Chapter 27

Before Xiao Yuan remembered where he had heard the name, two doors on the left and the right opened at the same time. Mu Yingyang and Gu Louyin walked out, obviously hearing the movement outside to see what happened.

Mu Yingyang’s face was gloomy as he said, “There is a lot of noise in the middle of the night, are people not allowed to rest?”

Chang Lan said, “Something happened suddenly, I hope Master Mu will forgive me.”

Gu Louyin asked, “What’s the matter?”

Chang Lan repeated what she had just said. “Palace Master has personally gone to Xiyuan, so can the two young masters also go and have a look.”

Hearing the words ‘withered bones’, Gu Louyin was also stunned. He quietly clenched the sheath of his sword and said, “Let’s go.”

Mu Yingyang watched the three of them leave and raised his eyebrows with interest.

When Xiao Yuan and Gu Louyin arrived at Xiyuan, Lu Yueyao’s room was full of people, most of whom were disciples of Yunjian Pavilion dressed in white. There were a few people who looked familiar to Xiao Yuan; he probably had shared his grilled fish with them once. There were several disciples from Baihua Palace surrounding the bed, treating Lu Yueyao.

As soon as the two arrived, everyone’s eyes turned to them. Xiao Yuan vaguely felt déjà vu and finally remembered where he had heard the words ‘withered bones’ – the scene was also the same as the night when Lin Wulian was poisoned two years ago, except that the location was changed to Baihua Palace and the poisoned person was changed to Lu Yueyao. However, wearing the face of the Young Master of Xuanle Sect, he would not become the target of the crowd. The attitude of the disciples of Yunjian Pavilion towards him was very different from the original.

“Shidi, Young Master Shen.” A decent-looking man greeted him. Xiao Yuan remembered that this man was the eldest Shixiong of Gu Louyin and the others and his name was Jiang Liuyuan. Jiang Liuyuan had mediocre qualifications and was not valued in Yunjian Pavilion, but he had been in the sect the longest and often took care of the affairs of the pavilion. He had a strong character and was well liked by his younger fellow disciples.

Gu Louyin said, “How did Lu Yueyao get poisoned?”

Jiang Liuyuan shook his head and said, “At the end of the flower viewing party today she was fine and she also had dinner with other female cultivators in the evening. As a result, in the middle of the night, she suddenly vomited blood and rolled on the ground in pain, disturbing the female cultivator who lived next door. That’s how we learned about it.”

Gu Louyin asked, “Are you sure it is withered bones?”

Among the disciples of Yunjian Pavilion, no one knew about withered bones. Jiang Liuyuan’s expression was heavy as he said, “People from Baihua Palace said so, so it can’t be wrong.”

Xiao Yuan curled his lips silently. Withered bones was not a common poison. Did the killer do it deliberately, or was it just a coincidence?

Gu Louyin said, “There is only one antidote to withered bones –”

“Serpentine beauty.” Lu Liluan came floating, and Han Mu, a medical practitioner from Yunjian Pavilion, came with her.

Seeing Gu Louyin, Han Mu smiled meaningfully, “Louyin, it’s been a long time since I have seen you.”

Gu Louyin lowered his head and said, “Han Shishu.”

The two first checked Lu Yueyao’s injuries. Lu Yueyao’s hair was disheveled, her complexion was gray, there were blood stains under her nose and around her mouth and there was a frown between her eyebrows. Even though she was unconscious, she couldn’t hide her pain that had to be wretched.

Withered bones needed blood to exert toxicity. The disciples of Baihua Palace searched for a long time and did not find the wound. In the end, Lu Liluan personally looked and found a tiny mark on the back of Lu Yueyao’s neck that was difficult to see with the naked eye.

Lu Liluan and Han Mu glanced at each other, their eyes a little complicated. Han Mu said: “To be able to do this without leaving a single clue, the poisoner is not a simple person.”

Xiao Yuan smiled and said, “Aren’t poisoners always like this? How can there be a poisoner that is not disguised, so that people could see him at a glance.”

Gu Louyin’s long eyelashes trembled, “Indeed.”

Han Mu thoughtfully said, “Young Sect Master Shen is right.”

