The trees swayed, leaves drifted onto smooth skin, bounced off by large palms, turning the fair skin into a shade of pink.

Zhuyou’s movements carried a rough excitement, pressing Pei Yunshu against him, the pace getting faster.

Pei Yunshu’s hands were already sore, wanting to let go, but still being pulled by Zhuyou, the warmth in the palms becoming increasingly scorching.

“Faster…” Pei Yunshu blinked wearily, his mouth sore from the heat. “Quickly…”

Zhuyou, feeling pressured, his eyes turning red, said, “Be a good wife, hold on tight.”

After so many times, Pei Yunshu’s hand skills were still quite inexperienced, and Zhuyou was the same. Holding onto Pei Yunshu’s hand, whether it was a firm or gentle grip, it always felt exciting, but it always seemed to fall a bit short, unable to overcome that final hurdle.

Pei Yunshu grasped twice, his palms almost rubbed raw, and he was anxious to check on the baby. Taking a deep breath, he leaned down and gave Zhuyou a kiss.

As the tender lips touched, they crossed that final hurdle.

Zhuyou’s breathing was still heavy, his eyes red as he gazed at Pei Yunshu, his demonic markings on his face shining like patterns.

The taste this time was heavy, and Pei Yunshu, with a conflicted expression, wiped his face, feeling uncomfortable and wanting a bath. Zhuyou grabbed him for another kiss, and the skin showed faint traces of blood.

Concerned, Pei Yunshu put the cloth he used to wipe his face aside, reaching out to touch Zhuyou’s forehead. “What’s wrong?”

Zhuyou’s breath was like a burning fire, his voice hoarse as he uttered a word, “Hot.”

Could it be that the battle caused a disturbance, making the spiritual power boil?

Pei Yunshu touched his abdomen, and Zhuyou did not stop him. Probing with his spiritual sense, he saw the golden demonic core emitting fiery colors, a radiant red glow, and the heat rushed to his spiritual sense.

Pei Yunshu pulled Zhuyou up. Thinking that Zhuyou wanted to find a more secluded place, Zhuyou’s eyes were fixed on the exposed skin on Pei Yunshu’s body.

With a tear in his clothes, Zhuyou couldn’t resist reaching out and tearing the fabric, revealing a snowy white shoulder.

When they reached the destination, Zhuyou was about to press Pei Yunshu down. “Sleep.”

Pei Yunshu quickly pushed him into the lake and threw all the ice-based magical tools and talismans on him. The water instantly froze, releasing a chilling air that softened Zhuyou instantly.

Zhuyou: “…”

He thought it was because of the fiery excitement, but what was happening now?

He looked at Pei Yunshu in confusion. Pei Yunshu exhaled, wiped the sweat off his face, and thankfully said, “Just in time, are you feeling better now?”

Zhuyou remained silent for a moment before nodding.

Pei Yunshu smelled his own hand and stiffened, squatting down to wash his hands and face in the icy water. After washing, his skin was already reddened by the cold, a hint of redness on his nose, making him look pitiful.

He shook himself off, flicking the water off his hands, and sighed, “So cold.”

Zhuyou, immersed in the water, whispered, “It is very cold.”

Pei Yunshu smiled, perhaps relieved from leaving the sect and regaining his memories. This smile was light and cheerful, making him look extremely adorable. “Then soak a bit longer. Your demonic core is stimulated now. Come out of the water when it calms down.”

Zhuyou submerged his head in the water, black hair spreading out on the surface like water grass, appearing terrifying like a water ghost.

Meanwhile, Bai Lige and the others found a place with good Feng Shui, not on Flower Brocade Sect’s territory, a secluded area rarely visited by people, perfect for burying the baby.

As for Yunjing and Yuncheng, they were left in place. When Pei Yunshu pulled them into the illusion, he had them maintain their sanity and awareness, allowing them to observe their actions. They would experience what Pei Yunshu had gone through.

For cultivators, belief in reincarnation was common. The illusion seemed so real that they could easily get lost, thinking it was reality and spending a lifetime there.

How long was a cultivator’s lifetime?

In the illusion, after Pei Yunshu’s death, he didn’t know what they would experience.

But at least, they had the chance to experience it again.

After receiving Pei Yunshu’s message, Bai Lige and the others buried the baby and went to find him and Zhuyou. After they left, Venerable Wuwang suddenly appeared, looking at the grave, and the infant’s still tender corpse flew out from the ground, floating in front of Venerable Wuwang.

Venerable Wuwang sighed, took the baby to the side, and found Yunjing and Yuncheng lying on the ground. After all, they owed a life, and it was their turn to settle this karmic debt.

When he arrived at the location, Wuwang saw that the body of the deceased sect leader was emitting black mist. This black demonic energy, excited upon seeing Venerable Wuwang, gathered together and rushed towards him.

Venerable Wuwang dodged these black mists with a flash of his body, but he forgot that there was still a baby next to him. The black mist inadvertently entered the baby’s body, and the seemingly lifeless baby suddenly opened its eyes, full of disbelief.

