“You shouldn’t have saved me,” Young Master Qingfeng said calmly, “I’m the one who led you to Flower Brocade Sect.”

Bai Lige raised an eyebrow.

Young Master Qingfeng pursed his lips, shaking as he took out several pills and swallowed them. “What about Pei Yunshu?”

***

These demonic cultivators from Flower Brocade Sect were running so fast that Yunjing and Yuncheng quickly realized something was wrong.

They exchanged glances and followed the group of demonic cultivators. After a moment, they saw a circle of people blocked outside a range defined by spiritual awareness.

Yuncheng looked at the two figures fighting in the air and felt a sudden acceleration of his heartbeat.

His slender sword cleared a path for him in front, and all the demonic cultivators unwilling to give way or cursed died under his sword. Bodies piled up from behind, forming a bloody path straight to the edge of the spiritual awareness.

Yuncheng’s heart pounded faster and faster. He fixed his black gaze ahead, and there seemed to be a flicker of fire in his eyes.

Eldest Senior Brother followed him. It seemed he anticipated something. His steps remained steady, but his gaze couldn’t help but shift towards the front.

Seated cross-legged behind the spiritual awareness, Pei Yunshu held Qingyue Sword.

His expression was calm, but his spiritual awareness was domineering, giving no chance for anyone to approach. The demonic cultivators from Flower Brocade Sect were blocked by him, and at the same time, the cultivators in the Nascent Soul stage could do nothing against him.

No one could pass him.

At the moment he saw him, Yuncheng abruptly stopped in his tracks. He and Eldest Senior Brother fixed their eyes on Pei Yunshu, as if they were fish that hadn’t touched water for a long time, thirsty to the point of fearing it was all a dream.

“Long time no see, but it seems Junior Brother hasn’t changed,” Yuncheng tilted his head slightly, eyes fixed on Pei Yunshu. He spoke to Eldest Senior Brother, “So, Junior Brother also has such a domineering side.”

“The intimidation of spiritual sense is stronger than both of us,” Eldest Senior Brother’s expression softened. “Junior Brother is formidable.”

They two were too conspicuous, and Pei Yunshu naturally noticed them. As his gaze swept over Eldest Senior Brother and Yuncheng, the two of them involuntarily held their breath, smiling slightly as they awaited the Fourth Junior Brother’s reaction.

However, Pei Yunshu seemed not to recognize them at all. His gaze calmly passed over Eldest Senior Brother and Yuncheng, as if they were no different from the surrounding members of the Flower Brocade Sect demonic faction.

The breath of Eldest Senior Brother and Yuncheng suddenly became heavier.

“What does this mean,” Eldest Senior Brother asked, “Did Junior Brother not see us?”

Yuncheng remained silent, his eyes dark and unclear.

Pei Yunshu did see them, but he had already left the sect. Moreover, he had spoken those words to the founder of Shanshui Sect, and he had tacitly agreed to his departure.

There was no need to force himself.

Some memories had not been restored, but the body wouldn’t lie.

Rejection, fear, hatred, disgust.

Because he treated them as family, the sensitivity became more pronounced.

He didn’t want to carry these burdens in his heart, so he treated them as strangers.

But Eldest Senior Brother and Yuncheng didn’t want to be strangers to him. They walked forward, and under the pressure of their strength, the demonic cultivators retreated, allowing them to stand in front of Pei Yunshu intact.

An invisible spiritual awareness barrier couldn’t stop their gaze from looking at Pei Yunshu.

“Junior Brother,” Yuncheng spoke slowly. He lowered his head to look at Pei Yunshu, reaching out to smooth his hair. But halfway through, he stopped before touching the spiritual awareness. “Junior Brother, Master and the senior brothers are very worried about you.”

Pei Yunshu finally raised his eyes to look at them. But before Yuncheng’s smile could deepen, Pei Yunshu said, “Step back three zhang.”

Bai Lige, perched on a tall tree, clicked his tongue incessantly. “Yunshu is soft like cotton when facing us, but when dealing with these people, he becomes so cold that it’s uncomfortable to watch.”

Young Master Qingfeng, repairing his internal injuries, was not surprised.

Since the moment Pei Yunshu started avoiding him and treating him coldly, he knew that when Pei Yunshu hardened his heart, it would be extremely tough.

The person who exuded a sweet fragrance when drunk, when he truly rejected someone, it was impossible to soften his attitude.

Yuncheng’s lips stiffened, “Junior Brother, don’t joke with senior brothers.”

His eyes turned cold, and the warm and gentle appearance faded away.

Pei Yunshu frowned, stood up, and with both hands gripping the sword hilt, he forcefully inserted Qingyue Sword into the soil.

The sword hilt was jet black, contrasting with Pei Yunshu’s hands, which were fair as jade. However, with just this pair of hands gripping the Qingyue Sword and pressing it down, there was a thunderous and muffled roar. A ring of land, excluded by spiritual sense, instantly collapsed, causing the ground to sink. Cracks spread like spider silk, dust filled the air, and those who were close enough had their expressions change abruptly. They leaped backward, avoiding the continuously sinking and dangerous area.

The ground sank for more than three zhang in length.

Surrounding the spiritual sense, a bottomless black abyss formed, enclosing a circle that prohibited anyone from approaching. Pei Yunshu’s robe fluttered in the wind, and his black hair soared menacingly behind him.

“Three zhang,” Pei Yunshu said, “No one is allowed to step over this area.”