Jiang Liuyuan said, “Palace Master Lu, Han Shishu, I remember seeing serpentine beauty at the flower viewing party today. Can we use it to detoxify Lu Shimei?”

Lu Liluan was silent. Chang Lan said: “To tell you the truth, the serpentine beauty at the flower viewing party was bought by a distinguished guest.”

“Was bought?” Jiang Liuyuan couldn’t believe it, “Serpentine beauty is a plant that is rare to find even once in a hundred years, how could Baihua Palace sell it to someone?”

Lu Liluan said, “Because he exchanged it with something that is more precious to Baihua Palace.”

“Then…” Jiang Liuyuan said anxiously, “then can you invite that distinguished guest and let Yunjian Pavilion talk to him? As long as he is willing to give us serpentine beauty, we can agree to any conditions.”

Chang Lan said, “Don’t worry, Master Jiang, someone has already invited him.”

Xiao Yuan watched coldly, probably having a guess in his heart. Han Mu was right. The one who could easily poison Lu Yueyao without leaving any clues – who else could it be besides that person.

Not long after, the buyer of serpentine beauty was invited to Xiyuan.

As if he was awakened halfway through his sleep, Xiao Du was wearing only an inner shirt with the front lapels open and his outer shirt was draped loosely on his shoulders. With a lazy expression he looked at the disciples of Baihua Pavilion whose faces reddened.

Gu Louyin whispered, “It’s him again.”

Jiang Liuyuan urgently explained the story to Xiao Du and finally said: “Please, fellow immortal, make an offer. No matter how much you want to ask, Yunjian Pavilion will not hesitate! In addition, fellow immortal will also be the benefactor of Yunjian Pavilion. If there is something Yunjian Pavilion can obtain in the future…”

“Benefactor?” Xiao Du interrupted him with a smile, “Benefactors of Yunjian Pavilion do not end well, I’m afraid.”

The faces of the disciples of Yunjian Pavilion distorted but because the serpentine beauty was in Xiao Du’s hands, they dared not speak out in anger. Gu Louyin looked at Xiao Du whom he had seen several times with even more doubts.

Jiang Liuyuan was taken aback, “Brother, what does this mean?”

Xiao Du asked again, “Is she dead?” ”

“Not yet,” Han Mu said, “but if we delay any longer, she will undoubtedly die within three days.”

“Poor thing.” Looking at Xiao Du’s expression, one would think he was really sorry for Lu Yueyao. “But what does this have to do with me?”

Jiang Liuyuan said: “Saving a life is better than building a seven-storey pagoda. What’s more, what do you want serpentine beauty for, are you also poisoned with withered bones?”

“What do I want serpentine beauty for?” Xiao Du answered, speaking with half a truth and half a lie, “To please my younger brother.”

Jiang Liuyuan’s eyes widened, “You–”

“My brother thinks serpentine beauty is beautiful and cute, so I bought it and gave it to him for him to smile, can’t I?”

A young disciple of Yunjian Pavilion couldn’t bear it anymore and said angrily: “Is your brother’s pleasure more important than a human life?!”

The corners of Xiao Du’s mouth curved but there was a murderous intent hidden in his eyes, “Not to mention a human life, even a hundred lives are not as good as his sincere smile. If Yunjian Pavilion wants to get serpentine beauty, why not come and steal it? It just so happens that all the cultivators of the other sects are here. This will allow them to open their eyes and take a good look at whether Yunjian Pavilion is worthy of being the ‘number one sword sect in the world’.”

Seeing that the disciples of Yunjian Pavilion couldn’t deal with it, Han Mu got up and said, “Yunjian Pavilion will naturally not do such a forceful thing. However, distinguished master, please also carefully consider whether it is worth having a grudge with Yunjian Pavilion for the sake of serpentine beauty.”

Xiao Du: “No.”

Han Mu: “…”

Xiao Yuan barely could hold back and almost laughed out loud, but fortunately, he turned his laughter into a light cough in time. He was not gloating, he was just laughing at Xiao Du’s words. Although he didn’t want to admit it, in some ways, he and Xiao Du were really similar.

This light cough attracted Xiao Du’s attention, “Young Sect Master Shen seems to have something to say.”