Venerable Wuwang set up a barrier around the baby, saying solemnly, “Demonic energy.”

It was the same demonic energy he had been pulled into a dream after meditation, being informed about the demonic energy in the place where Pei Yunshu was.

Thinking of Pei Yunshu, Venerable Wuwang suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest, almost tearing his heart apart. He swallowed the blood in his throat, staring expressionlessly at the demonic creature. A brief scan revealed that this demonic energy was only occupying a small part of the host’s body.

“You want to possess me,” Venerable Wuwang said indifferently. “In that case, I’ll thoroughly find you.”

The baby sneered but only produced a few extremely faint cries. After sealing him, Venerable Wuwang watched his two disciples on the ground, his eyes showing complicated emotions. Waving his sleeves, he took them back to the sect.

***

On the peak of the Wuzhi Peak, Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master looked at his two disciples, uncertain about the expression he should wear.

With a stern face and furrowed brows, he knew what had happened, but he was unsure whether he should be angry or disappointed.

Brother disciples were at odds, and his fourth disciple had changed so drastically.

Ling Qing had used his divine consciousness to enter the illusion and could sense the majesty of the Nascent Divinity stage.

With mixed emotions, he still wanted to know what kind of illusion Yunshu had set for his two senior brothers.

Standing aside, Wuwang Venerable saw Ling Qing’s thoughts and said, “Ling Qing, if you enter, your Dao heart may become unstable.”

Ling Qing sighed, “Can you just stay aside and pull them out?”

Wuwang Venerable lowered his eyes, “It’s not possible.”

Pei Yunshu wanted to punish them, so he couldn’t wake them up.

Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master couldn’t understand why his usually close fourth disciple had reached this point. Many things seemed unclear to him, shrouded in a mist.

The rift among the disciples had deepened even before he could perceive their grievances.

When did this start? Was it after bringing Yunwang up the mountain?

Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master felt a sense of defeat, but he was determined not to give up. He nodded solemnly, “Master, I will be more careful.”

Suddenly, hurried footsteps came from outside. Yunman rushed in without time to bow to his Grandmaster and Master. His charming face now displayed determination. “Master, I’m with you.”

Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master scolded him a few times, but Yunman insisted, and Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master ultimately agreed.

They all wanted to know what would happen inside the illusion created by Pei Yunshu.

***

Pei Yunshu’s leg was broken.

It was broken by Yuncheng.

Hearing this news, Yunjing’s heart shook. He stood in the courtyard all night.

The next day, he silently stood outside Pei Yunshu’s window, looking at the pale figure lying on the bed inside.

The body was trembling, and the face lacked vitality.

Yunjing stood there for a long time, trying to understand what Yuncheng was thinking.

Leaving Pei Yunshu’s courtyard, he went to fight Yuncheng. He fought fiercely, and halfway through, his junior brother rushed out like mad. Yunjing fought against Yuncheng with all his might, his eyes bloodshot, as if entering a demonic state.

Their master locked up the younger junior brother and scolded both of them for breaking the rules. During Yunjing’s cultivation, he would always recall Pei Yunshu lying in bed.

Worry and anger intertwined, and guilt and remorse overwhelmed him. If only he had been bolder, ignored the rules, and taken his junior brother away. Perhaps things wouldn’t have ended up like this.

During the period of seclusion, Yunjing spent all his time thinking about Pei Yunshu. He felt fortunate that there was still time. After the seclusion, he would leave with his junior brother. Whatever his junior brother wanted, he would comply. He would spend his entire life making amends for the mistakes he had committed, using spirit medicines and stones to help his junior brother recover. He was willing to endure scolding and beating, as long as his junior brother was willing to stay by his side. As long as his junior brother was with him, he felt he had nothing else to ask for.

As the days passed in such contemplation, the seclusion period seemed to come to an end faster. After an unknown duration, one day, the door opened.

Yunjing was overjoyed, and a rare smile appeared on his face. “I thought only half the time had passed. Did the seclusion end already?”

“Indeed, only half the time has passed.” The young servant who came to inform Yunjing had a look of sadness in his eyes. He seemed conflicted, as if unsure how to break the news to Yunjing.

Suddenly, a bad premonition surged within Yunjing. The smile on his face froze as he stared at the young servant.

The young servant opened his mouth, but his voice gradually faded away, as if he was speaking from afar. “Senior Brother, senior brother Yunshu… he…”

He what?

Yunjing only saw the young servant’s mouth moving without hearing the words. He resumed his smile. “What happened to junior brother Yunshu? Has he recovered, and did Master release him?”

The young servant’s gaze changed, sadness deepening, mixed with sympathy. He looked at Yunjing and said, “Senior Brother, you’d better… go quickly.”

“Junior brother Yunshu… he’s dead.”

Yunjing didn’t know how he reached Pei Yunshu’s side. When he arrived, Yuncheng was already kneeling by the bedside, staring blankly at Pei Yunshu.

