Chapter 38

After tearing the red cloth to pieces, the creature returned to the side of the dressing table. It cleared everything on the dressing table before jumping onto it, then stretched out its long arms to feel the walls and ceiling, not leaving any hiding places unexplored.

Lou Yan had previously seen that the creature didn’t jump onto the bed, so he thought it wouldn’t jump onto furniture. But now, it seemed that only the bed was special.

He couldn’t help but remember what Fu Xuezhou had just said about his broken leg. Was Fu Xuezhou hinting at something? If his leg was broken, he wouldn’t get off the bed.

No, why would he think that Fu Xuezhou would kindly remind him? Clearly, Fu Xuezhou had just wanted to crush his other foot’s bones. If both legs were broken, he would truly be in a dead end.

After the creature finished checking the dressing table, it moved to the wardrobe and began searching around it, looking for any hidden people.

At this moment, the creature was only two meters away from Lou Yan.

Lou Yan frowned and looked towards the bed.

If his leg wasn’t broken, it would only take a moment to run to the bed from here. But with one leg broken and the floor flooded, if he wanted to get back to the bed, it would take at least five or six seconds.

These five or six seconds, he would make countless sounds.

And the bed…

Lou Yan frowned, looking at the ancient bed, which was barely two meters wide. He didn’t think the bed was a good hiding spot, especially with Fu Xuezhou still on it.

The bed was not small, but if Lou Yan also went up, two adult men like him and Fu Xuezhou would find it difficult to silently evade the creature’s probing arms.

Moreover, when the creature finished searching and didn’t find anyone, would it really not come onto the bed?

The old woman had said “Wish the newlyweds a good night’s sleep” when she left. If they really listened to this and stayed in bed, they would probably be congratulating themselves on avoiding the crisis brought by the creature. However, was the anomaly really so kind? Would it really specifically remind them to safely survive the night?

Lou Yan, who had confronted the anomaly many times, thought it was impossible.

The anomaly’s methods were cunning and ruthless, definitely not harboring goodwill towards humans. “Wish the newlyweds a good night’s sleep” seemed like a reminder, but behind it, there must be hidden malice from the eerie.

If they really believed the bed was a safe area and when the creature really targeted the small area of the bed, that would be the end of their escape.

The real escape route was not the bed, but…

Lou Yan’s thoughts flashed by in just a few seconds. He blinked, glanced at Fu Xuezhou on the bed, and saw Fu Xuezhou lazily leaning against the bed frame, silver hair scattered over his shoulders, looking handsome like a deity. After locking eyes with Lou Yan, the silver-haired man’s lips twitched slightly, silently saying two words.

“Beg me.”

Lou Yan sneered inwardly. Beg you?

Haha.

But outwardly, Lou Yan showed a hesitant expression.

With a loud bang, the creature knocked over the wardrobe. After checking the wardrobe, it began to approach Lou Yan.

Lou Yan still held a dagger in his hand. He threw the dagger towards the dressing table. As soon as the dagger landed, the creature pounced on it, the sound of tearing and swallowing stimulating the eardrums, blood splattering everywhere on the ground, and the dressing table torn into several pieces by the creature.

Taking advantage of the noise caused by the creature, Lou Yan pushed the door hard with his backhand. The sound of pushing the door was successfully masked by the creature, and Lou Yan took a step towards Fu Xuezhou as if he were in pain again, then stopped pretending to feel pain. Seeing the creature about to stop, Lou Yan stopped pushing the door and silently began to remove the watch from his wrist.

The watch had a metal strap, and there would be a crisp sound when it was unfastened. Lou Yan wished he had a leather strap watch now, which wouldn’t make such a loud noise when unfastened.

He stared at the creature’s every move. When the creature’s thin legs hit the bottles and jars in the water, Lou Yan suddenly unfastened the watch.

With a “ding,” the crisp sound of the metal strap coincided with the sound of the bottles and jars. The creature immediately stopped its movements as if it sensed something, but after a few seconds, it lowered its head again.

Lou Yan breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Fu Xuezhou again, a smirk hidden at the corner of his mouth. Lou Yan pretended to be anxious, eager to approach the edge of the bed. When the creature walked towards him, Lou Yan showed a determined look, as if he was going to throw the watch into the corner of the fallen wardrobe.

But at the last moment of throwing, Lou Yan suddenly changed direction and threw the watch heavily onto the bed, hitting Fu Xuezhou’s red robe hanging on the bed.

Fu Xuezhou lowered his eyes, looking at the watch in front of him.

With a roar, the creature pounced on the bed like mad. Lou Yan didn’t even look at what happened next. He turned around cleanly, opened the door, escaped, and immediately closed the door tightly, pressing against it with all his strength.

With a loud bang, the creature was attracted by Lou Yan’s sound and pounced on the door again, its long arms and legs on the door reflecting like a huge spider. Lou Yan used all his strength to hold the door, and it seemed that the creature couldn’t come out. It roared at Lou Yan outside the door a few times in frustration before turning around and pouncing back onto the bed.