Xiao Yuan picked up a cup of tea and said, “No, I’m drinking tea.”

Xiao Du’s gaze lingered on Xiao Yuan’s body for a few moments and then he said: “As far as I know, serpentine beauty has extreme medicinal qualities. Once taken, it will be stored in one’s body for three to five years. Perhaps anyone at Yunjian Pavilion who used serpentine beauty in recent years, you can take his blood, one cup at a time, three times a day, and use it as a medicine. Maybe it can save her life.”

The disciples of Yunjian Pavilion looked at each other tacitly, but no one dared to speak out.

There was one person at Yunjian Pavilion who had taken serpentine beauty that Gu Louyin brought back from the extremely desolate land two years ago. Using his blood could indeed buy Lu Yueyao time, but that person had a special identity and the Pavilion Master himself treated him better than his only son. It was not right to take his blood to save Lu Yueyao.

After a long silence, Gu Louyin opened his mouth: “Lin Wulian.”

“Oh, it turns out that there is such a person.” Xiao Du said with a smile, “Then what are you waiting for, hurry up and invite him over. The disciples of Yunjian Pavilion are like brothers and sisters, sharing life and death, and if a few dozens of cups of blood can be exchanged for the life of his Shimei, Lin Wulian will gladly agree – am I right?”

The faces of the disciples of Yunjian Pavilion turned red and white, which was really a good sight. Just now, an outspoken young disciple said confidently: “You are right. Lin Shixiong and Lu Shijie have always been like brothers and sisters. If Lin Shixiong knew about this, he would definitely not sit idly by. If you don’t sell serpentine beauty, then you won’t sell it. What’s so great about it!”

The smile on Xiao Du’s lips was even more obvious, “Really, then I will wait and see.”

Jiang Liuyuan said solemnly: “Xu Shidi, shut up.”

This Xu Shidi had been in Yunjian Pavilion for less than two years and he was at the age when he was hot-headed. He did not flinch when he was reprimanded by his Shixiong and said: “Shixiong, since Lin Shixiong’s blood can save Lu Shijie, why should we beg an outsider – I will write to Lin Shixiong now!”

A slightly older disciple pulled him back and pulled out his sword with a clang, pointing it straight at Xiao Du, saying in a cold voice: “Write what letter, in my opinion, it is better to buy it! So what if others know, we are here to save a human life and we had no other choice!”

Xiao Yuan took a sip of tea and said, “He overestimates his capabilities.”

Gu Louyin said indifferently: “You are not his opponent.”

“How can I know if I don’t try!” After that, the disciple raised his sword and attacked Xiao Du.

Gu Louyin raised his hand and blocked the blow with the sheathed Shuang Leng.

The disciple took a few steps back, forced to withdraw his sword. “Young Master!”

“Go write a letter,” Gu Louyin said, “and inform Lin Wulian of this matter.”

Jiang Liuyuan hesitated, looked at Han Mu and said, “Han Shishu, that…”

After Han Mu considered carefully, she gave Gu Louyin a deep look and said, “Write the letter.”

Xiao Yuan raised his head and drank the remaining tea.

When Xiao Du mentioned the word ‘blood’, Xiao Yuan understood completely. On the surface, it seemed as if Xiao Du made a move against Lu Yueyao, but his real goal was Lin Wulian, who had taken thirty cups of his own blood.

As expected of Xiao Du, he thought with a sigh.

  1. Lol Xiao Yuan simply watching to the side like he was enjoying a play 🤣😅

Although Xiao Du is taking revenge, it’s too late. He does not deserved to be forgiven!

Thank you for the chapter! 🥰

  2. Loool all these people trying to make amends… the person you wronged is already dead. Granted the revenge is fun to read, but it’s too little too late.

I am especially happy that Xiao Yuan put the Mu junior brother in his place. While it was rather cruel, it was well deserved. He never said a nice thing while Xiao Yuan was “alive” but has the gall to act like he lost a cherished brother.

Let them suffer for their actions.

  4. Did all these b*these and b*stards of Yunjian Pavilion think the other people’s lives are simply trash, and only their lives are precious?
Honestly, I don’t want the MC to end up with someone because all of them are not worthy.