The person lying on the bed was thin, with much paler cheeks. His hand, placed outside the blanket, looked lifeless, like a branch without vitality.

Yunjing walked over unsteadily and knelt down, reaching for Pei Yunshu’s hand. He leaned over the bedside and softly called, “Junior Brother Yunshu?”

Junior Brother Yunshu didn’t open his eyes to glare at them with resentment, nor did he try to pull away. He cowered, as if trying to avoid them.

“Junior Brother, don’t sleep. Senior Brother was wrong. Hit me if you need to vent your anger.” Yunjing straightened his back, bringing his face close to Pei Yunshu’s hand. As his face touched the cold fingertips, uncontrollable tears welled up in Yunjing’s eyes.

In Pei Yunshu’s pale, bluish palm, he cried uncontrollably.

When Junior Brother rushed in, he froze at the door. He stared blankly at the lifeless figure on the bed, seemingly unable to comprehend what was happening and who the person on the bed was.

As he walked in and saw Pei Yunshu’s face clearly, he bent over, hunching his back, and tightly embraced himself, as if enduring unbearable pain.

Ling Qing Daoist Spiritual Master’s voice echoed from a distance with a shocked exclamation, “Master!”

All of this went unheard by Yunjing.

After an unknown amount of time, suddenly a pair of hands snatched Pei Yunshu away from him. The person had the same face as Junior Brother, except their eyes were bloodshot, and a hint of red appeared at the center of their eyebrows, indicating that they had fallen into a demonic state.

Yunjing, as if gone mad, tried to rush forward, attempting to tear Pei Yunshu away. In the end, he and his fellow disciples were severely injured, rendered powerless, lying on the ground, watching as the possessed Yunwang took away their brother.

After Pei Yunshu’s death, Yunjing and Yuncheng, who were projected onto the main body, suddenly regained control of their bodies.

However, they were at a loss.

After recovering, their first instinct was to kill themselves to end the illusion. But no matter what method they tried, they couldn’t kill themselves.

The lifespan of cultivators was long, even if they stopped cultivating, they could live for a very long time.

Yunjing and Yuncheng spent a hundred years searching for Junior Brother, who was taken away by Yunwang. They heard that Fourth Junior Brother was hidden by Yunwang and that Yunwang consumed many demonic creatures, seeking a way to resurrect their junior brother.

But every time they tried, Yun Wang beat them severely, leaving them critically injured.

Eventually, they could no longer find Yun Wang and Pei Yunshu.

Unable to die, memories became a tormenting weapon. Worse than memories was the long, hopeless life. Yunjing drowned himself in alcohol, but even when drunk, he couldn’t see his brother.

No end, no way out, a world without his junior brother.

… Without his junior brother.

***

Pei Yunshu stared at the lake, quickly throwing away ice attribute artifacts wherever he saw signs of melting ice.

His thoughts were extinguished at this moment. Limping, Zhuyou climbed out of the water, and Pei Yunshu kicked him back in.

“Stay still,” Pei Yunshu said. “Wait for Bai Li to come and see what happened to you.”

Zhuyou swam to the shore, grabbed his feet, and removed his shoes and socks. The chill in the water made Pei Yunshu’s toes curl, and he asked, “What do you want to do?”

Zhuyou looked up at his expression, sensed his curiosity, straightened up, and pressed his foot underneath, “Massage.”

A fiery sensation like a fire spread under Pei Yunshu’s foot. He stomped twice, and the fiery sensation suddenly expanded.

Not wanting to be exposed in public, Pei Yunshu wanted to retract his foot, but Zhuyou held it bare. He pressed it down with force, and Pei Yunshu’s foot turned red. Just as someone approached, Pei Yunshu smiled broadly, stamped hard, and forcefully pushed Zhuyou into the water.

A pitiful dragon’s cry echoed, startling Bai Li and the others who hurried over. Zhuyou was struggling in the icy water, covering his lower part with both hands, clearly in pain.

“What’s happening?” Bai Li asked hesitantly. “What’s wrong?”

Just wearing his socks again, Pei Yunshu stood by the lake for a while. Looking at the pained Zhuyou, he squatted down, waving at him, “Come here and let me see.”

Zhuyou, still in pain, swam over, droplets of water falling from his body. He looked miserable.

Pei Yunshu patted his head and comforted him like a pet, “Good boy, nothing’s wrong.”

Zhuyou: “Need a kiss to get better.”

Pei Yunshu remained silent for a moment, avoiding the main topic, “Let’s talk about it later.”

His face remained red to his neck. While Zhuyou had unintentionally thickened Pei Yunshu’s face, he hadn’t reached the thickness to openly say such things in public.

Zhuyou, underwater, took the opportunity to touch his two brothers.

Feeling the pain, he thought, “Tonight, let Lady Wife kiss you guys. A kiss from her will puff up her cheeks, and if she takes turns kissing, that’s quite worthwhile.”

He even thought about letting Lady Wife kick them a few more times.