Various chaotic noises suddenly came from inside the room. Eerie roars, the collapse of heavy objects, the violent fluctuation of water… Just by these sounds, one could deduce that the battle inside was definitely intense.

Lou Yan took a few breaths, his eyes fixed on the surroundings outside.

This was a somewhat desolate courtyard, with weeds growing everywhere and nothing else. The walls surrounded this space firmly, with only two old rooms on the left and right sides of the bedroom, covered in dust and looking uninhabited. Except for the commotion inside the room, Lou Yan couldn’t hear any other noise, nor did he see as many eerie movements as before.

Where were those anomalies?

Although he didn’t know where those anomalies had gone, at least their absence now was beneficial to Lou Yan.

Outside the courtyard was a towering jungle, with no moon in sight. Lou Yan kept an eye on the movements in the courtyard. Less than a minute later, the candlelight in the room suddenly went out, and there was no more noise inside.

Lou Yan’s heart was lifted. Who had won?

The sound of footsteps getting closer in the water made Lou Yan’s eyelids twitch, and he quickly moved away from the door.

In his heart, he thought, it’s indeed him who won.

Soon, a pale hand opened the door, and Fu Xuezhou walked out of the bedroom.

Blood stains splattered on him, and he held a blood-red, still-beating heart in his hand, staring straight at Lou Yan.

The red blood in the room flowed out loudly, instantly absorbed by the soil in the courtyard. Fu Xuezhou walked towards Lou Yan step by step, stepping on the blood, his silver hair swaying slightly.

Lou Yan’s throat rolled, not retreating but standing still. Fu Xuezhou quickly approached him, lowered his eyes to look at Lou Yan for a while, and suddenly, his hair flew up, and four strands split out, binding Lou Yan’s feet and legs respectively.

These strands of hair bound Lou Yan tightly. Lou Yan frowned, but he wasn’t worried because he could sever these strands of hair with bone spikes. However, with his scarce mental power, Lou Yan didn’t plan to use bone spikes now. He wanted to see what Fu Xuezhou intended to do. “What do you want to do?”

Fu Xuezhou didn’t say anything, but Lou Yan felt his right hand being forcibly lifted by the silver hair and extended in front of Fu Xuezhou.

His fist clenched tightly, resisting the force of the silver hair with all his might, but to no avail. He stretched out his hand, but the silver hair was still not satisfied with the fist he made. Several strands of hair drilled into his fingers, then wrapped around his fingers one by one, forcibly extending his fist into a flat palm.

Lou Yan’s face darkened, wanting to see what Fu Xuezhou intended to do.

Under his gaze, Fu Xuezhou also raised his hand above Lou Yan’s. Then Fu Xuezhou let go, and a blood-stained watch fell from his hand into Lou Yan’s hand.

The watch still had warmth, not high in temperature, but it felt like it burned Lou Yan’s hand, causing him to recoil.

“Your watch,” Fu Xuezhou said.

“…” Lou Yan looked at the watch with a complex gaze, almost instinctively wanting to throw it away.

Fu Xuezhou seemed to see through what he was thinking, tilted his head meaningfully, “Don’t throw it away again.”

Lou Yan couldn’t help but find it amusing, “This is my watch, how to dispose of it is my business. Whether to throw it or not is up to me.”

“This watch is very expensive,” Fu Xuezhou hinted, not just talking about the watch, “It’s very valuable and suits you well. You’ve worn it before, and you should continue to wear it in the future.”

Lou Yan slowly gripped the watch, this time the silver hair didn’t stop his movement. Lou Yan’s face showed no expression, he raised his eyelids, making it impossible to see his thoughts, “What do you mean, Fu Xuezhou.”

Fu Xuezhou succinctly said, “For the rest of your life, you should continue to follow me.”

Lou Yan burst out laughing directly, tears almost coming out, “Me? Continue to follow you? Hahaha.”

Fu Xuezhou watched him mockingly, “Now you are much more valuable to me than before. As long as you obediently listen to me, stay by my side like before, I will take you out of here and give you what you want. If you don’t agree, you only have one dead end.”

“Do you think I can’t escape the illusion of the Red Coffin?” Lou Yan sneered.

“No, you can escape,” Fu Xuezhou suddenly raised his eyebrows, his pitch-black eyes enveloping Lou Yan, Fu Xuezhou chuckled lowly, taking a step forward, the dark oppression mixed with a hint of craziness in his tone as he whispered softly in Lou Yan’s ear, “Of course, you can escape. But I will kill you – you pose too great a threat to me. If I can’t have you, I will destroy you.”

Lou Yan stopped laughing, his eyes dark and gloomy.

After a while, just when Fu Xuezhou thought Lou Yan was going to refuse, Lou Yan suddenly smiled and calmly said, “Okay, I agree.”
